Tras el descubrimiento de América, se va configurando el Nuevo Mundo dependiente de la corona española. se pasa revista a las conquistas de Pizarro y Alvarado en México, al descubrimiento del Amazonas por Orellana, a las luchas entre Pizarro y Almagro por el dominio del Nuevo Mundo. También veremos al Padre Las Casas defender a los indios. Se ofrecen dramatizaciones de programas de archivo de TVE y algunos largometrajes como 'El Dorado¿ DE Carlos Saura, 'Cabeza de vaca' DE Nicolás de Echevarría, 'Aguirre, la cólera de Dios' DE Werner Herzog, 'El rey pasmado' de Imanol Uribe y de 'El corsario' De Tony Mulligan

At the beginning of the 16th century

A young man from Extrmadura, Spain named Francisco Pizarro

The bastard son of a small Trujillo nobility

looks after his grandfather's herd of pigs as he does every morning

In the Spain that forges after regaining their freedom from the Moors

Raising pigs is a sign of prestige

since it allows the owners of these animals--hated by both Jews and Muslims--

to openly exhibit their Christian purity

Had he been born just a few years earlier

Francisco Pizarro could've gained honor and glory fighting the "infidels"

but that heroic era had finished,

and with it, the possibility of obtaining social status through bravery in battle.

In Extramadura, fighting for land was especially cruel amongst the different nobility born from their recent freedom.

From within a mob of impoverished noblemen, descendants of Don Quixote

The men required to fulfill the greatest Spanish epic will come.

It was necessary for these young men to find new land to conquer

And soon, the illiterate caretaker Francisco Pizarro, will go to the New World dressed as a fearsome nobleman
