Silent Sitting with Mooji ~ Easter 2019

  • 0:09 - 0:12
    Silent Sitting
    (with subtitles)
  • 0:12 - 0:15
    Easter Sunday 2019
  • 2:37 - 2:43
    [Mooji] Om. Namaste.
    Welcome all to satsang today,
  • 2:43 - 2:46
    to this silent sitting,
  • 2:46 - 2:49
which I dedicate to the name
    and the living presence
  • 2:49 - 2:58
of the Lord Jesus Christ, on this Easter day.
  • 2:58 - 3:04
    The sitting will be
approximately 30, 35 minutes, or so.
  • 3:04 - 3:08
It is never strict, in this way.
  • 3:08 - 3:12
For large parts of the sitting,
    there will just be silence,
  • 3:12 - 3:15
but occasionally, as prompted from inside,
  • 3:15 - 3:21
I may bring some guidance, some words to you.
  • 3:21 - 3:25
Please sit in a way that you are comfortable.
  • 3:25 - 3:29
    And of course,
if you come into contact accidentally,
  • 3:29 - 3:32
or naturally, with those sitting next to you,
  • 3:32 - 3:35
it is nothing at all, it is fine.
  • 3:35 - 3:38
    Just remain comfortable,
  • 3:38 - 3:41
    in such a way that,
you can sit without moving about,
  • 3:41 - 3:44
for the next half an hour, or so.
  • 3:49 - 3:54
At the end of the sitting, I will ring the bell
  • 3:54 - 3:58
    just to indicate that
the session is over, for the moment.
  • 3:58 - 4:06
    You will notice that
the deep inner silence is not affected
  • 4:06 - 4:09
by such things as end of sessions,
    or something like that.
  • 4:09 - 4:14
I ask you to remain seated, as I leave the room.
  • 4:14 - 4:17
And those of you, who wish to sit behind
  • 4:17 - 4:21
and to continue marinating in that silence,
  • 4:21 - 4:23
you are very welcome to do that.
  • 4:23 - 4:28
Others, you move about, as quietly as you can.
  • 4:28 - 4:30
    Thank you.
  • 4:55 - 4:59
    In the holy name
and presence of the Lord Jesus Christ,
  • 4:59 - 5:07
    whose spirit and presence
dwell happily here in Monte Sahaja,
  • 5:07 - 5:11
in the hearts of all beings,
  • 5:11 - 5:18
    we dedicate this sitting. Amen.
  • 5:18 - 5:23
    [sound of the bell]
  • 5:52 - 5:56
Do whatever feels comfortable for you.
  • 5:56 - 5:59
There are times, when you may want
    to open your eyes,
  • 5:59 - 6:02
or to keep your eyes closed.
  • 6:02 - 6:06
This is perfectly natural. Be comfortable.
  • 6:45 - 6:54
The real silence is not something that we do.
  • 6:54 - 7:03
It is not simply keeping quiet by not speaking.
  • 7:03 - 7:09
Real silence is not in control of anyone.
  • 7:09 - 7:15
It is the nature of being.
  • 7:15 - 7:19
    It is not a doing.
  • 7:19 - 7:26
It is synonymous with our inmost Being.
  • 7:37 - 7:42
    It is to be recognised,
  • 7:42 - 7:50
    rather than the sense
    that we are doing something.
  • 7:50 - 7:54
    In order to recognise it,
  • 7:54 - 7:59
    don't follow the thought energy,
    or the mind energy.
  • 7:59 - 8:06
Stay only in the witnessing of that,
    but detached witnessing,
  • 8:06 - 8:09
    witnessing without identity.
  • 8:15 - 8:21
Do not label yourself as a witnesser.
  • 8:21 - 8:25
    Let there be only witnessing,
  • 8:25 - 8:30
    spontaneous and automatic,
  • 8:30 - 8:34
    where and when necessary.
  • 8:34 - 8:38
    Otherwise, remain empty.
  • 10:05 - 10:10
We cannot stop thoughts from coming,
  • 10:10 - 10:16
but you can stop your attention
    from following them.
