Using three well-known heroes as an example (Frodo, Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker), Robin Turner explains the stages of the "journey of the hero" as described by Joseph Campbell in his book, "The Hero of a Thousand Faces."
After studying music and English at Leeds University, Robin Turner spent the 1980's playing music and doing odd jobs before drifting into academia. Since 1993, he has been teaching English and academic skills at Bilkent University. In addition to teaching, he does translation, editing and television work for various individuals and organizations. He has written on a variety of subjects, including popular culture, cognitive linguistics and education.
