LessonLAMS is a new offering from
the LAMS team, that is designed to
  • 0:06 - 0:10
make it even simpler to create great-looking
    engaging and content-driven
  • 0:10 - 0:13
    digital lessons.
  • 0:13 - 0:16
We've moved all the features of
    LessonLAMS to the cloud,
  • 0:16 - 0:20
there's no need to install and administer
your own server. All you need to do is set
  • 0:20 - 0:21
    up an account and
  • 0:21 - 0:25
    And you're on your way.
  • 0:25 - 0:29
    LessonLAMS runs online lesson plans
that can include both written and rich
  • 0:29 - 0:33
    media content,
    as well as collaborative activities.
  • 0:33 - 0:38
LAMS steps your students through these
plans step-by-step, then as a teacher you
  • 0:38 - 0:44
can monitor the progress of your students
to see where they're up to.
  • 0:44 - 0:46
LAMS is best known for its
    Authoring environment,
  • 0:46 - 0:50
a simple environment where teachers can
    drag-and-drop activities
  • 0:50 - 0:52
to create these sequences of tasks.
  • 0:52 - 0:57
The new LessonLAMS interface shows you
exactly what you can expect from
  • 0:57 - 0:59
    whatever digital lesson you choose.
  • 0:59 - 1:02
The digital lesson plan is show here,
  • 1:02 - 1:10
in a graphical representation of the
    activities it contains.
  • 1:10 - 1:14
You can create LAMS Lesson plans from
scratch, or use a template based on
  • 1:14 - 1:16
classic teaching strategies, or you can even
    use
  • 1:16 - 1:17
    pre-built lesson plans
  • 1:17 - 1:19
    with existing content
    ready to go.
  • 1:19 - 1:23
You can choose new Lesson templates from the
    LAMS Activity planner.
  • 1:23 - 1:26
The LAMS activity planner is a collection
    of
  • 1:26 - 1:27
    pre-built templates,
  • 1:27 - 1:30
    that represent different teaching ideas.
  • 1:30 - 1:33
You can customise these templates to
represent the topics you want to cover
  • 1:33 - 1:37
    in your digital lesson.
  • 1:37 - 1:42
Editing and modifying your own LAMS sequences
has been made quicker and easier
  • 1:42 - 1:46
    with the inclusion of the
    LAMS "Simple Editor."
  • 1:46 - 1:55
But those who've used LAMS before can relax,
the fully featured authoring environment is
  • 1:55 - 2:02
    still only one click away.
  • 2:02 - 2:05
You can also use your LessonLAMS account
    preview digital lessons

  • 2:10 - 2:18
    repository of digital lessons from
students and teachers all over the world.
  • 2:18 - 2:22
If you come across a sequence embedded
in a blog or anywhere else online,
  • 2:22 - 2:28
you can also bring it straight across
into LessonLAMS to have a look.
  • 2:28 - 2:31
that's where the "Preview" function comes
    inÉ
  • 2:31 - 2:34
For a lesson that you've imported or
    perhaps one you've built yourself,
  • 2:34 - 2:36
you can launch it in a sandbox, and explore
    it
  • 2:36 - 2:37
from the perspective of one of your learners.
  • 2:37 - 2:45
    If you
spot a mistake or something you want
to change you can jump back to the

    Simple Editor and correct itÑ
    No hassle.
  • 2:49 - 2:56
When your lesson is ready, Launching it
for your students is really simple.
  • 2:56 - 3:03
To give students access to one of your
lesson plans you have two options:
  • 3:03 - 3:06
the first method is the simplest.
In this method you allow your students
  • 3:06 - 3:10
    to create their own accounts.
All you need to do is give them a URL and
  • 3:10 - 3:11
    an access code.
  • 3:11 - 3:16
If you choose the second method, you need
    to
  • 3:16 - 3:18
provide the name and email address
  • 3:18 - 3:21
of each of your learners. Once you've done
    this,
  • 3:21 - 3:24
LessonLAMS can automatically email these addresses,
  • 3:24 - 3:28
and provide the URL and access code
    directly to your learners inbox.
  • 3:28 - 3:31
They can click on the link and start
    working through your digital lesson,
  • 3:31 - 3:34
    straight away.
  • 3:34 - 3:37
