WEBVTT 00:00:12.640 --> 00:00:14.240 [Deep sigh of regret] 00:00:14.240 --> 00:00:19.760 I gotta be honest guys. I’m really disappointed in this latest content pack. I just feel like 00:00:19.770 --> 00:00:24.040 Team Cherry really dropped the ball on this one. Nothing really seems to connect to the 00:00:24.040 --> 00:00:28.720 main game, and a bunch of stuff that they promised in their updates is just completely 00:00:28.720 --> 00:00:35.820 missing. Something about Gods and Glory™ is just wrong. I really don’t know why Team 00:00:35.820 --> 00:00:41.379 Cherry went in this direction with their newest content pack. This update sucks. It’s almost 00:00:41.380 --> 00:00:45.720 like I accidently downloaded and played an entirely different game, thinking it was a 00:00:45.720 --> 00:00:50.319 Hollow Knight expansion because they happen to share the same incredibly generic, but 00:00:50.320 --> 00:00:52.180 still somehow trademarkable, name. 00:00:53.050 --> 00:00:57.660 And so the final free update for Hollow Knight is here, and, spoiler alert, Godmaster is 00:00:57.660 --> 00:01:03.159 fucking amazing. The new boss rush mode is fantastic and carefully crafted. The new bosses 00:01:03.159 --> 00:01:08.580 are mostly fun, with one glaring exception. My boy Nosk finally got its wings and I am 00:01:08.580 --> 00:01:14.010 so fucking happy. Yeah, he’s still a little bitch, but he looks so badass so I don’t 00:01:14.010 --> 00:01:18.100 care. But I’m sure you already knew that Godmaster was amazing, so I’ll just shut 00:01:18.100 --> 00:01:20.540 the fuck up and start talking about the lore. 00:01:20.540 --> 00:01:24.670 Now there’s a Zoteload of lore to go over, so let’s just start with probably the biggest 00:01:24.670 --> 00:01:29.700 new piece we got. Team Cherry has finally listened to their fans and given us more information 00:01:29.700 --> 00:01:34.740 on Flukemarm. In case you somehow forgot, the Flukemarm is a giant boss found in the 00:01:34.740 --> 00:01:39.020 Royal Waterways. She is the creature responsible for all of the parasite creatures wandering 00:01:39.020 --> 00:01:44.180 around underneath the City of Tears. So what’s the new lore surrounding this thing? Well, 00:01:44.180 --> 00:01:48.560 in Godhome, there are statues that represent each of the bosses in the game. With these 00:01:48.560 --> 00:01:54.190 statues come short descriptions of each of the bosses. And for Flukemarm we get this: 00:01:54.190 --> 00:01:55.790 “Alluring God of motherhood.” 00:01:55.790 --> 00:02:01.240 That’s right, according to the Hollow Knight lore, this thing is “alluring” or in other 00:02:01.240 --> 00:02:06.159 words, attractive, which mean that Flukemarm is now canonically a MILF. 00:02:06.159 --> 00:02:11.340 Not only that, but we also get a new character related to Flukemarm, the Fluke Hermit. We 00:02:11.340 --> 00:02:15.430 meet Fluke Hermit high up in the Junk Pit, below the Nailsmith’s hut. She is surrounded 00:02:15.430 --> 00:02:20.760 by a pile of… whatever, and she is poking a little fluke with a stick. Dream Nailing 00:02:20.760 --> 00:02:24.870 the Fluke Hermit show that she is scared of her mother, who we know is Flukemarm. Maybe 00:02:24.870 --> 00:02:28.830 this is why she chooses to live high up above where the other Flukes live. The Fluke Hermit 00:02:28.830 --> 00:02:32.760 mentions that she gathers up the Flukemarm’s treasure. You can see that this shit in her 00:02:32.760 --> 00:02:37.670 hideout is also in the room where the Flukemarm fight occurs. The Fluke Hermit also uses the 00:02:37.670 --> 00:02:42.010 words “Grow” and “Little Sisters”, which makes me think she is trying to help 00:02:42.010 --> 00:02:46.571 her sisters grow up from the materials she took from the Flukemarm room. Finally, if 00:02:46.571 --> 00:02:51.480 you wear the Flukenest charm and talk to the Fluke Hermit, she freaks out, because... well... 00:02:51.480 --> 00:02:57.000 you know. We killed her mom. And then she starts wondering if she is the new Flukemarm. 00:02:57.000 --> 00:03:01.810 So what exactly is the point of this new character? Well, my guess is that the Fluke Hermit will 00:03:01.810 --> 00:03:06.241 become more important in the upcoming Hornet DLC, since the new ending implies that it 00:03:06.241 --> 00:03:11.240 will be a sequel. Maybe Team Cherry just wants an excuse to give us another riveting Flukemarm 00:03:11.240 --> 00:03:15.710 fight boss. Either that, or Team Cherry just put her in to try and flesh out the pathway 00:03:15.710 --> 00:03:18.760 from the Junkpit to the City of Tears. 00:03:18.760 --> 00:03:23.031 Another new character introduced in this update was the Pale Lurker. Unfortunately, there 00:03:23.031 --> 00:03:27.330 isn’t much to go on with this girl. How do I know she’s a girl? Well that’s what 00:03:27.330 --> 00:03:32.190 the French translation says, so I’m just going to assume that is what it is. She can 00:03:32.190 --> 00:03:36.910 be found behind the Colosseum of Fools and has a simple key in her possession. From her 00:03:36.910 --> 00:03:41.250 Dream Nail dialogue, we can see that this lady was bonkers. But from the Hunter’s 00:03:41.250 --> 00:03:45.440 Journal entry, we know that her madness has nothing to do with the Radiance’s infection. 