Zohran Mamdani—The Democratic Establishment Is DEAD

  • 0:00 - 0:03
    Democrats suddenly hate masks. Zoran
  • 0:03 - 0:05
Mandani won the New York City Democratic
  • 0:05 - 0:09
    mayoral primary. And Republicans can't
  • 0:09 - 0:11
agree on the big beautiful bill. I
  • 0:11 - 0:14
    assume Trump's thinking
    they don't know
  • 0:14 - 0:16
    what the they're doing.
    Then more on
  • 0:16 - 0:18
    this week's America Uncovered headlines.
  • 0:18 - 0:20
    [Music]
  • 0:20 - 0:21
Welcome to America Uncovered. I'm Chris
  • 0:21 - 0:24
Chapel. You know, between all the wars,
  • 0:24 - 0:28
economic anxiety, and civil unrest, I
  • 0:28 - 0:30
figured it'd be nice to start with
  • 0:30 - 0:32
    something low-key and light-hearted.
  • 0:32 - 0:35
Abortion. This week marked the 3-year
  • 0:35 - 0:38
anniversary of the end of Roie Wade.
  • 0:38 - 0:40
Since then, over 100 abortion clinics
  • 0:40 - 0:43
have closed down across the US, and 65
  • 0:43 - 0:45
of those clinic closures happened in
  • 0:45 - 0:47
states where there haven't been new
  • 0:47 - 0:49
    limits placed on abortion.
  • 0:49 - 0:52
and even more could soon close as the
  • 0:52 - 0:55
Supreme Court ruled that states can cut
  • 0:55 - 0:57
    off Medicaid funding to Planned
  • 0:57 - 0:59
Parenthood. Despite this, the number of
  • 0:59 - 1:03
abortions actually kept rising in 2024
  • 1:03 - 1:06
    thanks to teaalth prescriptions. So,
  • 1:06 - 1:08
just like with Amazon, online ordering
  • 1:08 - 1:11
    is killing brickandmortar stores.
  • 1:11 - 1:13
They're shutting down both mom and pop
  • 1:13 - 1:16
shops and clinics for people who don't
  • 1:16 - 1:18
want to become moms and pops. Speaking
  • 1:18 - 1:20
of things that are slowly dying off, a
  • 1:20 - 1:22
recent Associated Press NORC Center for
  • 1:22 - 1:25
Public Affairs research poll shows that
  • 1:25 - 1:27
support for green energy tax credits and
  • 1:27 - 1:30
offshore wind is falling among Democrats
  • 1:30 - 1:32
and independents. So, does this mean the
  • 1:32 - 1:34
left no longer cares about the
  • 1:34 - 1:36
    environment? Not necessarily. It could
  • 1:36 - 1:39
be that support for new, less tested,
  • 1:39 - 1:42
and more expensive types of energy are
  • 1:42 - 1:43
harder to support when everything else
  • 1:43 - 1:46
is so expensive. people might be more in
  • 1:46 - 1:48
favor of switching from gas to electric
  • 1:48 - 1:50
stoves to cook their eggs if they could
  • 1:50 - 1:52
afford eggs. That being said, the price
  • 1:52 - 1:55
of eggs has dropped significantly since
  • 1:55 - 1:57
Trump took office 5 months ago. Some on
  • 1:57 - 1:59
the right will say it's because of
  • 1:59 - 2:01
    Trump's genius negotiating and economic
  • 2:01 - 2:04
skills. Some on the left will say it's
  • 2:04 - 2:05
because the record number of chicken
  • 2:05 - 2:07
deaths from a bird flu outbreak is
  • 2:07 - 2:09
subsiding. But of course, here at
  • 2:09 - 2:11
American Covered, we know the truth.
  • 2:11 - 2:12
It's because President Trump pulled the
  • 2:12 - 2:14
price of eggs lever located behind the
  • 2:14 - 2:16
desk in the Oval Office that every
  • 2:16 - 2:18
    president has access to. Hopefully,
  • 2:18 - 2:21
he'll keep that price of gas lever in
  • 2:21 - 2:23
place while this whole Iran situation
  • 2:23 - 2:26
situates. Speaking of things the left
  • 2:26 - 2:28
and the right can't agree on, again,
  • 2:28 - 2:31
masks. I guess everyone is feeling
  • 2:31 - 2:33
nostalgic over the golden era that was
  • 2:33 - 2:35
    2020.
  • 2:35 - 2:37
    Many protesters have complained about
  • 2:37 - 2:39
    ICE agents wearing masks amid
  • 2:39 - 2:42
    immigration crackdowns. Border SAR Tom
  • 2:42 - 2:44
Hman says this is for the safety of ICE
  • 2:44 - 2:46
    officers.
