  • 0:00 - 0:04
    [Patriotic Music]
  • 0:04 - 0:05
    Hey Missouri!
  • 0:05 - 0:07
    If you want to vote,
    first you need to register.
  • 0:07 - 0:10
You can check if you’re already registered
using the link in the description below.
  • 0:10 - 0:13
But if you aren’t yet, or you need
to update your name or address,
  • 0:13 - 0:14
    you can do it online.
  • 0:14 - 0:17
Boone County uses a different online form
    than the rest of Missouri,
  • 0:17 - 0:18
but both of them are linked below
  • 0:18 - 0:20
You can use a mail-in form
    if that’s easier for you,
  • 0:20 - 0:23
    But however you register,
you have until October 7th to register
  • 0:23 - 0:25
    if you want to vote
    in the November election.
  • 0:25 - 0:26
Once you’re registered you get to vote!
  • 0:26 - 0:29
    For most people that means
heading to the polls on November 3rd,
  • 0:29 - 0:32
but if you’re gonna be out of state
on election day, have an illness,
  • 0:32 - 0:35
    disability, or religious belief that
prevents you from getting to the polls,
  • 0:35 - 0:36
you can apply to vote absentee.
  • 0:36 - 0:39
There’s a link to the application form
below and you have until October 21st
  • 0:39 - 0:41
to fill it out and mail it
    to your local election authority.
  • 0:41 - 0:44
Once you get your ballot in the mail,
fill it out at your own pace,
  • 0:44 - 0:46
and send it back before November 3rd.
  • 0:46 - 0:47
If you qualify for an absentee ballot,
  • 0:47 - 0:49
you can also go to your
    county election authority’s office
  • 0:49 - 0:53
from September 22nd to November 2nd
and vote your absentee ballot in person.
  • 0:53 - 0:54
For everyone else, you can go to the
  • 0:54 - 0:57
polls between 6am and 7pm on November 3rd,
  • 0:57 - 0:59
and there’s a link in the description
to figure out where you need to go to vote.
  • 0:59 - 1:01
You’ll need to bring an ID with you,
  • 1:01 - 1:05
a valid driver’s license, state ID,
    passport, or military ID,
  • 1:05 - 1:07
Student ID from a Missouri college
    or technical school,
  • 1:07 - 1:09
or a current utility bill, bank statement,
  • 1:09 - 1:11
    or paycheck with your name
and address on it will all work.
  • 1:11 - 1:14
You can also use the same link you used
    to check your registration status
  • 1:14 - 1:16
and polling location to take a look at
a sample ballot that tells you
  • 1:16 - 1:18
everything you’ll be able to vote for.
  • 1:18 - 1:20
You don’t have to vote for everything
on the ballot if you don’t want to,
  • 1:20 - 1:22
    but your local elections
    are pretty important,
  • 1:22 - 1:24
    so it’s worth checking out
what’s on there ahead of time.
  • 1:24 - 1:25
You can even take a screenshot,
  • 1:25 - 1:27
or print it out and bring it
    to the polls with you
  • 1:27 - 1:29
    so you don’t forget who
    you wanted to vote for.
  • 1:29 - 1:30
    The best thing to do
if you’re gonna vote this year
  • 1:30 - 1:34
is to make a plan to vote right now.
From what day you're gonna register,
  • 1:34 - 1:36
    to whether you’re gonna vote
    in person or absentee.
  • 1:36 - 1:39
What kind of ID are you
gonna use? And where is it?
  • 1:39 - 1:41
Even what time you’re gonna vote
and how you’re gonna get there.
  • 1:41 - 1:44
Write it down, put it in your
notes app, text it to your friend, just
  • 1:44 - 1:47
    make a plan so that
    nothing unexpected stops you
  • 1:47 - 1:48
from being counted on November 3rd.
  • 1:48 - 1:50
All the links you need to check
    your registration
  • 1:50 - 1:52
    and polling location
    are in the description
  • 1:52 - 1:53
    Thanks for being a voter.