00:03:45.440 --> 00:03:49.580 The journal entry also mentions that the Pale Lurker was once a champion in the Colosseum 00:03:49.580 --> 00:03:54.670 of Fools. With her name including the word “pale”, the King’s Idol found in a nearby 00:03:54.670 --> 00:03:59.090 cave, and her Dream Nail dialogue using the word “King”, I think it is safe to say 00:03:59.090 --> 00:04:03.340 that this character is somehow connected to the Pale King. But other than that, I don’t 00:04:03.340 --> 00:04:07.460 think she really helps us better understand anything connected to the Colosseum of Fools. 00:04:07.460 --> 00:04:14.319 Alright, it’s time to talk about the Godseekers. And oh boy, is this lore dense. The Godseekers’ 00:04:14.319 --> 00:04:18.660 origins begin in the Land of Storms. The player can actually travel to the Land of Storms 00:04:18.660 --> 00:04:23.550 in game by completing each of the five pantheons with all bindings. Thankfully, you don’t 00:04:23.550 --> 00:04:28.261 have to have all the bindings on at once, but it’s still hard as fuck to do. The Land 00:04:28.261 --> 00:04:33.340 of Storms is a desolate wasteland with high winds, rain and lightning. The area is just 00:04:33.340 --> 00:04:37.970 a long straight pathway that leads to a room containing Godseeker masks piled up on the 00:04:37.970 --> 00:04:43.380 ground. In the background you can see the silhouettes of two large bugs. We can get 00:04:43.380 --> 00:04:46.730 a better view of these bugs by ripping the images from the game. 00:04:46.730 --> 00:04:51.060 The Land of Storms also contains an item that unlocks a Journal entry for the Weathered 00:04:51.060 --> 00:04:56.490 Mask. The description of the mask says that it originates from a godless land, and that 00:04:56.490 --> 00:05:00.871 the design of the mask allows the wearer to focus their thoughts through the crest. There 00:05:00.871 --> 00:05:05.500 is also a quote from a poem titled “Lament of the Godseekers”, which explains that 00:05:05.500 --> 00:05:10.280 the previous Gods that the Godseekers worshipped abandoned them. It’s hard to say what the 00:05:10.280 --> 00:05:14.280 Godseekers did to cause their gods to forsake them, but it must have been something horrible. 00:05:14.280 --> 00:05:19.870 Or it’s possible that their gods just died. Maybe these silhouettes are of the Old Gods’ 00:05:19.870 --> 00:05:24.160 corpses. Regardless of why the Old Gods are gone, it’s clear that their departure had 00:05:24.160 --> 00:05:28.710 a negative effect on the Godseekers. And it has to do with how the Godseekers’ mind 00:05:28.710 --> 00:05:30.010 works. 00:05:30.010 --> 00:05:35.490 The Godseekers have a shared mind. The Godseekers we talk to in the update almost always say 00:05:35.490 --> 00:05:41.480 “Our mind” as if they share one singular mind. The Godseekers in Godhome also mention 00:05:41.480 --> 00:05:46.540 that their mind is a sea. With this shared mind, the Godseekers’ attempt to connect 00:05:46.540 --> 00:05:50.850 themselves with the Gods. The description on the Weathered Mask mentions that the wearer’s 00:05:50.850 --> 00:05:55.420 thoughts are focused through the crest of the mask. It is through this focus that the 00:05:55.420 --> 00:06:01.169 Godseekers are able to communicate with the Gods and “ascend” their own mind. The 00:06:01.169 --> 00:06:04.000 Godseeker in the Royal Waterways puts it best when she says the following: 00:06:04.000 --> 00:06:08.860 “By attuning Ourselves We clutch at their greatness, their immortality. Their unknowable 00:06:08.860 --> 00:06:10.699 splendour.” 00:06:10.699 --> 00:06:13.180 During the Pantheon of Hallownest the Godseeker also says: 00:06:13.180 --> 00:06:16.740 “We live only to serve the gods, to seek them out.” 00:06:16.740 --> 00:06:21.000 So what happens if there are no Gods around for the Godseekers to attune with? In their 00:06:21.000 --> 00:06:25.350 Lament, the Godseekers mention a woeful silence after the Gods of Thunder and The Gods of 00:06:25.350 --> 00:06:30.139 Rain departed them. Also, there’s this line from the Godseekers where they ask what gods 00:06:30.139 --> 00:06:34.850 will save them from their silent mind. So yeah, the Godseekers really want to be around 00:06:34.850 --> 00:06:38.630 gods otherwise their mind suffers in silence. 00:06:38.630 --> 00:06:43.430 Which brings us to the next part of the story, the journey to Hallownest. Turns out there 00:06:43.430 --> 00:06:48.360 is yet another hidden area in the new DLC. This one happens completely by random when 00:06:48.360 --> 00:06:53.300 you Dream Nail the Godseeker in the Royal Waterways. Instead of being taken to Godhome, 00:06:53.300 --> 00:06:57.980 you are taken to a strange area that looks similar to the Howling Cliffs. Here we see 00:06:57.980 --> 00:07:02.770 the Godseeker hiding in a cave next to a strange contraption. The Godseeker talks about how 00:07:02.770 --> 00:07:07.330 they will find their way to their new gods. After you look at the device, you get kicked 00:07:07.330 --> 00:07:10.080 out of the area and booted back into Godhome. 