Hello. I'm Jose Ramón Rey.
I was born in La Coruña.
I've lived in the Basque Country
since I was 3, in Artziniega, in Álava.
I've been involved in school sports
and sports in general for 33 years.
I've been involved in martial arts,
futsal, handball,
athletics, Basque rural sports...
I want to introduce 'artzikirol',
the new Basque sport created
here, in Artziniega.
A new fun proposal.
Artzikirol is a sport in which
boys and girls have the same chances.
In order to do that, we've eliminated
the need to be strong.
It values speed, teamwork
and coordination.
A new multiactive Basque sport:
artzikirol.
Artzikirol is played indoors, in a futsal
or a handball court.
This should measure from 36x18
to 40x20 square metres.
It can be played with a soft ball
or a kids' volleyball ball.
It takes place between 2 teams
of 6 players, with a goalkeeper per team.
Each team has a maximum
of 15 players available to play.
There can be substitutions at any time.
There's no need for the referee
to intervene or to interrupt the game.
Teams can be mixed,
only girls or only boys.
Each match is played in 4 periods
of 15 minutes.
After each period there is
a 2 minute break,
except between the 3rd and 4th periods
when the break will last 5 minutes.
The players may use their hands
or their feet to touch the ball,
but the players can't bounce the ball
if it's in their possession.
While in possession of the ball,
any player in the other team
can touch you: in the game's jargon
you'll be 'touched'.
In this case the referee
will whistle for a foul.
The ball will pass to the team or player
that has touched the opponent.
Because of this, the player
with the ball will try to kick it
before they are touched by an opponent.
You can score a goal by kicking or
throwing the ball
or even tapping it in with your hands.
A player who has been fouled
will kick or throw the ball from the spot
where the foul was committed.
The ball can't be kept between your feet.
When the ball is up in the air,
the players can control it
with their feet or their hands,
but once the ball has touched the ground,
the players can't use their hands again.
If the goalkeeper is in their area,
they can get the ball
with their hands if they drop it.
In order to take a free kick,
throw in or a corner,
the player will have 6 seconds.
The opponent will be able to
mark the player who's kicking or throwing
as long as they don't touch the line.
The goalkeeper doesn't have to stay
in a certain area.
They can move and play around the court
whenever they want.
However, if the goalkeeper
is touched anywhere in the court
while in possession of the ball,
the referee will whistle for a penalty.
The point system in artzikirol
is very simple.
Any goal scored as a result
of a move, foul or penalty,
either with your hand or your feet,
will be 1 point.
The following will be fouls:
1- The use of force, grabbing, hitting,
pushing or tripping the opponent
in order to get the ball or keep it.
2. The player in posession
of the ball can't pass it
from one hand to the other.
3. Being touched by the opponent
while in the possession of the ball.
