WIKITONGUES: Mohamad speaking Kurmanji Kurdish

  • 0:01 - 0:02
    Hello. Good day.
  • 0:02 - 0:06
My name is Şilovan and now I am speaking
    Kurmanji Kurdish.
  • 0:06 - 0:10
Kurmanji Kurdish is one of the five
    dialects of the Kurdish language.
  • 0:10 - 0:18
The Kurds in Northern and Western
    Kurdistan speaks this dialect,
  • 0:18 - 0:23
while the Kurds in Southern and Eastern
    Kurdistan speaks Sorani.
  • 0:23 - 0:28
Or most of them, to say. But there are
    Kurds there speaking Kurmanji too.
  • 0:29 - 0:35
I learned this language, the Kurmanji
    language, by myself.
  • 0:36 - 0:40
Because in Syria, I came from Syria, from
    Western Kurdistan (Rojava),
  • 0:41 - 0:48
the Kurdish language was forbidden, which
means you can not learn your own language.
  • 0:53 - 0:58
Now I am living in Germany, in the city
    of Köln.
  • 0:59 - 1:07
And... I came to Germany as a refugee,
    in 2015.
  • 1:09 - 1:14
Well, what else can I say about Kurmanji?
  • 1:14 - 1:18
Kurmanji is a very beautiful language.
I like this language really much,
  • 1:19 - 1:23
and I wish the days to come that
    this ban will be removed.
  • 1:23 - 1:29
I mean, every Kurd, or even non-Kurds,
can learn, write and speak this language
  • 1:31 - 1:33
    in every place.
  • 1:35 - 1:36
    That is my wish.
  • 1:37 - 1:42
And, what else, I thank everybody,
  • 1:43 - 1:46
I thank all the watchers of this video,
  • 1:47 - 1:52
and I wish you to stay healthy and joyful.
  • 1:53 - 1:54
    Goodbye.