00:07:10.080 --> 00:07:14.389 This scene appears to be a memory from the Godseeker, showing her journeying out of the 00:07:14.389 --> 00:07:19.410 Land of Storms in order to find a new God. The device is likely an older version of the 00:07:19.410 --> 00:07:23.680 God Tuner, an item the Knight receives after opening the cocoon that the Godseeker was 00:07:23.680 --> 00:07:28.460 sealed in. The God Tuner seems to have a couple of different abilities, one of which being 00:07:28.460 --> 00:07:33.261 the ability to locate powerful beings. It is with this device that the Godseekers were 00:07:33.261 --> 00:07:38.800 able to find Hallownest. In the Pantheon of Hallownest, just before the Pure Vessel fight, 00:07:38.800 --> 00:07:43.090 the Godseeker mentions that the lingering power of the Pale King’s presence in Hallownest 00:07:43.090 --> 00:07:47.210 was what lead the Godseekers to the kingdom. The Pale King’s afterglow must have been 00:07:47.210 --> 00:07:51.419 picked up by the Godtuner, leading them straight into Hallownest. 00:07:51.419 --> 00:07:55.960 This is where things get a little weird. The next time we see the Godseeker, she is inside 00:07:55.960 --> 00:08:00.840 of a cocoon with a lock placed around her. The Godseeker probably didn’t place these 00:08:00.840 --> 00:08:05.860 chains upon herself, unless she used some sort of reverse David Blaine maneuver, so 00:08:05.860 --> 00:08:10.190 it was probably someone else who did this. In one of her dialogues she mentions that 00:08:10.190 --> 00:08:14.650 her sleep was a “forced hibernation”. I think it’s worth pointing out that this 00:08:14.650 --> 00:08:18.220 cocoon is also called a coffin in the game’s text files. 00:08:18.220 --> 00:08:23.419 I speculated in my last video that it was the Pale King who locked the Godseeker up. 00:08:23.419 --> 00:08:26.730 This doesn’t make sense however, seeing as it was the Pale King’s afterglow that 00:08:26.730 --> 00:08:31.750 lead the Godseeker to Hallownest in the first place. So who else could have done this? Well, 00:08:31.750 --> 00:08:36.390 there’s the Weavers, but it seems like they would use spells or spool rather than chains 00:08:36.390 --> 00:08:41.270 and a key. So maybe it was one of the Five Great Knight? Possibly the Dung Defender, 00:08:41.270 --> 00:08:47.070 the Grey Mourner, or Hegemol, if he’s still alive, that is. Or maybe it was Hornet. But 00:08:47.070 --> 00:08:50.740 it seems weird that she wouldn’t warn the Knight about the Godseekers if she knew they 00:08:50.740 --> 00:08:54.620 were in Hallownest. So yeah, I am clueless on this one. 00:08:54.620 --> 00:08:59.470 Once the Knight opens the cocoon, the Godseeker falls out and drops the Godtuner. When you 00:08:59.470 --> 00:09:03.580 first pick up the Godtuner, a description of the item pops up. It says: 00:09:03.580 --> 00:09:08.640 “Seek the gods of Hallownest. Tune their power. Through their strength, ascend.” 00:09:08.640 --> 00:09:12.310 The Godseeker will tell the Knight that they are listening for the Gods but that some of 00:09:12.310 --> 00:09:17.290 them are still distant and must be awoken. So it’s up to us to seek the Gods and with 00:09:17.290 --> 00:09:22.149 the Godtuner, attune them to the Godseekers’ mind. I don’t know why the Knight keeps 00:09:22.149 --> 00:09:26.710 agreeing to perform errands for all of these random bugs it finds. It does know it’s 00:09:26.710 --> 00:09:29.080 allowed to say “no”, right? 00:09:29.080 --> 00:09:33.279 And so, as you encounter all of the different bosses in Hallownest, they become attuned 00:09:33.279 --> 00:09:38.130 to the Godseekers’ mind, where they appear in both the Pantheons and the Hall of Gods. 00:09:38.130 --> 00:09:41.870 At this point, I think I should point out that some of the bosses that are classified 00:09:41.870 --> 00:09:46.540 as “Gods” are a little strange. I’m not sure why anyone would ever consider the 00:09:46.540 --> 00:09:51.391 Massive Moss Charger to be a god, but hey, maybe the Godseekers are onto something. Maybe 00:09:51.391 --> 00:09:53.330 you could make a religion out of this. 00:09:53.330 --> 00:09:58.470 Anyways, let’s talk about what happens inside of the Godhome. The Godseeker starts off by 00:09:58.470 --> 00:10:03.550 calling the Knight a cringer. Rude. She then tells the Knight to get lost, because it is 00:10:03.550 --> 00:10:08.170 too puny to be in the home of Gods. From this point the player now has access to the Hall 00:10:08.170 --> 00:10:13.670 of Gods, a place where they can refight bosses on a variety of difficulties. But the main 00:10:13.670 --> 00:10:18.101 thing we want to look at are the Pantheons. This is where all of the new bosses for the 00:10:18.101 --> 00:10:25.420 update can be found, including the Nailmasters, Sly, The Pure Vessel and the Absolute Radiance. 