The process to join or start a Zoom meeting in Canvas, is basically the same for both you and students. From the course navigation, make sure that you click on "Zoom." And in the "Upcoming Meetings" pane look for the session that you want to start. For the instructor, the button will say "Start," and for the students, the button will say "Join." Click on that button, and you'll be brought to a page that looks something like this. If you have Zoom already installed on your computer, you will likely be given a prompt to "open" the Zoom application. If you don't see that prompt, but you do have Zoom installed, you can click on the "Launch Meeting" link down below. If you don't have the Zoom client installed at all. You can click on the "Download and run Zoom" link. If for whatever reason you cannot run the Zoom application, you can also "join Zoom from your web browser." However, bare in mind that the web-based version of Zoom has some limitations and it is recommended that you run the installed version of Zoom, if at all possible. I'll demonstrate the process of downloading and running Zoom for the first time. I'll click on "download and run Zoom." [click] You'll see that it downloads a file to your computer. Open that file. This will install the Zoom application on your computer. When the installation completes, it will automatically connect you into the Zoom meeting that you are attempting to "Join" or "Start." One of the first things that you'll see when you join a Zoom meeting, is connecting you computer audio. You can simply click the blue "Computer Audio" button to connecting your microphone and speakers. If you want to test these before connecting in, you can click on the "test speaker and microphone" link to make sure that they are operating correctly. There's also the option to connect in via a phone, if for some reason you don't have a computer microphone or your speakers on your computer are unavailable. There's also a check-box at the bottom to make this your default choice for future meetings. Generally speaking, as long as you have a microphone on your computer and are using either your computer speakers or a headset, you can click on "join with computer audio."
