-
We received the keys for Jesus-Haus
in January 2005.
-
It was the former hospital in Herrnhut,
-
but the vision of Jesus-Haus was carried
much longer
-
in the hearts of those that founded it.
-
Central to the vision of Jesus-Haus is
that it will be a dwelling place
-
for the Lord.
-
A place where He is pleased to dwell.
-
But also that it will be a place where
people come
-
and encounter His presence here.
-
That is why worship is so central
to what we are doing.
-
Worship underpins everything
-
but it also is like a canopy
over everything.
-
With prayer, intercession and teaching
-
flowing out from
that atmosphere of worship
-
that atmosphere of giving glory to God.
-
There is 4 main points of what
Jesus-Haus seeks to be:
-
It is called to be an altar of worship,
-
a place where the Lord
is pleased to dwell.
-
It's called to be a well of encounter
-
where people can come and
encounter the Lord.
-
They receive breakthrough, healing,
transformation
-
as they see God,
as they encounter the Lord
-
We also see it as a gathering place.
-
A place for the Nations
to come before the Lord
-
and worship His name, to honour Him
-
And it is a training place.
-
A place of teaching, training
and discipleship
-
rooted in the Word of God.
-
Also central to our vision
is our heart and conviction
-
to pray for and bless Israel.
-
Psalm 122:6 tells us to pray
for the peace of Jerusalem.
-
We believe it is clear in the Bible
-
that Israel is part of God's
redemptive plan,
-
a big part!
-
And that He has such a heart of love
for Israel.
-
We therefore take it seriously
in our role as watchmen
-
to love, support and bless Israel
-
And we want to bring others
into that same understanding.
-
Apart from being a guest house,
and welcoming guests,
-
we also welcome people
for short- or longer-term internships,
-
discipleship programs
or volunteer opportunities.
-
We see people come here
-
and as they immerse themselves
in the community
-
as they take part in the rhythms of
-
worship, work, celebration, family –
-
just the life in the house,
-
then we see that they are transformed
on the inside
-
and they pick up this DNA
-
and then they are able to take it
like seeds into the nations
-
to see the same things happening
around the world.
-
And so we welcome you.
-
If you want to come here as a guest,
-
or if you want to come here and volunteer,
-
or take part in one of our
training programs
-
then please: Come.
-
You are welcome.
-
We welcome the nations.
-
I'm here now with Maren.
-
Maren is going to tell us
a little bit more about
-
how the vision came to be
-
and who was carrying it.
-
So my first question for you Maren is:
-
Who had the vision for Jesus-Haus?
-
There is only one answer,
who had the vision:
-
Jesus.
-
And He spoke in the year 2000
very clearly and impressively
-
to Christian Winter about the hospital.
-
And how did you come to have
this building?
-
The Jesus-Haus comes out of
a 40-year journey with the Lord
-
and we stand on the prayers
of generations of believers in Herrnhut.
-
For us as a small congregation
it seemed very unrealistic
-
to buy the property.
-
We had no money, no co-workers.
-
But: God gave the vision,
-
and he gave the courage to move forward.
-
And then the money came.
-
Friends from Germany
and around the world
-
helped us to build the house.
-
And I know that there is a bell tower
-
at the entrance way of Jesus-Haus.
-
Tell us about that bell tower!
-
This bell tower was rescued
in January 1905
-
from the burning Brethren House
-
and was put later
on top of the hospital archway
-
The bell was ringing when the Brethren
came together for prayer
-
and to send out missionaries
to the mission field
-
Hundred years later, in January 2005,
-
we were able to take
possession of the house.
-
And so we rang the bell again
exactly 100 years later
-
after this fire.
-
And also there's a foundation stone
-
at the entrance of Jesus-Haus.
-
What is the story behind that?
-
We wrote the words from Psalm 95:6
on the foundation stone:
-
"Come let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker."
-
According to the mandate
God gave us for Jesus-Haus,
-
we wanted to make that very clear
-
for everyone who steps in the house.
-
You must have had many scriptures,
-
impressions and promises from the Lord
over the time,
-
what were the core ones
from the beginning?
-
Over the years we received many
encouraging prophetic words of wisdom
-
from believers of the nations:
-
God wants to restore the ancient tools
-
of the Watch of the Lord.
-
And he is interested
that prayers come up to him
-
for Israel and the Nations from here.
-
We got Isaiah 62:6-7
-
"I have posted watchmen on your walls,
O Jerusalem;
-
they will never be silent day or night."
-
Habbakuk 2:1
-
"I will stand on my watch
and station myself on the ramparts;
-
I will look to see
what he will say to me,
-
and what answer I am
to give to his complaint."
-
But the word that we received most
is from Genesis 26:18-25
-
where it says:
-
"Isaac reopened the wells
from his father Abraham..."
-
There's another word
from Numbers 21:16-18
-
when Israel sang the song:
"Spring up, o well!"
-
When we moved into the hospital
God gave us 1 Kings 17:16
-
"For the jar of flour was not used up
-
and the jug of oil did not run dry
-
in keeping with the word of the Lord
-
spoken by Elijah."
-
So we believe that God always will provide
what we need
-
We give all the glory to God,
-
may he fulfill what he promised.
(– Amen!)