00:10:25.420 --> 00:10:29.820 These bosses weren’t integrated into the base game, so it appears that the Godseekers 00:10:29.820 --> 00:10:34.800 can attune with at least some beings without needing the Knight to go fuck them up beforehand. 00:10:34.800 --> 00:10:40.050 Let’s look at the Nailmasters first. Unfortunately, we didn’t gain much new lore for them. The 00:10:40.050 --> 00:10:44.940 first fight is between Oro and Mato. In his Dream Nail dialogue, Oro mentions how his 00:10:44.940 --> 00:10:50.320 path is his alone, which is pretty much what he said in the base game. Mato’s most interesting 00:10:50.320 --> 00:10:55.529 line is “Don’t leave me behind!”. Which really doesn’t tell us much. Probably the 00:10:55.529 --> 00:10:58.280 best part about this fight is this moment. 00:11:04.720 --> 00:11:07.900 “GASOOOOOOOOO!!!!!” 00:11:07.900 --> 00:11:12.280 Lorewise, I want to say that in this moment, Oro and Mato are setting aside their differences 00:11:12.290 --> 00:11:16.990 and working together to try and beat the shit out of one of their pupils. Inspiring, isn’t 00:11:16.990 --> 00:11:22.470 it? Sheo gets all philosophical on us in his dream nail dialogue. Saying stuff like “What 00:11:22.470 --> 00:11:28.100 is a God, if not an artist?” and “Are we all seeking something different?” Well, 00:11:28.100 --> 00:11:33.000 I’m seeking lore, and this shit is a waste of time to me, Sheo. What the hell and I supposed 00:11:33.000 --> 00:11:37.839 to do with philosophy? Actually make something of myself achieve happiness and self-actualization? 00:11:37.839 --> 00:11:39.250 Yeah right. 00:11:39.250 --> 00:11:44.589 Sly’s new dialogue doesn’t add any new lore either. He’s still a badass boss though. 00:11:44.589 --> 00:11:48.710 I especially like the part where he starts jumping all over the fucking walls. But why 00:11:48.710 --> 00:11:51.610 exactly didn’t he teach this technique to the Nailmasters? Some teacher. Also, what’s 00:11:51.610 --> 00:11:53.130 the deal with Sly’s voice? 00:11:53.130 --> 00:11:57.700 [High pitched grunting and shouting that would make any human baby cry] 00:11:57.700 --> 00:12:02.510 Does Team Cherry just let any random person off the street record lines for these characters? 00:12:02.510 --> 00:12:06.520 Of course these bosses each have their own new entries in the Hunter’s Journal. They 00:12:06.520 --> 00:12:09.620 still don’t give us any new lore for the characters, but there is some interesting 00:12:09.620 --> 00:12:14.921 stuff related to the Godseekers. Each entry includes a prayer from the Godseekers. In 00:12:14.921 --> 00:12:18.350 each of these entries the Godseekers make it clear that they are looking for one god 00:12:18.350 --> 00:12:23.880 in particular, the one they call the God of Gods. This God of Gods that the Godseeker 00:12:23.880 --> 00:12:26.280 is referring to is the Radiance. 00:12:26.280 --> 00:12:30.561 During each of the Pantheons, the Godseeker will show up and talk with the Knight. For 00:12:30.561 --> 00:12:34.550 the first three Pantheons, she just talks about how we are going to get crushed by the 00:12:34.550 --> 00:12:38.900 gods. But the fourth Pantheon is where things start to get interesting. This dialogue happens 00:12:38.900 --> 00:12:43.720 right before the battle with the Pure Vessel, which is a younger version of the Hollow Knight. 00:12:43.720 --> 00:12:47.079 The Godseeker explains that while the Hollow Knight’s body is currently in a state of 00:12:47.079 --> 00:12:52.181 ruin, the glory of its pure form still endures. She then says that the Pure Vessel’s power 00:12:52.181 --> 00:12:56.370 will attune her to the God of Gods. If you Dream Nail her, she also says that they are 00:12:56.370 --> 00:12:59.070 seeking the God sleeping within. 00:12:59.070 --> 00:13:03.100 The Godseeker also ponders what connection the Knight shares with the Hollow Knight before 00:13:03.100 --> 00:13:08.730 stopping herself. She then freaks out, claiming that we are sowing blasphemies in her mind. 00:13:08.730 --> 00:13:13.019 To me, this is a really important moment. The Godseekers are finally starting to take 00:13:13.019 --> 00:13:17.269 the Knight seriously. This could be a sign that the Godseekers are beginning to attune 00:13:17.269 --> 00:13:21.620 with the Knight. This is important because it seems as though attunement is a two way 00:13:21.620 --> 00:13:26.490 street. The Godseekers desire to attune with gods, and when they do so, the gods are restored 00:13:26.490 --> 00:13:30.420 to their prime strength. The Pure Vessel is a prime example of this. 00:13:30.420 --> 00:13:35.410 But let’s put a pin in that discussion. Because we need to talk about the Pure Vessel. 00:13:35.410 --> 00:13:39.740 This boss helps us better understand an important aspect of the Hollow Knight. The question 00:13:39.740 --> 00:13:44.170 of how the Hollow Knight grew has generated a lot of theories, and while my theory never 00:13:44.170 --> 00:13:49.010 really gained any traction, there was another theory that floated around for a while. This 00:13:49.010 --> 00:13:53.990 theory basically stated that the Hollow Knight’s growth was due to it taking on the infection. 