Using filters in Yahoo Mail for iPhone
-
Use a filter when you want Yahoo Mail to automatically deliver specific kinds of email messages to folders other than the Inbox
-
To get started, select Filters on the navigation screen
-
Click + to begin adding a new filter
-
First, give your new filter a name
-
Next, define the rule or rules for your filter
-
Rules tell Yahoo Mail how to recognize incoming messages for delivery to a specific folder
-
Let's say you want all messages about Europe from Andy to go into the Vacation folder
-
Rule #1: The email is about Europe
-
Rule #2: The email is from Andy
-
Delivery folder: select Vacation
-
Save your filter
-
Ordering your filters
-
Your new filter appears at the bottom of the filters list
-
Yahoo Mail applies filters in the order listed, beginning with the top filter
-
Here the Andy filter is higher in the list than the Vacation filter
-
This filter delivers all emails from Andy into the Family folder
-
Because this filter applies first, all Andy's emails go into the Family folder
-
The Vacation filter doesn't even get a chance to apply
-
You can fix this by moving the filter up to change the order in which it applies
-
Now the Vacation filter is above the Andy filter, so it applies first
-
Emails from Andy with Europe in the subject are delivered to the Vacation folder
-
All other emails from Andy are delivered to the Family folder
-
Yahoo Mail lets you have up to 200 filters, so take advantage of them to get your incoming email organized!
