-
Democrats suddenly hate masks.
-
Zoran Mandani won the New York City Democratic mayoral primary
-
. And Republicans can't agree on the big beautiful bill
-
. I assume Trump's thinking
they don't know
-
what the they're doing.
Then more on
-
this week's America Uncovered headlines.
-
[Music]
-
Welcome to America Uncovered. I'm Chris Chapel
-
. You know, between all the wars,
-
economic anxiety, and civil unrest
-
, I figured it'd be nice to start with something low-key and light-hearted.
-
Abortion. This week marked the 3-year
-
anniversary of the end of Roie Wade.
-
Since then, over 100 abortion clinics
-
have closed down across the US,
-
and 65 of those clinic closures happened in states
-
where there haven't been new limits placed on abortion
-
and even more could soon close as the
-
Supreme Court ruled that states can cut
-
off Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood
-
. Despite this, the number of abortions actually kept rising in 2024
-
thanks to teaalth prescriptions.
-
So, just like with Amazon, online ordering
-
is killing brickandmortar stores.
-
They're shutting down both mom and pop shops
-
and clinics for people who don't want to become moms and pops
-
. Speaking of things that are slowly dying off
-
, a recent Associated Press NORC Center for
-
Public Affairs research poll shows that
-
support for green energy tax credits and
-
offshore wind is falling among Democrats and independents
-
. So, does this mean the
-
left no longer cares about the environment?
-
Not necessarily.
-
It could be that support for new, less tested,
-
and more expensive types of energy are
-
harder to support when everything else
-
is so expensive.
-
people might be more in favor of switching from gas to electric
-
stoves to cook their eggs if they could afford eggs
-
. That being said
-
, the price of eggs has dropped significantly since Trump took office 5 months ago
-
. Some on the right will say it's because of Trump's genius negotiating
-
and economic skills.
-
Some on the left will say it's
-
because the record number of chicken
-
deaths from a bird flu outbreak is subsiding
-
. But of course, here at American Covered, we know the truth.
-
It's because President Trump pulled the
-
price of eggs lever located behind the
-
desk in the Oval Office that every
-
president has access to.
-
Hopefully, he'll keep that price of gas lever in
-
place while this whole Iran situation situates
-
. Speaking of things the left
-
and the right can't agree on, again, masks
-
. I guess everyone is feeling
-
nostalgic over the golden era that was 2020.
-
Many protesters have complained about
-
ICE agents wearing masks amid
-
immigration crackdowns.
-
Border SAR Tom Hman says this is for the safety of ICE officers.
-
Why are they wearing masks?
-
Cuz they're trying to protect themselves
-
and their families. They got a dangerous
-
job to do and they're being doxed every day across this country.
-
So, they're essentially wearing masks for the same
-
reason Spider-Man wears a mask.
-
I guess that explains why some think they're heroes
-
while others think they're a menace
-
. Though the people saying that
-
about ICE agents tend to look a little more like this
-
. Of course, anti-ICE protesters are also wearing masks,
-
upsetting many, including President Trump
-
, who thinks they shouldn't be
-
allowed to wear masks
-
. To explain what I assume these protesters are thinking
-
when they dawn a mask, once again,
-
here's Borders Tom Hman.
Why are they
-
wearing masks? Cuz they're trying to
-
protect themselves and their families.
-
They got a dangerous job to do and
-
they're being doxed every day across this country
-
. Either that or it's to
-
prevent the inhalation of burning Whimo fumes
-
. Of course, there are real
-
concerns about law enforcement officers
-
not properly identifying themselves and
-
how bad actors could use this to impersonate them
-
. Multiple ICE impersonation arrests have been made
-
during these nationwide immigration crackdowns,
-
including a Florida woman
-
who is accused of impersonating an ICE
-
agent to kidnap her ex-boyfriend's wife.
-
Remember, never underestimate Florida woman
-
. She's just as crazy and even more resourceful than Florida man
-
Yay, feminism.
-
Of course, there are real concerns about
-
protesters concealing their identities
-
and how bad actors could use this to
-
impersonate them too while doing things
-
like say setting Whimos on fire
-
. I feel like there's an obvious compromise here.
-
ICE agents and protesters both agree to
-
stop wearing masks.
-
Of course, that would never work because that promise would be broken quicker
-
than the Iran Israel ceasefire
-
. And wouldn't he even
-
give us the greatest presidential quotes since
-
there is nothing to fear but fear
-
itself or ask not what your country can
-
do for you, ask what you can do for your country
-
.
They don't know what t e they're doing.
-
He has the best words.
-
Though to be fair, I think Trump should
-
say that in every setting because it always fits
-
. And after the break, Zoran
-
Mamani wins the New York City Democratic
-
mayoral primary, setting everyone up for
-
yet another very interesting November,
-
at least in New York.
-
Welcome back.
-
Zora Mdani has declared
-
victory in the New York City Democratic
-
mayoral primary has disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo conceded.
-
This was a come from behind victory for Mamani
-
who was trailing Cuomo in the polls until just this week
-
which is surprising that it wasn't Cuomo who
-
snuck up from behind someone without
-
them expecting or wanting it.