00:13:53.990 --> 00:13:57.170 The evidence for this was that there are a lot of other creatures in Hallownest that 00:13:57.170 --> 00:14:01.931 changed form due to the infection. This new boss debunks that theory, since the Pure Vessel 00:14:01.931 --> 00:14:03.579 shows no sign of infection. 00:14:03.579 --> 00:14:06.519 The Hunter’s Journal entry for the Pure Vessel says the following: 00:14:06.519 --> 00:14:10.100 “Chosen vessel, raised and trained to prime form.” 00:14:10.100 --> 00:14:13.790 I think this is the best explanation we are going to get. The Hollow Knight was raised 00:14:13.790 --> 00:14:18.100 and trained to prime form, so that’s why it looks different than the other Vessels. 00:14:18.100 --> 00:14:21.459 Another interesting thing about the Pure Vessel is that it has both of its arms. 00:14:21.459 --> 00:14:26.510 Alright, boys and girls. It’s time to dive into some speculation territory. It’s impossible 00:14:26.510 --> 00:14:30.260 to Dream Nail the Pure Vessel, but what’s interesting is that there is Dream Nail dialogue 00:14:30.260 --> 00:14:34.220 for it in the game’s code. The same thing happened to the Hollow Knight in the base 00:14:34.220 --> 00:14:38.070 game, but in that instance, there was a ton of other unused dialogue that got left in 00:14:38.070 --> 00:14:43.000 with it. For the Godmaster update, there really isn’t too much unused dialogue here, which 00:14:43.000 --> 00:14:47.899 makes me think Team Cherry did this intentionally. These are the Pure Vessels actually thoughts, 00:14:47.899 --> 00:14:51.890 we just aren’t allowed to see them in game. If this is true, then the fact that it has 00:14:51.890 --> 00:14:55.350 dialogue at all indicates that the Pure Vessel isn’t truly hollow. 00:14:55.350 --> 00:14:56.520 [Cue sappy music] 00:14:56.520 --> 00:15:00.959 Looking into what the dialogue says is pretty depressing honestly. The Hollow Knight is 00:15:00.959 --> 00:15:05.800 basically just telling itself to stop thinking. So if the Hollow Knight is actually thinking 00:15:05.800 --> 00:15:10.330 these thoughts, then that means it must have been told what its purpose was, probably by 00:15:10.330 --> 00:15:16.510 the Pale King. So it knows what is at stake, and it knows it isn’t truly hollow so it’s 00:15:16.510 --> 00:15:21.430 trying its best to keep itself from thinking or feeling anything for the sake of the kingdom. 00:15:21.430 --> 00:15:26.670 The Hollow Knight wanted so badly to save Hallownest from the infection. But that feeling, 00:15:26.670 --> 00:15:31.720 that desire, that hope was what ultimately doomed them all. 00:15:31.720 --> 00:15:32.980 Kind of ironic, 00:15:32.980 --> 00:15:33.980 ♫IT’S LIKE RAAAAAIIINNN!!!♫ 00:15:34.180 --> 00:15:37.580 ♫IT’S LIKE RAAAAAIIINNN!!!♫ 00:15:37.580 --> 00:15:38.260 [Angery Radiance roar] 00:15:38.260 --> 00:15:40.500 After the battle we get this cutscene. 00:15:49.500 --> 00:15:53.160 [Angery Radiance roar] 00:15:53.160 --> 00:15:59.160 [Angeryer Shadelord roar] 00:15:59.160 --> 00:16:03.380 The scene shows the Knight in the same pose it makes after teleporting somewhere. It then 00:16:03.399 --> 00:16:08.320 looks up and catches the Hollow Knight’s eye...holes. This stare seems to imply some 00:16:08.320 --> 00:16:13.149 sort of camaraderie between the two Vessels. This camaraderie is shared by the other Vessels 00:16:13.149 --> 00:16:18.580 who observe this in silence. There is definitely room for more interpretation here, but I personally 00:16:18.580 --> 00:16:21.070 don’t think there is much else going on. 00:16:21.070 --> 00:16:25.870 Then a light shines down from above, and we hear the Radiance’s trademark roar. We then 00:16:25.870 --> 00:16:30.699 hear another roar as a wave of Void covers the screen. So we are all well acquainted 00:16:30.699 --> 00:16:36.180 with the Radiance’s roar that happens in the scene, but what is this new roar we hear? 00:16:36.180 --> 00:16:40.120 The name of the audio file implies that the roar comes from something called the “Shade 00:16:40.120 --> 00:16:44.250 Lord”. We’re going to be seeing the Shade Lord a little bit later, so let’s table 00:16:44.250 --> 00:16:45.769 this discussion for now. 00:16:45.769 --> 00:16:50.090 I want to mention a few miscellaneous things before we move on. There is a lifeblood room 00:16:50.090 --> 00:16:54.480 that can be accessed in Godhome. You have to complete at least 8 binding challenges 00:16:54.480 --> 00:16:59.570 in the Pantheons to open the door. Inside, there is an object you can strike to activate 00:16:59.570 --> 00:17:04.339 Lifeblood Cocoons that will show up during the Pantheons. On top of that, you can also 00:17:04.339 --> 00:17:07.989 see our friend, the Abyss Creature. So what does this tell us about the Abyss creature 00:17:07.989 --> 00:17:12.470 and lifeblood in general? Pretty much nothing other than that this thing classifies as a 00:17:12.470 --> 00:17:15.259 god which is obvious. 