    Why are they wearing masks?
  • 2:46 - 2:48
Cuz they're trying to protect themselves
  • 2:48 - 2:49
and their families. They got a dangerous
  • 2:49 - 2:52
job to do and they're being doxed every
  • 2:52 - 2:53
    day across this country.
    So, they're
  • 2:53 - 2:55
essentially wearing masks for the same
  • 2:55 - 2:57
    reason Spider-Man wears a mask. I guess
  • 2:57 - 2:59
that explains why some think they're
  • 2:59 - 3:01
heroes while others think they're a
  • 3:01 - 3:03
menace. Though the people saying that
  • 3:03 - 3:05
about ICE agents tend to look a little
  • 3:05 - 3:07
more like this. Of course, anti-ICE
  • 3:07 - 3:10
    protesters are also wearing masks,
  • 3:10 - 3:12
    upsetting many, including President
  • 3:12 - 3:13
Trump, who thinks they shouldn't be
  • 3:13 - 3:16
allowed to wear masks. To explain what I
  • 3:16 - 3:18
    assume these protesters are thinking
  • 3:18 - 3:20
when they dawn a mask, once again,
  • 3:20 - 3:23
    here's Borders Tom Hman.
    Why are they
  • 3:23 - 3:24
wearing masks? Cuz they're trying to
  • 3:24 - 3:25
    protect themselves and their families.
  • 3:25 - 3:27
They got a dangerous job to do and
  • 3:27 - 3:29
they're being doxed every day across
  • 3:29 - 3:31
this country. Either that or it's to
  • 3:31 - 3:33
prevent the inhalation of burning Whimo
  • 3:33 - 3:36
fumes. Of course, there are real
  • 3:36 - 3:37
    concerns about law enforcement officers
  • 3:37 - 3:40
    not properly identifying themselves and
  • 3:40 - 3:42
how bad actors could use this to
  • 3:42 - 3:44
    impersonate them. Multiple ICE
  • 3:44 - 3:46
    impersonation arrests have been made
  • 3:46 - 3:47
    during these nationwide immigration
  • 3:47 - 3:50
    crackdowns, including a Florida woman
  • 3:50 - 3:52
who is accused of impersonating an ICE
  • 3:52 - 3:56
agent to kidnap her ex-boyfriend's wife.
  • 3:56 - 3:58
    Remember, never underestimate Florida
  • 3:58 - 4:02
woman. She's just as crazy and even more
  • 4:02 - 4:04
    resourceful than Florida man. Yay,
  • 4:04 - 4:06
    feminism.
  • 4:06 - 4:08
Of course, there are real concerns about
  • 4:08 - 4:10
    protesters concealing their identities
  • 4:10 - 4:12
and how bad actors could use this to
  • 4:12 - 4:14
impersonate them too while doing things
  • 4:14 - 4:18
like say setting Whimos on fire. I feel
  • 4:18 - 4:20
like there's an obvious compromise here.
  • 4:20 - 4:22
ICE agents and protesters both agree to
  • 4:22 - 4:24
stop wearing masks. Of course, that
  • 4:24 - 4:26
would never work because that promise
  • 4:26 - 4:28
would be broken quicker than the Iran
  • 4:28 - 4:30
Israel ceasefire. And wouldn't he even
  • 4:30 - 4:32
give us the greatest presidential quotes
  • 4:32 - 4:35
since there is nothing to fear but fear
  • 4:35 - 4:37
itself or ask not what your country can
  • 4:37 - 4:39
do for you, ask what you can do for your
  • 4:39 - 4:41
    country.
    They don't know what the
  • 4:41 - 4:44
    they're doing.
    He has the best words.
  • 4:44 - 4:46
Though to be fair, I think Trump should
  • 4:46 - 4:47
say that in every setting because it
  • 4:47 - 4:50
always fits. And after the break, Zoran
  • 4:50 - 4:53
Mamani wins the New York City Democratic
  • 4:53 - 4:55
mayoral primary, setting everyone up for
  • 4:55 - 4:58
    yet another very interesting November,
  • 4:58 - 5:00
    at least in New York.
  • 5:00 - 5:03
Welcome back. Zora Mdani has declared
  • 5:03 - 5:05
victory in the New York City Democratic
  • 5:05 - 5:08
mayoral primary has disgraced former New
  • 5:08 - 5:11
    York Governor Andrew Cuomo conceded.
