Let me tell you something you already know.
The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows.
It's a very mean and nasty place
and I don't care how tough you are
it will beat you to your knees and keep
you there permanently if you let it.
Life is tough, that's a given.
When you stand up, you're gonna be shoved back down.
When you're down, you're gonna be stepped on.
My advice to you doesn't come with a lot of bells and whistles.
It's no secret, you'll fall down, you stumble,
you get pushed, you land square on your face.
Life is scary. Get used to it.
There are no magical fixes,
it's all up to you.
You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life.
But it ain't about how hard you're hit.
It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward
How much you can take and keep moving forward
That's how winning is done!
A lot of people in this world, search endlessly
for some complex, magical formula to understand
why some people are successful
and why others are not.
Greatness, is not this wonderful, esoteric, illusive,
god-like feature that only the special among us will ever taste.
It's something that truly exists, in, all of us!
The heaviness of being successful,
was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again.
I'm convinced the only thing that kept me going,
was that I loved what I did.
You've got to find what you love.
There's a certain delusional quality,
that all successful people have to have.
When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe,
then you'll be successful.
The only thing you care about when you trying to breathe is to get some fresh air. That's it!
And when you get to the point where all you wanna do is be is successful
as bad as you wanna breathe then you will be successful.
but what is most important is don't be afraid to fail
you can't always win but don't be afraid of making decisions
You might never fail on the scale I did,
but some failure in life is inevitable.
It is impossible to live without failing at something,
unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all
in which case you have failed by default.
When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like:
'If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right.'
It made an impression on me,
and since then, for the past 33 years,
I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself:
"If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?"
Because Almost everything
all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure
these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.
Remembering that you are Going To Die
is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking
you have something to lose.
distinctly different about me is
I'm not afraid to die on a treadmill.
You might have more talent than me,
you might be smarter than me,
But if we get on the treadmill
there's two things:
You're getting off first,
or I'm Going To Die!
It's really that simple.
i'm gonna give him two minutes and i'll finish him.
then i promise he won't make it 2 to 3 minutes
in the kickboxing ring with me this time.
Its like you have to save your own life
nobody's going to be able to save it for you.
So we have to do what we have to do,
no matter what it is!
this is what i believe
and i willing to die for it
Period!
No matter how bad it is...or how bad it gets
I'm going to make it!
say that to yourself everyday.
our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
i'm motivated by fear.
What we are trying to do, during all these discussions and talks here,
is to see if we cannot radically bring about a transformation of the mind.
not accept things as they are.
But to understand it, go into it, examine it,
give your heart and your mind, with everything that you have, to find out
a way of living differently.
That depends on you, and not on someone else,
because in this there is no teacher, no pupil
there is no leader; there is no guru; there is no Master, no Saviour.
You yourself are the teacher and the pupil; you are the Master; you are the guru; you are the leader,
you are everything!
And to understand is to transform what is.
You know, when you get old, in life
things get taken from you.
I mean, that's... that's... that's a part of life.
But, you only learn that when you start losin' stuff.
You find out life's this game of inches.
On this team we fight for that inch.
On this team we tear ourselves and everyone else around us
to pieces for that inch.
We claw with our fingernails for that inch.
Because we know when add up all those inches,
that's gonna make the fucking difference between winning and losing!
Between living and dying!
I'll tell you this, in any fight
it's the guy whose willing to die whose gonna win that inch.
Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth.
But ya gotta be willing to take the hits,
and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be
because of him, or her, or anybody!
Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that!
And I know, if I'm gonna have any life anymore
it's because I'm still willing to fight and die for that inch
because that's what living is!
the six inches in front of your face.
We get one opportunity in life. One chance in life
to do whatever you’re gonna do.
To lay your foundation. To make whatever mark you’re gonna make.
whatever legacy you’re gonna leave. Leave your legacy.
And it’s found through effort.
Wins and losses come a dime a dozen.
But effort? Nobody can judge effort.
Because Effort is between you and you. Effort aint got nothing to do with nobody else.
So that team that think they ready to seen you?
They think what they seen on film.
They ain’t saw what film shows.
Because every day is a new day.
Every moment is a new moment.
So now you got to go out and show them that you a different creature
Now!
now than I was five minutes ago.
Cause I’m pissed off for greatness.
