Translation & Subtitles: thoseguiltyeyes | scandal-heaven.com It's day 1 of the exhibition! People had already started lining up 30-40 minutes before we open. I'm happy that the opening is looking to be an exciting one. The weather's also really nice. It's looking to be a great opening day. I'll work hard and have fun! We put together such a lovely space. Day 1 of the exhibition is done! Yay! There was a constant stream of people coming by. A ton of people came out. Everyone had fun taking in the pieces in their own way, and I also had some time to talk to each person. It was such a meaningful day. Thank you so much! I'll do my best tomorrow as well! I'm starving. Finally. I worked hard. You did a lot of talking, RINA. I forgot that I was hungry. -Right? -This looks good. What is it? Ratatouille and... Potatoes? Let's eat! The moment people realized you were here, -they were all surprised outside. -Really? They were like, "Ahh! 🫣" That's cute. -This was really awesome. -Yeah, it really was. I'm sure you have a lot of things you want to talk about with everyone. All of their thoughts were interesting. Don't you run out of oxygen when you talk nonstop? Totally get that. You start feeling dizzy. People never stopped coming in for even a second. You were going up to talk to them yourself. I really never saw you stopping. There were some people I didn't talk to. Voluntarily. But yeah, I get it. I got the vibe that some wanted to talk. Everyone was adorable. Today everything felt so pure. Totally. This is delicious. A staff member from Victor [Entertainment] gave this to us. Ah, is that so? I'm grateful. -They're so nice. -They are. I'm so grateful. We'll work hard tomorrow too! We will. We will. Good morning. Day 2 of the exhibition. The weather's good today too. Fans have started to line up. I'll do my best to make it a great time today as well. (Hiraki-chanā™”) (She's concentratingā™”) Thank you so much! Good work! Thank you so much! These two days were amazing. Seriously, good work! -It was so much fun. -It was. -This was so worthwhile. -It was. -This was so much more than I expected. -Way more. So awesome. It was so great. I have one request: I'd like to take some photos with you, RINA. Let's do it! -Okay! -Thank you very much! Good work! -Shall we take it all down? -Let's do it. (After two hours of getting the gallery squeaky clean again, we returned home with a lingering feeling of accomplishment) (From this point on, I'll be showing footage of the days leading up to the exhibition) I'll be holding an exhibition on 5/27-28, so today I'll be working on stuff for that. I held an exhibition two years ago, and... I posted a video [last year] about how the artist Mana Hiraki and I made a zine. We'll be reconstructing that work by displaying photos and creating a space in a gallery. It'll be open for two days. That's the collaboration exhibition we're doing. We're preparing for that. Today is May 23rd. The exhibition is already this weekend. We finally have the framed photos on hand. We'll be painting the frames and taking them to the gallery like that. How will they turn out? I'm excited. For this exhibition, we'll also be including unreleased photos and expressing two different worlds as part of one space. The zine itself... I think I talked about it in my previous video. The song "Kanojo wa Wave" on our album MIRROR features lyrics, music, and main vocals by me, and the concept of the zine is about expressing that world via art, in a way that's different than music. This exhibition is one where you can physically experience that world. I created a collage that's the key visual for the exhibition, and Hiraki then painted over that. That's how we created it. In the past I would make collages using old magazines. I'd create works using materials that didn't feature myself, but the materials I used this time were old photos of myself. I used my two zines to make the collage. That's why... Good work. Hiraki-san is here. Overall, I think the main theme of it is to restore and reconstruct. Including band activities, it's rare for me to create something using my own face and body, so I hope you'll enjoy the world view and artworks in the gallery that are only possible with this exhibition. How will it turn out to be? There are so many of them. There are a lot of them. How many are there after all? -39. -39? That's a big amount. It's so impressive. I can't wait. The framed photos just arrived at the office. A lot were brought up. Wow! -Nice. -So sparkly. -It came out so pretty. -It's so pretty. -Wow. -Yeah. We'll be unpacking the photos. So many cardboard boxes. Oh, wow. So pretty. This photo is like the representative one. We don't really do much merch with our faces on it. -A lot of graphics are used instead. -Yeah. We don't really have each photo become merch. It's really fresh. -The merch is being well received. -The merch was really popular. There were a lot of reactions. I'm glad. But the quality is way too good for merch. (The merch photos were also shot by Hiraki-sanā™”) ā € The message really gets across. -It's so cute. -It is. I'm really nervous to paint these. -Can