  • 10:16 - 10:25
Remain in the natural neutrality of emptiness.
  • 10:46 - 10:57
Be aware that the mind's habit is to create,
    to move about.
  • 11:01 - 11:07
But you, the one who observes the mind,
    are ever still.
  • 11:13 - 11:19
Mind is like the wind, it moves about.
  • 11:19 - 11:25
But your Self is like space.
  • 11:25 - 11:27
    It is infinite.
  • 11:27 - 11:31
    It does not move about.
  • 11:38 - 11:44
What tends to move about with the mind
    is attention,
  • 11:44 - 11:48
one of your intimate tools and powers.
  • 11:54 - 11:57
But there is something beyond attention,
  • 11:57 - 12:01
    more present than attention,
  • 12:01 - 12:07
in which even the movement of attention
    is observed.
  • 12:07 - 12:09
    Be here.
  • 12:26 - 12:32
    Unlike the mind energy,
  • 12:32 - 12:38
the pure consciousness Self does not move about.
  • 12:38 - 12:44
    It is the limitless Self.
  • 12:44 - 12:47
    It is pure silence.
  • 12:47 - 12:51
But it is not being silent!
  • 12:55 - 13:01
    It is silence itself.
  • 13:01 - 13:06
Silence has no doer behind it.
  • 13:38 - 13:47
If some tension appears inside the body,
  • 13:47 - 13:54
it means nothing at all; ignore that.
  • 14:02 - 14:08
Here, in the very heart of being,
  • 14:08 - 14:12
    there is nothing to do,
  • 14:12 - 14:17
or to change, or to fix,
  • 14:17 - 14:24
or to create, or to become.
  • 14:24 - 14:29
    There is nothing to leave.
    There is nowhere to go.
  • 14:33 - 14:39
It is entirely beyond all states of the mind.
  • 14:43 - 14:48
    It is your natural state.
  • 14:54 - 14:58
    Yet it is not rigid.
  • 14:58 - 15:03
    It is not controlling.
  • 15:03 - 15:08
    It is without fear.
  • 15:08 - 15:12
    Recognise this.
  • 16:19 - 16:25
Whatever appears in the mind has no reality.
  • 16:29 - 16:38
    Like clouds passing,
there is no permanence about them.
  • 16:38 - 16:44
Neither time, nor change exist without you,
  • 16:44 - 16:50
    the one who observes them.
  • 16:50 - 16:55
If there is no you, there is no time.
  • 17:01 - 17:05
You are the witness of time and change,
  • 17:05 - 17:10
    yourself being the unchanging one.
  • 17:16 - 17:21
    Do not doubt this.
  • 17:21 - 17:27
    Look and confirm
  • 17:27 - 17:29
    in your silence.
  • 17:40 - 17:46
This body is not the proof that you exist.
  • 17:50 - 17:57
There was never a time when you were not.
  • 17:57 - 18:01
I am not speaking about your person.
  • 18:01 - 18:07
Your person also does not truly exist.
  • 18:07 - 18:15
    What exists eternally is consciousness,
  • 18:15 - 18:19
    the very heart of God.
  • 18:32 - 18:41
    Be in great joy
that your existence is included in God,
  • 18:51 - 18:59
    who has placed the intelligence,
    the power of discernment,
  • 18:59 - 19:02
    that you may recognise Him,
  • 19:06 - 19:12
who alone is real and unchanging.
  • 19:16 - 19:23
It is the unchanging within ourselves
    that is the eternal.
  • 19:28 - 19:33
This body is a time body.
  • 19:33 - 19:44
It has a birth time, a life time and an end time.
  • 19:44 - 19:52
But the spirit in you is immortal.
  • 19:52 - 19:57
It is synonymous with pure consciousness.
  • 19:57 - 20:01
    It exists beyond history.
  • 20:10 - 20:15
There is no need to imagine this.
  • 20:35 - 20:40
Be in the now, without the 'then'.
  • 21:02 - 21:09
Though the egoic mind regards this
    as a kind of restriction,
  • 21:09 - 21:17
in truth, it is your everlasting freedom.
  • 21:17 - 21:21
    Unbound.
