This stems from the Transatlantic Slave Trade whereby an estimated 4.9 million enslaved Africans were trafficked to Brazil... that’s nearly 40% of all slaves traded in the Transatlantic Slave Trade! That’s several times the number of enslaved Africans that were trafficked to the United States. Learn about slave resistance movements, Capoeira, Candomble and Samba in this chunky chapter of black history from Brazil!
