Can you imagine that only in the US,
the Patent Office has registered
10 millions patents only last year ?
So companies must be today ultra competitive
in their core of business
by exploring and exploiting
at the same time.
Exploitation is for a company using the
existing knowledge to produce
what they are used to do.
And exploring is finding new experimentations,
in order to create and innovate.
In this context we can also speak about
ambidexterity.
It is the ability to simutaneously
pursue both incremental and
discontinue innovations.
Many actual studies found a link
between ambidexterity and firm
financial performance.
So the organizations have to find creative
solutions always with efficiency
and with control, in order to create
and increase the competitiveness.
If we look at Goole for example,
all the employees are following the rules of
80/20 coming from the Pareto principle.
80% of their time is dedicated to
their general missions
when the remaining 20% permits
to feed the employees with
exciting projects.
In the last few years,
these 20% has been the main success of Google
with for example Google Chrome and
Google Maps.
That was the wonderful explorations
that Google did.
So as I said, the company has to be creative
and always work with control,
in order not to take any risk when
they are lauching a new project.
My recommandations would be to
include all the employees in the process,
for them to be a group of creativity,
and where there is no hierarchy at all.
The second would be to develop
the employee initiative,
as process and their creativity would happen
and be embodied thanks to
people in the company.
The last one would be for the core of the
company to communicate
about the company strategy in order
to be transparent
and to help all the employees
create new things.