  • 21:21 - 21:25
    Unconquerable.
  • 21:38 - 21:48
    Though it appears that
some cloud of ignorance veils the Self,
  • 21:48 - 21:51
    it is an illusion.
  • 21:57 - 22:02
You who perceive the veil, are not veiled.
  • 22:06 - 22:09
    Om.
  • 22:09 - 22:14
    [long silence]
  • 23:10 - 23:14
    Now, leave everything.
  • 23:14 - 23:20
    Every thought, every intention,
  • 23:20 - 23:26
every seed of memory, leave them.
  • 23:26 - 23:31
There is no need to destroy or to throw away.
  • 23:31 - 23:35
    Simply leave everything now,
  • 23:35 - 23:39
even the very idea of yourself.
  • 23:49 - 23:58
If each thing that you could perceive,
    you simply left ...
  • 23:58 - 24:03
    Come more deeply in.
  • 24:03 - 24:09
Do not be combined with any thought,
    or any concept.
  • 24:09 - 24:13
    Are you not still here?
  • 24:17 - 24:21
But as what are you here?
  • 24:27 - 24:35
    Leave all definitions, all intentions,
    all memories.
  • 24:46 - 24:50
    Are you not still here?
  • 24:50 - 24:53
    Are you less?
  • 25:04 - 25:10
    Leave all that is personal
  • 25:10 - 25:16
    and see
  • 25:16 - 25:21
if you can lose your Self.
  • 25:45 - 25:50
Do not be overtaken by sleep.
  • 25:50 - 25:54
Stay in the bright awareness Self.
  • 26:00 - 26:08
    Whatever is passing,
    or whatever appears, is ephemeral.
  • 26:08 - 26:11
    It is not permanent.
  • 26:11 - 26:15
Like clouds, let them float by.
  • 26:15 - 26:18
There is no need to push or pull.
  • 26:18 - 26:22
    Recognise your stillness,
  • 26:22 - 26:27
    your effortless stillness.
  • 26:27 - 26:31
    And be happy.
  • 26:58 - 27:03
In truth, your are not the thinker of thoughts,
  • 27:03 - 27:06
    or the doer of actions,
  • 27:06 - 27:11
or even the enjoyer of this world.
  • 27:11 - 27:15
    All these you perceive.
  • 27:19 - 27:26
In your essential nature, nothing is needed.
  • 27:26 - 27:29
    Pay attention and see.
  • 27:34 - 27:41
It is important to recognise this.
  • 27:41 - 27:48
    Because, when this is known
    and confirmed inside your heart,
  • 27:48 - 27:53
this world will not trouble you.
  • 27:53 - 27:57
It will not be seen as your enemy.
  • 27:57 - 28:04
In fact, it will become the very body of God.
  • 28:41 - 28:47
Notice your own natural stillness and silence.
  • 28:52 - 28:58
    In itself, it never changes.
  • 28:58 - 29:02
It does not go, nor come.
  • 29:13 - 29:17
Do not confuse the movement of the body and mind
  • 29:17 - 29:22
    as your movement.
  • 29:22 - 29:27
And yet, in this dynamic expression of the Self,
  • 29:27 - 29:30
    you are also here.
  • 29:41 - 29:45
    Recognising the real,
  • 29:45 - 29:50
the unreal, the momentary, will not disturb you.
  • 29:54 - 30:01
    God-Consciousness-Brahman is your sole Being.
  • 30:08 - 30:11
    Rejoice in this.
  • 30:38 - 30:45
If there should arise within you
    a feeling of distractedness,
  • 30:50 - 30:54
notice that even this is seen.
  • 30:54 - 30:59
    Don't give it such importance.
  • 30:59 - 31:02
    It is only a sensation.
  • 31:06 - 31:10
It is not a definition of what you are.
  • 31:22 - 31:26
Long before this body came into existence,
  • 31:26 - 31:31
    you already existed as consciousness.
  • 31:50 - 31:54
There is work to be done here,
  • 31:54 - 32:00
    and that is to bring,
from the depth of your being
  • 32:00 - 32:07
    into the dynamic field,
the power and grace of your seeing.