00:17:15.259 --> 00:17:20.049 Some of the bosses in Godhome have new Dream Nail dialogue. Hornet appears to know that 00:17:20.049 --> 00:17:25.269 she has been pulled into Godhome, but she seems unsure of what exactly is going on. 00:17:25.269 --> 00:17:28.990 From looking at his Dream Nail dialogue, it’s obvious that Grimm is fully aware of what 00:17:28.990 --> 00:17:33.840 is happening. In fact, he even bows to the Godseeker before each fight. Both of these 00:17:33.840 --> 00:17:39.259 characters have some sort of Godlike status. Grimm is a Higher Being, for sure. As for 00:17:39.259 --> 00:17:44.489 Hornet, her father was the Pale King, so she is, like, half Higher Being, or whatever, 00:17:44.489 --> 00:17:48.369 so this is possibly why she is only somewhat aware of what is going on. 00:17:48.369 --> 00:17:52.659 And now we move on to the fifth and final Pantheon. This is where you have to fight 00:17:52.659 --> 00:17:58.799 almost every single boss in the game without dying. Yeah, it’s hard as fuck. In fact, 00:17:58.799 --> 00:18:04.489 it’s harder than fuck. If this is fuck, then this is the Pantheon of Hallownest. The 00:18:04.489 --> 00:18:08.169 biggest problem people seem to have with this Pantheon is that there are new endings for 00:18:08.169 --> 00:18:13.940 the game locked behind the 42 boss gauntlet. I can see why this would upset people. Personally, 00:18:13.940 --> 00:18:17.869 I don’t think Team Cherry made the wrong choice by putting the new endings behind such 00:18:17.869 --> 00:18:22.570 a difficult challenge. But I also wouldn’t be mad if they made it a little more accessible 00:18:22.570 --> 00:18:23.649 either. 00:18:23.649 --> 00:18:28.690 When we first see the Godseeker in this Pantheon, she marvels at how far we have come, and tells 00:18:28.690 --> 00:18:34.799 us that the Godseekers will be listening closely to us. Again, this is important. The Godseekers 00:18:34.799 --> 00:18:39.480 are beginning to pay attention to the Knight. If the Knight talks to the Godseeker again, 00:18:39.480 --> 00:18:43.700 she will tell it to continue its combat and to continue its ritual. 00:18:43.700 --> 00:18:47.549 We then get to see the Goodseeker talking about a few of the other Gods of Hallownest. 00:18:47.549 --> 00:18:52.679 Okay so I don’t know why I have been pronouncing this as Uun. The spelling clearly indicates 00:18:52.679 --> 00:18:59.529 it as Unn. I guess Uun just sound more like a name for a slug. I don’t know, sorry. 00:18:59.529 --> 00:19:03.899 Basically the Godseeker confirms that Unn’s strength has faded from what it once was. 00:19:03.899 --> 00:19:07.690 This explains why she has stopped appearing to her children in Greenpath. 00:19:07.690 --> 00:19:12.409 The next God we see missing out on the party is the White Lady. The Godseeker says the 00:19:12.409 --> 00:19:17.940 White Lady is easily able to avoid the attunement process as if she were intentionally diminishing 00:19:17.940 --> 00:19:22.429 her power to avoid detection. If we Dream Nail her, the Godseeker says something else 00:19:22.429 --> 00:19:23.429 that’s interesting: 00:19:23.429 --> 00:19:29.049 “The chance of meeting is too rare.... but thine resonance! Could you be one of Them?” 00:19:29.049 --> 00:19:33.340 What does Godseeker mean by “Them”? We know next to nothing about the White Lady’s 00:19:33.340 --> 00:19:37.470 origins. Could this be a hint at future character development for everyone’s favorite tree 00:19:37.470 --> 00:19:38.870 lady thing? 00:19:38.870 --> 00:19:42.989 Finally, we have the Pale King. The Godseeker mentions that the Pale King’s afterglow 00:19:42.989 --> 00:19:46.779 lays heavy on the kingdom of Hallownest. She also says this: 00:19:46.779 --> 00:19:51.769 “A God so strong... Yet erased so completely. How could it happen?” 00:19:51.769 --> 00:19:56.109 I think she is referring to the death of the Pale King here. Now if you believe that the 00:19:56.109 --> 00:20:00.440 White Palace in the Kingsmold’s mind is real and not a dream, and you don’t think 00:20:00.440 --> 00:20:04.960 that the Pale King reincarnated a second time somehow, then you would probably think the 00:20:04.960 --> 00:20:09.330 Pale King is definitely dead. But like the Godseekers, we don’t actually know what 00:20:09.330 --> 00:20:13.509 killed the Pale King. This dialogue makes me think that Team Cherry is going to actually 00:20:13.509 --> 00:20:18.549 give us an answer to this question in the upcoming Hornet DLC. Or you know, maybe they’ll 00:20:18.549 --> 00:20:22.390 just give us more Fluke Hermit lore instead. 