  • 5:11 - 5:13
This was a come from behind victory for
  • 5:13 - 5:15
Mamani who was trailing Cuomo in the
  • 5:15 - 5:17
polls until just this week which is
  • 5:17 - 5:19
surprising that it wasn't Cuomo who
  • 5:19 - 5:21
snuck up from behind someone without
  • 5:21 - 5:23
them expecting or wanting it. Mdani won
  • 5:23 - 5:26
by over 7 percentage points, killing
  • 5:26 - 5:28
Cuomo's hopes of becoming mayor faster
  • 5:28 - 5:30
than his policies killed grandmas and
  • 5:30 - 5:33
nursing homes while he was governor.
  • 5:33 - 5:35
Still no consequences for that. By the
  • 5:35 - 5:36
way, this isn't just an embarrassing
  • 5:36 - 5:39
loss for Cuomo, but for establishment
  • 5:39 - 5:41
    Democrats generally. Mdani is a
  • 5:41 - 5:44
Democratic socialist and ran on policies
  • 5:44 - 5:47
such as free bus fair, rent freezes,
  • 5:47 - 5:50
reducing police in high crime areas, and
  • 5:50 - 5:52
replacing them with social workers and
  • 5:52 - 5:55
city-owned grocery stores. Yeah, I'm not
  • 5:55 - 5:56
sure how I feel about the people who
  • 5:56 - 6:00
handle the DMV handling my crab cakes.
  • 6:00 - 6:02
Andrew Cuomo had the largest super PAC
  • 6:02 - 6:04
for a New York mayoral campaign, ranking
  • 6:04 - 6:08
in $25 million in donations, mostly from
  • 6:08 - 6:09
    business interests and billionaires like
  • 6:09 - 6:12
former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg.
  • 6:12 - 6:14
And he even received an endorsement from
  • 6:14 - 6:17
    Bill Clinton. Remember Bill Clinton?
  • 6:17 - 6:19
Everyone still loves him, right? This is
  • 6:19 - 6:20
like trying to appeal to the youth with
  • 6:20 - 6:23
Metamucil lattes. Some are pointing out
  • 6:23 - 6:25
that this shows just how out of touch
  • 6:25 - 6:26
and oblivious to their own hypocrisy
  • 6:26 - 6:28
    Democrats are criticizing Trump for
  • 6:28 - 6:31
allegedly being a sex pest while running
  • 6:31 - 6:33
a sex pest of their own. But hey, that
  • 6:33 - 6:35
was like a couple of years ago and he's
  • 6:35 - 6:37
totally changed. Even though he never
  • 6:37 - 6:40
apologized or admitted fault and said he
  • 6:40 - 6:41
just seemed creepy because he was
  • 6:41 - 6:43
Italian. You know, I can't help but
  • 6:43 - 6:45
    notice Mario never received any
  • 6:45 - 6:47
allegations. You didn't see him getting
  • 6:47 - 6:49
cancelled during the It's a Me Too
  • 6:49 - 6:51
    movement.
  • 6:51 - 6:52
Some say this election could show a
  • 6:52 - 6:54
public shift in Democrats favoring more
  • 6:54 - 6:56
    progressive candidates. But it could
  • 6:56 - 6:58
also just show that all the moderate
  • 6:58 - 7:00
Democrats didn't show up for the
  • 7:00 - 7:02
primary, perhaps because the current New
  • 7:02 - 7:04
York mayor, Eric Adams, is running for
  • 7:04 - 7:07
    reelection as an independent. He
  • 7:07 - 7:08
    officially announced it after the
  • 7:08 - 7:10
primary, but it's been in the news for
  • 7:10 - 7:12
months. Some think the results of the
  • 7:12 - 7:14
primary are going to cause chaos in
  • 7:14 - 7:16
    Democratic primaries and hurt the
  • 7:16 - 7:17
party's chances of retaking the House in
  • 7:17 - 7:19
the midterms next year. Not to mention
  • 7:19 - 7:21
the fact that Republicans are using
  • 7:21 - 7:24
    Democratic Socialist Mandani's victory
  • 7:24 - 7:26
as ammunition to label Democrats as
  • 7:26 - 7:30
extremists. So, should he become mayor?
  • 7:30 - 7:32
Will Mam Dani lead New York to a new
  • 7:32 - 7:35
golden age or into a socialist dystopia?
  • 7:35 - 7:38
Only time will tell. But if his policies
  • 7:38 - 7:40
are an abject failure, then Republicans
  • 7:40 - 7:42
will have the perfect campaign slogan
  • 7:42 - 7:44
    when running against similar candidates.
  • 7:44 - 7:46
They don't know what the they're doing.