  • 32:21 - 32:29
Because your life in this world
should be the song of God.
  • 33:09 - 33:15
Lord Christ once said in prayer,
  • 33:15 - 33:25
'Father, let me be again with you,
  • 33:25 - 33:30
as I was before the beginning of this world'.
  • 33:36 - 33:40
But when does this world begin?
  • 33:45 - 33:49
    It begins in the mind.
  • 33:53 - 33:58
    You are not the mind.
  • 33:58 - 34:04
    The mind does not exist
without the witness of the mind.
  • 34:09 - 34:15
    Our sense of personhood
  • 34:15 - 34:21
is a brief association of the consciousness
  • 34:21 - 34:28
    with the sense of person;
  • 34:28 - 34:31
    a state we must transcend.
  • 35:41 - 35:48
If heaven is a place, or state,
  • 35:48 - 35:51
where there are beautiful forms of trees
  • 35:51 - 35:58
and beautiful mountains, skies and rivers,
    and beautiful beings,
  • 35:58 - 36:06
then it is also phenomenal, of the highest kind.
  • 36:09 - 36:13
    But in pure consciousness,
  • 36:16 - 36:23
you are even beyond heaven and heavenly states.
  • 36:23 - 36:30
    Oh, don't reject heaven.
  • 36:30 - 36:34
Sahaja itself is a small taste of heaven.
  • 36:39 - 36:43
But that which I point to
  • 36:43 - 36:50
    has been beyond all form,
    and time, and change.
  • 36:50 - 36:56
It is immeasurable. It is limitless.
  • 36:56 - 37:03
    Uncreated and unchanging.
  • 37:03 - 37:08
Know this to be the very essence.
  • 37:16 - 37:22
Yet, don't simply imagine that you are here.
  • 37:26 - 37:30
    Transcend the mind's influence
  • 37:30 - 37:34
by keeping your attention rooted in the Self.
  • 38:06 - 38:11
    Trust in God
  • 38:11 - 38:15
while the sense of individuality and personhood
  • 38:15 - 38:21
or even autonomy remains with us.
  • 38:21 - 38:31
And pray that the supreme One
    absorbs our fragmented attention,
  • 38:31 - 38:35
and that we are merged in that singular being.
  • 38:45 - 38:52
Do not think of yourself as being special.
  • 38:52 - 38:58
    Rather, be nothing.
  • 38:58 - 39:04
Like zero beyond the concept of zero.
  • 39:09 - 39:13
Then everything returns to its essence.
  • 39:36 - 39:40
Don't make the mistake of believing or feeling
  • 39:40 - 39:47
that the pure Self is a high state of feeling.
  • 39:47 - 39:56
    It is much subtler
    than even a feelingless feeling.
  • 39:56 - 39:59
    It is pure awareness.
  • 40:05 - 40:11
It is the only thing that is truly here.
  • 40:11 - 40:16
Everything else is a cloud passing,
  • 40:29 - 40:33
    including the seeker.
  • 40:39 - 40:44
When what the seeker seeks is found,
  • 40:44 - 40:48
    the seeker is no more.
  • 41:03 - 41:08
May what has been shared today
  • 41:08 - 41:14
find its way deep within your being,
  • 41:14 - 41:18
    beyond even remembering,
  • 41:18 - 41:26
into the very core of your own Self.
  • 41:26 - 41:33
Do not let sleep cause you to miss it.
  • 41:33 - 41:39
It is not the time to sleep.
  • 41:39 - 41:45
    As I said before,
You are the seeds of awakening
  • 41:45 - 41:49
    in a sleeping world.
  • 41:49 - 41:52
    Don't sleep now.
  • 42:05 - 42:13
    Though the mind might fight
    on hearing these things,
  • 42:13 - 42:16
    your heart knows these things.
  • 42:16 - 42:20
Honour what is in your heart.
  • 43:12 - 43:16
Lord Jesus Christ and all the saints and prophets
  • 43:16 - 43:19
were lights in this world, and still are.
  • 43:23 - 43:30
    From your pure heart shines
the true light of the world.
