This graph, I both love and hate.
It shows the % of children in the world
that have got vaccinated against measles.
Measles is a deadly disease for children.
When I worked as a doctor
(I was a young doctor
in 1980 in East Africa)
there were so many children
dying of measles,
we couldn't save them.
Then vaccination came,
and in only 10 years here,
70% of the children in the world
were vaccinated.
But look:
From 1990 to 2005,
15 years of stagnation!
Now, in the last 10 years,
it's climbing, climbing.
What I love
is that 84%
of the children of the world
are vaccinated today.
But what I hate
is that there is still
this group remaining.
They live in extreme poverty
that can be ended in the next 30 years.
