For a number of years the negro passengers
on the city bus lines of Montgomery...
...have been humiliated, intimidated
and faced threats...
...on this bus line.
The other day, one of the fine citizens
of our community, Mrs Rosa Parks...
...was arrested because she refused to
give up her seat for a white passenger...
Mrs Rosa Parks was arrested and taken
down to jail, taken from the bus...
...just because she refused
to give up her seat.
At present, we are in the midst
of a protest...
...the negro citizens of Montgomery...
...representing some 44%
of the population.
90% at least, are the regular negro
bus passengers...
...who are staying off the buses...
...and we plan to continue
until something is done.
[a cappella singing]
[You gotta walk, walk
you gotta talk, talk]
[with your mind on freedom,
walk, walk, walk, walk]
[a cappella singing continues]
[walk, walk, walk, walk]
[You gotta talk, talk,
you gotta talk, talk]
[With your mind on freedom,
talk, talk, you gotta talk, talk]
[You gotta talk, talk,
you gotta talk, talk]
[Coz it ain't no harm
to speak your mind]
[Stand on freedom]
[a cappella singing continues]
[Now if you miss me from the cotton field
and you can't find me nowhere]
[Come on up to the front of the bus,
I'll be riding up there]
[a cappella singing]
[a cappella singing]
[You gotta walk, walk,
you gotta talk, talk]
[If you can't find me on the back of the bus
[Come on up to the front of the bus,
I'll be riding up there]
[If you miss me from the back
of the bus]
[You can't find me nowhere
[Come on up to the front of the bus
and I'll be riding up there]
[Now if you miss me from the cotton field
and you can't find me nowhere]
[Just come on over to the courthouse,
I'll be rooming over there].