  • 43:30 - 43:34
Don't let your mind cover it.
  • 43:43 - 43:51
Mind and ego offer a life
    of pleasures and pursuits,
  • 43:51 - 43:55
with death at the end of it.
  • 43:55 - 43:59
But the heart reveals the life, eternal and pure.
  • 44:03 - 44:06
    You choose.
  • 46:36 - 46:39
The words that have been spoken to you
  • 46:39 - 46:42
    emanated out of my heart.
  • 46:42 - 46:45
    These words will pass,
  • 46:45 - 46:50
but where they come from will never pass.
  • 46:50 - 46:56
They come from the same place
    that you are essentially.
  • 46:56 - 47:02
We are the speaking and the listening,
    and even beyond.
  • 47:09 - 47:13
Do not give these things to your mind.
  • 47:19 - 47:23
If you feel the prayer in your heart,
    then pray to God that
  • 47:23 - 47:34
    real understanding comes
    and washes away all delusions,
  • 47:34 - 47:43
    and awakens in you
the true recognition of your timeless being,
  • 47:43 - 47:50
and your harmony with God, who is Truth.
  • 48:01 - 48:09
Today we honour the spirit of Christ,
  • 48:09 - 48:13
who is also the light shining inside the heart.
  • 48:26 - 48:32
Not only the person of Christ,
    but the Christ consciousness,
  • 48:32 - 48:40
which is not other than Krishna consciousness,
    or Shiva being,
  • 48:40 - 48:46
or the heart and essence of all saints,
prophets and seers of all time.
  • 49:09 - 49:13
Our life is the fruit of their seeing,
  • 49:13 - 49:18
    the testimony of their realisation.
  • 49:47 - 49:53
    The spirit of Christ
    is not an historical phenomenon.
  • 49:53 - 49:59
It is the living and timeless Being,
    the very essence of life,
  • 49:59 - 50:07
the life that is emanating through this body.
  • 50:07 - 50:10
And it is to be known and recognised,
  • 50:10 - 50:16
while this body is still warm.
  • 50:16 - 50:20
While we have the sense of time,
  • 50:20 - 50:25
use time to discover the timeless.
  • 51:32 - 51:39
The Buddha is a true Master.
  • 51:39 - 51:46
Drink directly from the Master's lips
    and the Master's heart.
  • 51:46 - 51:54
Rama, Krishna, Christ, the holy prophets:
  • 51:54 - 52:01
drink directly from the Masters' lips
    and the Masters' heart.
  • 52:01 - 52:06
    Drink the cup of grace.
  • 52:06 - 52:10
But the Lord supreme is beyond all.
  • 52:15 - 52:20
    Beyond all names and forms,
  • 52:20 - 52:26
    He dwells within the heart
    of every sentient being.
  • 52:30 - 52:40
    Begin to find Him
through the vibration 'I am' within you.
  • 52:40 - 52:46
Be one with this intuition, the sense 'I am',
  • 52:46 - 52:53
and don't let it connect with any other concept.
  • 52:59 - 53:05
It will take you to the heart of God.
  • 53:34 - 53:40
    Though I am timeless,
  • 53:40 - 53:47
    in my phenomenal life,
I am here only for a time.
  • 53:47 - 53:52
    Make use of this time
  • 53:52 - 53:57
    to discover and confirm
the timeless within your own self.
  • 54:01 - 54:06
    Then you will know that
I am never apart from you.
  • 54:42 - 54:46
May the peace, the love and wisdom
    of the Lord Jesus Christ
  • 54:46 - 54:57
and all the holy saints and prophets,
    and seers of all time,
  • 54:57 - 55:01
arise and abide in your heart,
  • 55:01 - 55:10
    and support your
recognition and merging in the supreme Self,
  • 55:10 - 55:14
in accordance with the will of God.
  • 55:14 - 55:22
Let it be so. Let it be so. Let it be so.
  • 55:22 - 55:27
    Om, shanti, shanti, shanti.
  • 55:27 - 55:30
    Hallelujah. Amen.
  • 56:16 - 56:20
    [sound of the bell]
  • 56:30 - 56:33
    Om.