00:20:22.390 --> 00:20:26.349 After this room, all that’s left are two more battles, the first of which being with 00:20:26.349 --> 00:20:31.720 the Pure Vessel. After defeating it, the Radiance reveals herself. But this isn’t your daddy’s 00:20:31.720 --> 00:20:37.009 Radiance. This is the Absolute Radiance. She’s got blades that curve, attacks that overlap 00:20:37.009 --> 00:20:40.820 on each other, and there’s this really tricky section at the end where she goes full ballistic 00:20:40.820 --> 00:20:46.109 on the Knight. If you’re able to dodge this bullshit and land the final blow, the Knight’s 00:20:46.109 --> 00:20:52.070 shell breaks and it turns into a gigantic monster with eight eyes, the Shade Lord. 00:20:52.070 --> 00:20:55.679 This giant creature doesn’t just consume the Radiance like in the Dream No More ending, 00:20:55.679 --> 00:21:00.649 it completely destroys the asshole. One important thing to notice about this fight is that as 00:21:00.649 --> 00:21:05.210 the void comes up to confront the Radiance, there are no shades in sight. This is quite 00:21:05.210 --> 00:21:10.109 different from the first Radiance fight. If we go back to the cutscene from Pantheon Four, 00:21:10.109 --> 00:21:14.820 we see the void cover the screen along with all of the Vessels. I think this is establishing 00:21:14.820 --> 00:21:19.149 that the Shade Lord itself is responding to the Radiance’s call, whereas in the regular 00:21:19.149 --> 00:21:23.580 Radiance fight, it was the fellow shades coming to help the Knight. The fact that the Shade 00:21:23.580 --> 00:21:28.919 Lord covers over the Vessels may also indicate that the Vessels or the shades have actually 00:21:28.919 --> 00:21:33.309 become a part of the Shade Lord. But it’s hard to tell. 00:21:33.309 --> 00:21:37.999 So why am I calling this thing the “Shade Lord”. It is never called this in game, 00:21:37.999 --> 00:21:43.340 but there are files in the code that refer to it as the Shade Lord. It is also called 00:21:43.340 --> 00:21:47.299 the God of Gods. But I see that as more of a title. So I’m just going to call this 00:21:47.299 --> 00:21:51.860 thing the Shade Lord for now. Also because I’ve already said God like 128 times in 00:21:51.860 --> 00:21:52.860 this video. 00:21:52.860 --> 00:21:58.740 So, how the fuck did this become this? Let’s start by looking at the Knight statues in 00:21:58.740 --> 00:22:03.869 the Hall of Gods. If you are able to defeat every boss in the Hall of Gods, you are given 00:22:03.869 --> 00:22:08.869 access to a room containing a statue of the Knight. The statue will take three different 00:22:08.869 --> 00:22:13.919 forms depending on what difficulty you have beaten each boss on. The first statue simply 00:22:13.920 --> 00:22:19.200 shows the Knight in its traditional form. Inspecting the statue gives you the following 00:22:19.200 --> 00:22:20.080 description: 00:22:20.080 --> 00:22:23.460 “Not bug, nor beast, nor god.” 00:22:23.460 --> 00:22:26.859 Examining the statue will also give you an entry in the Hunter’s Journal for an item 00:22:26.859 --> 00:22:33.039 called the Void Idol. The Void Idol is described as a rare artifact from a time before Hallownest. 00:22:33.039 --> 00:22:37.789 It also says that the idol contains a drop of liquid from the Abyss. There is a quote 00:22:37.789 --> 00:22:42.729 from Relic Seeker Lemm saying that the ancient bugs worshipped the darkness itself. 00:22:42.729 --> 00:22:46.590 The second statue takes the form of the Knight during the ending of the Radiance battle in 00:22:46.590 --> 00:22:49.549 the base game. The statue’s description says: 00:22:49.549 --> 00:22:51.559 “Void given form.” 00:22:51.559 --> 00:22:55.220 I think this is referring to the fact that once the Knight obtained the Void Heart, it 00:22:55.220 --> 00:23:00.049 was able to command the Void and summon it during the Radiance boss fight. The Void Idol 00:23:00.049 --> 00:23:02.169 description for this statue states: 00:23:02.169 --> 00:23:05.169 “Volatile liquid of the Abyss writhes within”. 00:23:05.169 --> 00:23:09.580 This implies that while the void has form, it isn’t completely controlled. 00:23:09.580 --> 00:23:14.239 The final statue takes the form of the creature that we see in the Embrace the Void ending. 00:23:14.239 --> 00:23:18.760 Interestingly, the description for this statue has actually been changed since the first 00:23:18.760 --> 00:23:24.059 release of Godmaster. In update 1.4.2.4 it read: 00:23:24.059 --> 00:23:26.479 “Void given mind.” 00:23:26.479 --> 00:23:30.570 But since update 1.4.2.8 it now reads: 00:23:30.570 --> 00:23:32.510 “Void given focus.” 00:23:32.510 --> 00:23:34.730 The Void Idol description for this statue reads: 00:23:34.730 --> 00:23:40.611 “Rare artifact from a time before Hallownest, its spires twined in a unified form. Contains 00:23:40.611 --> 00:23:43.720 a large amount of liquid from the Abyss, perfectly still.” 00:23:43.720 --> 00:23:48.649 So in this last form, we can see that the Void is now calm, as if something has total 00:23:48.649 --> 00:23:50.149 control over it. 00:23:50.149 --> 00:23:54.440 Hopefully all of this information didn’t confuse you. I wanted to give you context 00:23:54.440 --> 00:23:59.730 for all of this, but it’s the last statue that I really want to discuss. Basically all 00:23:59.730 --> 00:24:03.649 we have to figure out is how the Void was “given focus”. Because this is how the 00:24:03.649 --> 00:24:08.590 Lord Shade came to be. I am going to present my current theory of how this happened. I 00:24:08.590 --> 00:24:12.719 think there is plenty of room for other interpretations, and I would love to hear them in the comments 00:24:12.719 --> 00:24:13.719 below. 