[COSTCO SUBS PRESENTS]
[Interview with a new member]
I’m Aya Matarai, 20 years old, currently a third-year student
at Atomi University.
I’m studying at the Faculty of Literature,
Department of Contemporary Culture and Representation.
We can study about fashion and image expression.
We make a magazine from scratch in a class.
I'm working on it in my study group.
There are a lot of practical classes.
[WHAT'S YOUR LIFE LIKE?]
Usually after classes, I work part-time.
I work part-time at my parents’ Korean barbecue restaurant
and at a nearby Japanese bar.
During the weekends as well,
I work at both all day.
Because I like to work so much
and rarely hang out with my friends.
They tell me, “You’re a hard worker”.
[WHAT MADE YOU COME TO TERRACE HOUSE?]
The main reason I wanted to move
into Terrace House was to find love.
I've dated with 3 boyfriends.
My first relationship was when I was 18 years old.
All 3 boyfriends I’ve had were older than me.
They were 2 years, 4 years, and 14 years older.
I tend to be unable to see anything else around me
when I’m into someone,
and they were always my first priority at the time.
My mom warned me not to do that every time.
I want to consider my own well-being while also having
a relationship that everyone can acknowledge.
While romance was one reason for coming,
another was job hunting...
there are a lot of different people in Terrace House, right?
I want to absorb their experience and viewpoints,
and from there I hope that will help me find
the job that suits me best.
[HAVE YOU LIVED WITH STRANGERS?]
I have never lived apart from my family before,
and I’ve only done house chores
while helping my mom,
so living with strangers fills me with anxiety.
Since I went to girls schools
from junior high through to university,
I’m also worried that I won’t be able to
get along with guys very well.
[ARE YOU GOOD AT COOKING?]
Yes, I am.
When I want to eat something,
I often make it by myself.
My specialty?
My ex said that the tastiest thing
I made was Chicken Nanban.
[WILL YOU COOK FOR A GUY?]
I want to ask the guy I like what he likes to eat,
and cook it up like it's no big deal.
[ARE YOUR ASSERTIVE TO A GUY?]
I’m quite assertive and direct
when it comes to guys I like.
I’ll ask someone out, like, ”When are you free?
Can you take me for lunch?"
I don’t have a driver’s license.
Like, "Can you take me for a drive?“
I want to get closer to him like that at first.
When I fall in love with a guy,
of course I want him to be my boyfriend.
I would say things like, “I want you to confess to me.”
[WHAT'S YOUR IDEAL CONFESSION?]
I'd want him to tell me his feelings in front of the sea
or somewhere with a great atmosphere.
[WHAT'S YOUR TYPE?]
I like manly guys who are tanned, muscular,
and have mustaches.
Also I like guys who have a manly personality.
Someone who everyone acknowledge he is manly,
not wishy washy.
Also I like manly guys who carry themselves firmly
and who can express themselves clearly.
[WHO DO YOU LIKE OUT OF THE CURRENT MEMBERS?]
Taka is the best.
He looks good but when he shaved his mustache,
even though he didn’t look very manly,
he was kinda innocent which I thought was cute.
I’m attracted by the stark contrast
between his manly and cute side.