  • 7:46 - 7:50
Told you it always fits. In a 6-3
  • 7:50 - 7:53
decision, shocker, the US Supreme Court
  • 7:53 - 7:55
    lifted a judicial order limiting
  • 7:55 - 7:57
    deportations of illegal immigrants to
  • 7:57 - 8:00
countries not their own. The previous
  • 8:00 - 8:01
    judicial order stated the Trump
  • 8:01 - 8:03
    administration must provide those that
  • 8:03 - 8:05
were about to be deported to quote
  • 8:05 - 8:07
    unquote third countries a meaningful
  • 8:07 - 8:09
opportunity to explain to US officials
  • 8:09 - 8:12
the harm they could face in the areas
  • 8:12 - 8:14
they were being sent to. The
  • 8:14 - 8:15
    conservative justices feel the lower
  • 8:15 - 8:18
    court overstepped its authority. The
  • 8:18 - 8:20
    liberal justices feel these deportations
  • 8:20 - 8:22
are a violation of the constitution. And
  • 8:22 - 8:24
I feel the fact we so obviously know
  • 8:24 - 8:26
    which justices are conservative and
  • 8:26 - 8:29
liberal is not great. Scotas' ruling was
  • 8:29 - 8:31
an emergency order, meaning it was
  • 8:31 - 8:33
    decided without hearing oral arguments.
  • 8:33 - 8:36
So this practice stands for now, but
  • 8:36 - 8:37
could be brought back and re-evaluated
  • 8:37 - 8:40
by the court in the future. But I'm
  • 8:40 - 8:41
feeling like I have another one of my
  • 8:41 - 8:43
    great ideas.
  • 8:43 - 8:46
For every 100 illegal immigrants the US
  • 8:46 - 8:49
deports to a third country, send one of
  • 8:49 - 8:52
them to Aruba. You do this, you'd have
  • 8:52 - 8:54
some American citizens pretending to be
  • 8:54 - 8:56
    illegal immigrants for that opportunity.
  • 8:56 - 8:59
This way, it's a little more humane and
  • 8:59 - 9:01
we can get rid of all of our degenerate
  • 9:01 - 9:03
gamblers. Speaking of things that are
  • 9:03 - 9:06
seemingly a big gamble, the big
  • 9:06 - 9:08
    beautiful bill.
  • 9:08 - 9:10
Senate Majority Leader John Thun told
  • 9:10 - 9:12
Axios he's planning a make orb breakak
  • 9:12 - 9:16
weekend vote on the BBB with voting
  • 9:16 - 9:18
beginning on Friday. If passed, it'll be
  • 9:18 - 9:20
sent to the House for its final
  • 9:20 - 9:22
approval. Trump wants it on his desk to
  • 9:22 - 9:25
be signed before July 4th. Partly
  • 9:25 - 9:27
because that's when Congress goes on a
  • 9:27 - 9:29
recess and also probably because nobody
  • 9:29 - 9:31
likes signing anything when you still
  • 9:31 - 9:33
got the meat sweats from all those
  • 9:33 - 9:36
Independence Day hot dogs. Nothing says
  • 9:36 - 9:39
    screw you Britain like processed
  • 9:39 - 9:41
    nitratefilled
  • 9:41 - 9:44
    beef.
  • 9:44 - 9:47
Soon says senators will stay in DC until
  • 9:47 - 9:49
the bill is passed as they figure out
  • 9:49 - 9:51
ways to slim it down locked in while
  • 9:51 - 9:53
figuring out how to slim something down.
  • 9:53 - 9:55
    It sounds less like congressional
  • 9:55 - 9:58
compromise and more like fat camp. So
  • 9:58 - 10:00
Thun wants to get the vote on the bill
  • 10:00 - 10:02
done. However, it's uncertain if this
  • 10:02 - 10:04
will happen, as the bill has seen
  • 10:04 - 10:06
internal push back from the GOP since
  • 10:06 - 10:09
    seemingly its inception, and Senate
  • 10:09 - 10:11
    parliamentarian Elizabeth McDonald
  • 10:11 - 10:13
rejected key Medicaid cuts in the bill,
  • 10:13 - 10:15
which could force Thoon to scrap his
  • 10:15 - 10:16
plan to bring it up to a vote this
  • 10:16 - 10:19
weekend altogether. On top of all that,
  • 10:19 - 10:21
polls show it's unpopular, and the
  • 10:21 - 10:23
    Congressional Budget Office predicts the
  • 10:23 - 10:26
    bill, while offering economic gains,
  • 10:26 - 10:29
could add $2.8 trillion to the deficit.
  • 10:29 - 10:31
If this adds more to our deficit and is
  • 10:31 - 10:33
a negative on the economy, hopefully it
  • 10:33 - 10:35
won't lead to more businesses closing
  • 10:35 - 10:37
down, like all those mom and pop
  • 10:37 - 10:39
abortion clinics for people who don't
  • 10:39 - 10:42
want to be moms and pops. And before you
