Report phishing in Yahoo Mail
-
Email phishing scams try to get your valuable personal information, such as account numbers and passwords
-
They often pretend to be legitimate businesses or charities, but send you to fraudulent web sites

-
What should I do?
-
Be careful when you open a suspicious message
-
This looks like a real business...
-
...but check whether the sender’s email address is legitimate
-
A legitimate business won’t threaten you in email
-
Never click the links in a suspicious message
-
Some phishing scams try to download malicious software onto your computer
-
Never download or open an attachment from a suspicious message
-
Use the Spam menu to report suspicious email to Yahoo
-
Yahoo Mail moves the phishing messages into your Spam folder
-
You don’t need to do anything about phishing messages that Yahoo Mail has already put in Spam
-
Report phishing in other email programs
-
If you get a phishing message that appears to be from Yahoo when you use another email program, just mark the message as Spam or Junk mail
-
We’ll get the information to follow up, even though you’re not using Yahoo Mail
-
If your email program doesn’t have a Spam or Junk mail option:
-
Get the message’s full header as described here: http://www.haltabuse.org/help/headers/
-
Submit the header information to Yahoo here: http://tiny.corp.yahoo.com/QjxL4l
