Garcell, [br]Leodanis Pozo Ramos and Leonel Salazar 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Videaux in Holguín, Cuba. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And this is the screenshot. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 The mais goal of VideoMorph is to focus[br]is a single purpose making video conversion 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 simple with an easy to use GUI and allowing[br]the user to convert to the currently most 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 popular video formats. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 These are the colleagues that are working[br]on the group of GUTL in Holguín. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And they also organize activities to talk[br]about some free software community 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 or present some program to their users.[br]And they have also created a website 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 called Debian GNU/Linux in Holguín, [br]that is Debian Hlg, and in this website 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 they publish news related to Debian,[br]events that are organized in this part 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 of the far east of Cuba in Holguín, and [br]it's a very nice way to stay in contact 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 with the local users. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Some achievements of the GUTL is[br][???] is one of the most actives communities 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 in Cuba, because they are a lot of members,[br]and they have the support of the university 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 of Holguín, for some activities.[br]We have also an official member of the 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 document foundation, Carlos Parra Zaldivar[br]and he's working with libreoffice community 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 directly. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Also there are four free software active[br]developers, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 there are two programs in development, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and two active repositories in GitHub. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Beside this it would have three websites[br]with international visibility like Debian 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 in Holguín, and Python Scouts and [br]Libreoffice cubava 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Sometimes the Holguín free software[br]community has a space to talk about free 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 technologies at a TV program of Cuba called[br]"A Buen Tiempo", there is something like 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 [???] time. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 By the other hand we have a lot of activity[br]in Granma province, that is also in the East 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 of Cuba 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 This is the place in which more Free[br]Software projects have been developed[br] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 in island, also REPOGUTL was hosted here,[br]until some months ago, because now the 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 organization was supporting the group[br]it is not [???] anymore, to give the hosting 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 because of institutional restrictions. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Many programs in development,[br]also there are one GUTL website editor,[br] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and there is a free software active[br]developer. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 In Santiago de Cuba also we have a [br]GUTL website editor, and they have created 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 a blog called SWL-X, that is a a web blog[br]related to free software activities 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and there is a free software active developer 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So now i will talk about some events that [br]has been taking place during the last two 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 years, this is the CubaConf and these the [br]Free Technologies Cuban Conference 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 CubaConf, is an international conference about[br]Free Software and open technologies that have 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 taken place in Havana, Cuba since 2016.[br]CubaConf is a meeting from the international[br] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 community of enthusiasts of many parts of[br]the world besides the Cuban local communities, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 peer to peer focused and collective[br]development. It seeks the participation of people[br] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 with different profiles and diverse geographical[br]locations. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 [???] CubaConf that was on 2016, we have[br]here the last that was in November of last 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 year and we had the opportunity to have[br]some Debian developers, for instance in 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 2016 Tiago Bortolleto and Tassia Camões[br]went to CubaConf and they pushed to 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 create with Leonel Salazar a Cuban[br]free software developer to organize 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 for the first time the mini-debconf[br]in Cuba. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 From the organization of the conference[br]it is aimed at the diversity of topics and[br] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 projects, as of its participants, so the [br]participation of women, minority groups 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 in these activities is crucial to build new [br]inclusive spaces of knowledge and dialogue 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 about technology. The main idea is to know [br]people experience and organizations who 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 work with and in Free Software, with old [br]hardware technologies and little or slow 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 bandwidth, to talk about how Free Software[br]can help developing countries. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 During the last CubaConf we had a great[br]number of girls participating with talks 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and even attending the event and that was[br]very motivating, we also had a talk with Molly 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 de Blanc of the Free Software Foundation[br]and she did a very nice presentation 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And this is the global photo from last year 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Now I will talk about the mini debconf,[br]CubaConf 2016 these encounters between 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Tassia, Tiago and Leonel, has pushed to[br]organize for the first time the mini debconf 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 in Cuba. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 This college is Leonel Salazar Videaux[br]and he's one of the founders of UTL and 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 DebianHlg in Holguín, he's a free software[br]user since 2004 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 First time using Debian GNU/Linux was with[br]“Sarge”,[br] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 he has been spreading the Debian Project[br]in local communities in Cuba and organizing[br] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 events as MiniDebConf. He is a programmer[br]has a profession. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So during last mini debconf we had some topics[br]like how about to help the debian project 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 from Cuba, the Cuban community share 2[br]main projects where Misox and VideoMorph 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 developers showed how is the development[br]of the programs and how to use them 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Also I had the opportunity to present a talk[br]about reproducible builds for first time in 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Spanish and it was very useful to track[br]new debian enthusiasts users and also to 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 the currently developers like Mike and Oscar[br]from Videomorph and Misox, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 it was a new topic to start taking care with[br]the principles of the reproducible builds 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 in the construction of then new versions[br]for their development with Misox and 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Videomorph. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So much of this work has been carried [br]out by enthusiastic and committed people[br] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 with Debian and the Free Software [br]movement, that despite the different 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 difficulties to sustain some costs[br]economically, access the Internet, acquire 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 computer hardware and achieve official[br]recognition as developers of some 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Free Software community in the world [br]due to all the above, they continue to 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 contribute in a decisive way projects[br]that should be available to everyone 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 inside and outside of Cuba. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Because for instance the Misox project[br]Videomorph and many other programs 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 are hosted in the REGUTL by the limitations[br]of hardware, money available to the Cuban 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 users 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 In that way I consider that it would be very[br]interesting and important to think 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 about how the Debian could support and [br]recognize those who contribute directly to 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 the use and development of our [br]distribution, in places where there[br] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 is a willingness to do so and strengthen [br]our community by being inclusive of them? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Because we know the Debian Social Contract,[br]our guidelines, but how can we 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 considered to those that are in a country[br]in which you could connect to the 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 internet but it's very expensive and [br]if you want to interact with the mailing 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 list or you want to stay in contact with[br]another debian maintainer or debian 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 developers it's not so easy, because simple[br]you don't have the conditions 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So I want to leave the question to have a [br]dialog and to see what do you think, which[br] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 possibilities are in the debian project to[br]support for instance the Misox development 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 that is based on debian and even the packages[br]will be in the repositories in the free section 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Well that is all, and thank you very much for[br]your attention 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 [Applause] 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Any comments or questions?
