    to join Metadrasis.
  • 0:41 - 0:43
    Once I joined Metadrasis
  • 0:43 - 0:47

    up until today,
  • 0:47 - 0:49

  • 1:02 - 1:08
and I work as an interpreter
    at Metadrasis, 10 years now.
  • 1:08 - 1:12
    We help refugees a lot,
  • 1:12 - 1:16
and minors because I was also
    a minor and I know
  • 1:16 - 1:20
how it was, how it is
    for the minors.
  • 1:20 - 1:23
    It's extremely difficult
when you are in a country
  • 1:23 - 1:28
    without any help
    and you are completely alone.
  • 1:28 - 1:33
    You need help from people
    who can offer help.
  • 1:33 - 1:38
    Metadrasis has really helped
    minors in this matter
  • 1:38 - 1:41
    and women who are alone,
  • 1:41 - 1:46
men who came with their family
and had no help at all.
  • 1:46 - 1:50
    We have assist them
    through interpretation,
  • 1:50 - 1:53
    dealing any legal manners
  • 1:53 - 1:55
    and…
  • 1:55 - 2:00
    with anything else
    they needed help with.
  • 2:00 - 2:04
    Metadrasis gathered supplies
  • 2:04 - 2:08
    and distribute them
    to families and minors,
  • 2:08 - 2:13
    such as clothes, shoes
    and milk for their children.
  • 2:14 - 2:16
    I'm Aziz,

  • 2:20 - 2:22
    I was an unaccompanied minor.
  • 2:22 - 2:25
I went to the first Transit
    Accommodation Facility
  • 2:25 - 2:30
for minors that was built by
Lora Pappa, at Anogia in Crete,
  • 2:31 - 2:36
    where I stayed
    as an unaccompanied minor.
  • 2:36 - 2:38
    I learned Greek there
  • 2:38 - 2:42
    and then I continued learning
    the Greek language there.
  • 2:43 - 2:47
    In 2010, I was invited
    by Mrs Lora Pappa
  • 2:47 - 2:57
    to join Metadrasis
    as an interpreter.
  • 3:00 - 3:04
    I feel very proud for
    being a part of Metadrasis
  • 3:04 - 3:08
    because I was
    an unaccompanied minor
  • 3:08 - 3:13
and I feel how it is
    to be an unaccompanied minor.
  • 3:15 - 3:24
    When we offer guardianship
    to the unaccompanied minors
  • 3:24 - 3:28
    is very important
    to be part of it.
  • 3:28 - 3:33
I feel very proud to be a member
    of Metadrasis organization.
  • 3:36 - 3:40
Metadrasis is like a family to me.
  • 3:47 - 3:49
    I'm glad to be able
    to help all the children
  • 3:49 - 3:52
    who are minors.
  • 3:56 - 3:58
I am happy to be at Metadrasis
  • 3:58 - 4:01
and I am able to assist
    unaccompanied children.
  • 4:02 - 4:04
    This is the same way
    I got here too.
  • 4:05 - 4:10
    We assist them
    via interpretation,
  • 4:11 - 4:15
    as it is very important
  • 4:15 - 4:19
    for someone to know
    your language and
  • 4:19 - 4:24
    to be able to say
    what you want and feel.
  • 4:24 - 4:28
    To be able to have
    someone to hear you out.
