Art21 proudly presents an artist segment, featuring Jessica Stockholder, from the "Play" episode in Season 3 of the "Art in the Twenty-First Century" series.
"Play" premiered in October 2005 on PBS.
In the studio, Jessica Stockholder makes sculptures on the scale of furniture, assembling objects made of brightly colored plastic. At the Rice Gallery in Houston where she is working on a large exuberant installation, Stockholder’s fascination with systems is evident in the way she arranges mundane objects in playful, surprising ways.
Jessica Stockholder was born in Seattle, Washington, in 1959. Learn more about the artist at: https://art21.org/artist/Jessica-Stockholder