-
Mdani won by over 7 percentage points,
-
killing Cuomo's hopes of becoming mayor faster
-
than his policies killed grandmas and
-
nursing homes while he was governor.
-
Still no consequences for that.
-
By the way, this isn't just an embarrassing
-
loss for Cuomo,
-
but for establishment Democrats generally.
-
Mdani is a Democratic socialist and ran on policies
-
such as free bus fair, rent freezes,
-
reducing police in high crime areas, and
-
replacing them with social workers and
-
city-owned grocery stores.
-
Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about the people who
-
handle the DMV handling my crab cakes.
-
Andrew Cuomo had the largest super PAC
-
for a New York mayoral campaign, ranking
-
in $25 million in donations, mostly from
-
business interests and billionaires like
-
former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg.
-
And he even received an endorsement from Bill Clinton
-
. Remember Bill Clinton?
-
Everyone still loves him, right?
-
This is like trying to appeal to the youth with Metamucil lattes
-
. Some are pointing out
-
that this shows just how out of touch
-
and oblivious to their own hypocrisy Democrats
-
are criticizing Trump for allegedly being a sex pest
-
while running a sex pest of their own.
-
But hey, that was like a couple of years ago
-
and he's totally changed.
-
Even though he never apologized or admitted fault
-
and said he just seemed creepy because he was Italian
-
. You know, I can't help but
-
notice Mario never received any allegations
-
. You didn't see him getting
-
cancelled during the It's a Me Too movement
-
Some say this election could show a
-
public shift in Democrats favoring more progressive candidates
-
. But it could
-
also just show that all the moderate
-
Democrats didn't show up for the primary
-
, perhaps because the current New York mayor, Eric Adams
-
, is running for reelection as an independent
-
. He officially announced it after the primary
-
, but it's been in the news for months
-
. Some think the results of the
-
primary are going to cause chaos in
-
Democratic primaries and hurt the
-
party's chances of retaking the House in the midterms next year
-
Not to mention the fact that Republicans
-
are using Democratic Socialist Mandani's victory
-
as ammunition to label Democrats as extremists
-
. So, should he become mayor?
-
Will Mam Dani lead New York to a new golden age
-
or into a socialist dystopia?
-
Only time will tell. But if his policies
-
are an abject failure, then Republicans
-
will have the perfect campaign slogan
-
when running against similar candidates.
-
They don't know what the they're doing.
-
Told you it always fits.
-
In a 6-3 decision, shocker
-
, the US Supreme Court lifted a judicial order limiting
-
deportations of illegal immigrants to countries not their own
-
. The previous
-
judicial order stated the Trump
-
administration must provide those that
-
were about to be deported to quote unquote third countries
-
a meaningful opportunity to explain to US officials
-
the harm they could face in the areas
-
they were being sent to.
-
The conservative justices feel the lower
-
court overstepped its authority.
-
The liberal justices feel these deportations
-
are a violation of the constitution.
-
And I feel the fact we so obviously know
-
which justices are conservative and liberal is not great
-
. Scotas' ruling was an emergency order,
-
meaning it was decided without hearing oral arguments.
-
So this practice stands for now
-
, but could be brought back and re-evaluated
-
by the court in the future.
-
But I'm feeling like I have another one of my great ideas.
-
For every 100 illegal immigrants the US deports to a third country
-
, send one of them to Aruba
-
. You do this, you'd have some American citizens pretending to be illegal immigrants
-
for that opportunity.
-
This way, it's a little more humane and
-
we can get rid of all of our degenerate gamblers
-
. Speaking of things that are seemingly a big gamble
-
, the big beautiful bill.
-
Senate Majority Leader John Thun told
-
Axios he's planning a make orb breakak
-
weekend vote on the BBB with voting beginning on Friday
-
. If passed, it'll be
-
sent to the House for its final approval
-
. Trump wants it on his desk to be signed before July 4th
-
. Partly because that's when Congress goes on a recess
-
and also probably because nobody likes signing anything
-
when you still
-
got the meat sweats from all those
-
Independence Day hot dogs.
-
Nothing says screw you Britain
-
like processed nitratefilled beef.
-
Soon says senators will stay in DC until
-
the bill is passed as they figure out
-
ways to slim it down locked in while
-
figuring out how to slim something down.
-
It sounds less like congressional
-
compromise and more like fat camp.
-
So Thun wants to get the vote on the bill done
-
. However, it's uncertain if this will happen
-
, as the bill has seen
-
internal push back from the GOP since seemingly its inception
-
, and Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth McDonald
-
rejected key Medicaid cuts in the bill,
-
which could force Thoon to scrap his
-
plan to bring it up to a vote this weekend altogether.
-
On top of all that,
-
polls show it's unpopular,
-
and the Congressional Budget Office predicts the bill
-
, while offering economic gains,
-
could add $2.8 trillion to the deficit.
-
If this adds more to our deficit and is
-
a negative on the economy, hopefully it
-
won't lead to more businesses closing down
-
, like all those mom and pop abortion clinics
-
for people who don't
-
want to be moms and pops.
