With OTAM, we went to New-York for the holidays.

And of course, it was the golden opportunity

to make a video.

Although we hadn't our dear camera operator

Bart. Thus, we recorded with the means

available which is a poor GoPro.

So this video will be a bit hasty

will make you feel dizzy.

But nevermind, a voice-over,

some film editing and Hop, I make you a

video of "New-York au détail". Hey don't complain

for once the sound will be ok. lol !

So I'm equipped with my little travel

guide illustrated by Pénélope Bagieu

(No, it's not a product placement,

only a good taste mark). I booked a

hipster's Air BnB and made some searches

on the Internet before I go to

unearth you some little New York details

in front of which tons of tourists and

citizens go everyday without even

note them. And as this video

is placed under the traveling

diary, I'm not only showing you

little details. But also unusual

places, some cool moments that we had

even if it's some tourist

stuff. We made a lot of cool things,

we saw unusual shops,

we visited museums, we took a boat,

we saw Hip-Hop in the streets

We climbed on super high things

We were at concerts

We ate

ate, ate, ate, ate...

Yes, it makes me feel happy, and so, not you ?

And above all we walked, walked

walked, walkes, walked.

And from time to time we took the time to

stop and focus on little details

Little details that nobody could see

In crowded places

Like here, in Wall-Street :

Nobody notice the disturbing detail

that stands in front of the number 23.

On this wall, we can see traces

of a bomb explosion, it blew

in an attack on the 16th of September 1920.

It killed 39 persons and

made a lot of casualties.

We can sadly highlight that

before the 9/11, this terrorist

attack was the deadliest

of New-York history, the fragments

are still there to witness and

nobody seems to notice them.

New-York is filled with little unusual

details that we don't notice on the first

look. For exemple this clock

inlaying in the ground for nearly

100 years, which stands in front of what used

to be a jeweler's shop :

William Barthman, who installed it in

1884. In fact, it's not in its

original condition beacause he was the only one with his

employee to know how to fix the clock

and years later, it was a bit a

shame for a jeweler's shop to have

a watch that doesn't work, so

they replaced it. It has been estimated that nearly

50 000 persons walk on it everyday.

Once again, it still goes unnoticed.

Ok, we also made tourist

stuff, and as "cultured" guys

we went to the museum

And of course it was impossible for me to

miss the Met.

I'm in the Met, it's enormous !

There are a lot of characters whose we

talked about, look at Aphrodite !

Wow, what a beautiful women !

And here you recognize Hercule with his

Lion's skin

What a bum !

This, look, it's the three graces.

Like Francis Huster said

"New-york is about straws and the metro"

So I wanted to take a symbol that

combines both : the famous

underground ventilation shaft on which the wind caught Marilyn's

white dress in the movie "The Seven Year Itch"

But it's not easy to find :

Nothing indicates it and nobody seems

to know that it's here on the 15th of September

1954, the scene has been filmed before being

remade in studio for the movie beacause

as many visitors came

to see her panties

the takes were useless.

The plate is still there even if

nothing indicates it and people pass

today with indifference in front of

a place which made a big crowd before.

By the way, in the subway, the unusual is

often at the rendezvous in the

NY's, for example in the station between

the 14th and the 8th avenue, a curious underground

life came to the place and abound

between the unconcerned bystanders. It is

the American sculptor Tom Otterness's

work installed since 2001, that he

simply named

"Life Underground"