we do it? -It is kind of scary. -It is nerve-racking. -It is. I'm scared. Have you done this before? -I have worked a lot with spray paint. -That's a relief. These might be too cool. Too cool? Wow. This is so interesting. Wow. I'm happy. -So nice. -To be able to do this... -Right? This is so much fun. This part is kind of a pain, though. It's going to look awesome when they're all together. This is so nice! It's nice when a world view is strong. I'm pretty biased, though. I edited each one, and... Oh, wow... (Office staffer Kinu-chan has appearedā™”) -So cute. -Right? They all turned out pretty cool. It's so much more than I imagined. I'm so touched even now. I'm so happy. It's making me even more excited. We'll work hard! Shall we start painting? It's finally time. I'm so nervous! First, we'll tape them. They're cute enough framed, but since we're at it, we'll give them a special feel by spray painting them. We'll be coloring them so that the color of the flowers will pop and extend past the frame. Ah, we're having a picnic. So cute. It's been a while since I've used a plastic sheet. Shall we try it? We'll be adding color to this one first. Cut this piece of plastic smaller than this and use it as a covering. ā € (We're covering the photos with plastic) (Securing it with masking tape) And maybe just enough to cover the sides of the edges. Did you do this in college as well? ā € (Hiraki-san graduated from an art collegeā˜‘) I never did this for paintings or photos while in school. -Really? -Yeah. I didn't really... There were surprisingly few chances. -So this must feel fresh. -It does. -I primarily did paintings. -That's right. I didn't work with photos. -When a painting was done, was it complete at that point? -Yeah, basically. The canvas would be hung up as is. That's also nice. There was a time when I didn't like canvases anymore. -Did you overdo it? -Yeah. Like, "What's with this square frame??" -I see. -Yeah. I'd draw on cloth and put it just like that on the wall and stretch it out. Like I'd be pasting it on. -I'm sure those skills came in handy for the cloth [you painted for the zine] -Ah, that's right. Then should I make [some coverings] too? Ah, shall we do that? Let's split up the work. Someone will cut the plastic, and someone will tape it. Let's go with that. Do you get impatient when a lot of work is piled up in front of you? -Ah, not at all. -You're good? -I am. I seriously love this kind of work. -I can do this forever. -Glad to hear. When we had to stay at home during the pandemic, this is what I did all the time at home. I see. -You did your zines like that. -Yeah. -Some activities still require some distancing. -That's true. It's hard to have in-depth discussions now. I think there'll be a line [at the exhibition] because everyone wants to talk to you, RINA. But... At my previous exhibition... Some did talk to me, but they primarily came to really look at the works. -Wow. -Yeah. I was grateful for that, and thought, "That's our fans for you." I was there, but they prioritized seeing the works. Most would only talk to me as they were leaving. -They're proper fans. -Seriously. -This will be my first exhibition. -That's right. Thank you for doing your first exhibition with me! It's me who should be saying that! I've been thinking that a lot. It's seriously me who should thank you. To get this chance... Let's do this. No hesitation. You can't be like that. Are you overlapping the colors? -I see, so you apply thin layers. -Yes. Just spray a little on at a time. Maybe a little more. It looks cute. Slow but steady. A little of the white is still showing. Can I do it? Is it recording? What color is this? Peach. It is peach. -I just need to picture it. -That's good. Carefully. You're doing it. Ah, wow! This is fun. Is it better to layer the colors? You can do that, and you could also do one color. -There is something cute about a single color. -There is. You could do it lightly. Any color. -I think I'll go with this. -Let's. (Coloring them one at a time) (Load-in day, the day before the exhibition starts) Hello! We're getting things ready the day before the exhibition starts. We'll be creating a space full of works in this completely empty gallery. My throat's not open yet since it's still morning. My voice isn't in the best shape right now, but I'll be creating a wonderful space with everyone. It's finally go-time tomorrow! I can't wait! I'll do my best! I'll be sticking these square silver things on the back of these photos. Like this. I'll be making a lot of them. I put all of them on. My fingers are all silver now. (Fine-tuning the positions of the photos) (Redecorating again for fine-tuning) (Closing the spacing a bit) (The positions of the photos go up and down like a wave) I'm so happy! Done! That's done! Nice. I'm so happy. (Hand-dyed cloth used in the photos as well) (We used them to decorate the space as well) (The shells were also colored by hand) I'll be cutting stuff out for the merch price card. (Carefully collected vases that matched the theme) (Flowers that the two of us picked out) We're done! Let's work hard tomorrow and the day after!
