Title:
Listen to the Kurdish language in Iraq | Xatun speaking Sorani | Wikitongues
Description:

The Kurdish language, one of the Indo-Iranian languages, is an ancestral language of the Kurds, native to Kurdistan (Iraq, Turkey, Iran, Syria). Kurmanji, Sorani, and Palewani are the main varieties.

This video was recorded Nzar Omer in Hajiawa, Iraqi Kurdistan. Based on the video's location, we believe Xatun is speaking the "central" variety of Kurdish, more commonly called Sorani (Soranî).

From Wikipedia: Sorani (Kurdish: سۆرانی ,Soranî‎), also called Central Kurdish (کوردیی ناوەندی, Kurdîy nawendî), is a dialect or a language of the Kurdish languages that is spoken in Iraq, mainly in Iraqi Kurdistan, as well as the Kurdistan Province, Kermanshah Province, and West Azerbaijan Province of western Iran. Sorani is one of the two official languages of Iraq, along with Arabic, and is in political documents simply referred to as "Kurdish".The term Sorani, named after the former Soran Emirate, is used especially to refer to a written, standardized form of Central Kurdish written in the Sorani alphabet developed from the Arabic alphabet in the 1920s by Sa'ed Sidqi Kaban and Taufiq Wahbi.
