Hi, I'm Billie,

I'm the owner of Fierce Bodies.

We make products for skin and hair

that are fiercely natural and fragrance free.

Right now we're trying to raise $2,300,

and that's basically the amount that we need

for all the supplies, and the raw ingredients,

and the labels and jars to release our first line.

And I'm actually particularly excited for these labels

because we commissioned Christy C. Road [http://www.croadcore.org/]

who's one of my favourite artists, to draw the labels.

And they're really incredible.

I've been making my own skin and hair products

for kind of a while now,

and, um, they're always a big hit.

I give them away as presents every year,

and my friends and family really really enjoy using them,

and have been coming back to me for refills.

Eventually I just realized that it was actually something that, um,

more people might be interested in.

And it would be a good way for me to earn a living from home.

I've been sensitive to, ah, fragrances and airborne chemical pollutants

for about 5 years,

and about 3 years ago I was diagnosed with something called

Benign Metastasizing Leiomyomatosis,

and basically it's a tumor condition and I have lung tumors.

And so, getting that diagnosis just confirmed what I already knew,

which was that I had a lung condition,

that I was sensitive to chemicals.

And uh, myself and my family and my community, we've all worked together to

adjust our lifestyles to make sure that they are very non-toxic.

I really believe that, y'know, people's beauty routines, are part of their...

of how they shape their identity,

and I know that it can be really important for people to have access to things that

make them feel beautiful and, y'know,

keep their skin and hair healthy.

I think that can be something that can be really important for people, for individuals.

And there are some gaps in things that are available

that are fragrance and chemical free.

And, um, once I decided to start Fierce Bodies

I started to get feedback right away,

um, of lots of requests for different kinds of products.

And the first thing that people asked for were hair products.

So that's what we're starting with.

Assuming that our fuindraising campaign is successful,

we will have a full line for release in late summer (2011),

and that will be available on our website

fiercebodies.com

and also hopefully through some local stores.

If you don't see the product that you're looking for in our first line,

don't worry, let us know and we'll probably make it in the future,

so still donate.