00:24:13.719 --> 00:24:17.860 Let’s start with the Godtuner. Remember what the item description was when we first 00:24:17.860 --> 00:24:18.860 picked it up? 00:24:18.860 --> 00:24:23.859 “Seek the gods of Hallownest. Tune their power. Through their strength, ascend.” 00:24:23.859 --> 00:24:28.390 The Godtuner tells the Knight to attune itself with the Gods of Hallownest. This attunement 00:24:28.390 --> 00:24:32.830 happens through combat, according to the Godseekers. The Godseeker explains: 00:24:32.830 --> 00:24:37.619 “Through sacred combat are We attuned to this Kingdom’s greatest beings.” 00:24:37.619 --> 00:24:42.239 When redoing the Pantheon of the Knight, the Godseeker asks us if we too are seeking to 00:24:42.239 --> 00:24:47.260 attune with the Gods, implying that it is also possible for the Knight to do so. Which 00:24:47.260 --> 00:24:50.710 means this line from the Godseeker also applies to the Knight: 00:24:50.710 --> 00:24:54.759 “We shall attune Ourselves to thee and ascend ever higher!” 00:24:54.759 --> 00:24:59.659 So what does it mean to ascend? Well, the Hall of Gods features ascended versions of 00:24:59.659 --> 00:25:04.359 all of the bosses, which are more powerful than their original versions. So I think it’s 00:25:04.359 --> 00:25:09.099 safe to say that ascention makes a being more powerful. The Knight’s ascension happens 00:25:09.099 --> 00:25:12.980 at the end of the battle with the Absolute Radiance. The flavor text for getting the 00:25:12.980 --> 00:25:14.940 Embrace the Void achievement reads: 00:25:14.940 --> 00:25:19.019 “Ascend the Pantheon of Hallownest and take your place at its peak”. 00:25:19.019 --> 00:25:23.849 So the Knight attunes to the bosses through combat and ascends them when it beats the 00:25:23.849 --> 00:25:25.190 Pantheon of Hallownest. 00:25:25.190 --> 00:25:30.509 But what exactly drives all of this? What is it that allows the attunement and ascension 00:25:30.509 --> 00:25:36.440 to happen in the first place? Well, the Godseekers have to be involved. Because none of this 00:25:36.440 --> 00:25:41.299 confusing attunement garbage was important until they showed up. But what is it about 00:25:41.299 --> 00:25:46.359 the Godseekers that makes them special? They aren’t Gods. The Godseeker in the Junk Pit 00:25:46.359 --> 00:25:48.299 admits this herself when she says: 00:25:48.299 --> 00:25:52.710 “Ye must think Us Godly. Amusing, foolish.” 00:25:52.710 --> 00:25:57.440 So what is it about the Godseekers that makes them so special? It all goes back to the Weathered 00:25:57.440 --> 00:26:02.690 Mask. The mask allows the wearer to focus their thoughts. In the Pantheon of the Sage, 00:26:02.690 --> 00:26:04.769 the Godseekers tell us the following: 00:26:04.769 --> 00:26:10.179 “Until through Godly focus do We attain communion with that great power sleeping in 00:26:10.179 --> 00:26:11.669 the Kingdom’s heart...” 00:26:11.669 --> 00:26:16.950 I think this “Godly focus” is what makes Godhome work. It’s what allows creatures 00:26:16.950 --> 00:26:22.019 to be attuned back to their prime forms and what allows them to become more powerful through 00:26:22.019 --> 00:26:27.580 ascension. All of the abilities that the Godseekers have come back to this Godly focus. 00:26:27.580 --> 00:26:32.369 For the first four Pantheons, the Godseekers have no interest in the Knight, seeing it 00:26:32.369 --> 00:26:38.289 as a weak and meager... cringer. At the end of the Pantheon of the Knight, however, the 00:26:38.289 --> 00:26:42.830 Godseeker mentions how the Knight is beginning to get into her mind. Not long after this 00:26:42.830 --> 00:26:47.460 moment, we hear the Lord Shade’s roar for the first time. Once the knight makes it to 00:26:47.460 --> 00:26:52.620 the Pantheon of Hallownest, the Godseeker starts paying attention and listening to us. 00:26:52.620 --> 00:26:57.109 By the time the Knight has finally defeated the Radiance, all of the focus from the Godseekers 00:26:57.109 --> 00:27:01.929 is pointed towards this tiny little bug. And with all of that Godly focus being directed 00:27:01.929 --> 00:27:06.259 right at the Knight, who just so happens to be unified with the Void thanks to the Void 00:27:06.259 --> 00:27:11.090 Heart, the Lord Shade finally makes a formal appearance. The Godseekers have given focus 00:27:11.090 --> 00:27:12.529 to the Void. 00:27:12.529 --> 00:27:17.610 Before we get into the ending cutscene I wanted to talk about the new Lemm quote we got. It 00:27:17.610 --> 00:27:18.610 reads: 00:27:18.610 --> 00:27:23.950 “Inspired or mad, those ancient bugs. They devoted their worship to no lord, or power, 00:27:23.950 --> 00:27:26.969 or strength, but to the very darkness itself.” 00:27:26.969 --> 00:27:30.919 So this pretty much confirms that the ancient civilization before Hallownest worshipped 00:27:30.919 --> 00:27:36.769 the Void. To what extent we don’t know. Did they worship the Lord Shade, or just the 00:27:36.769 --> 00:27:41.389 Void in general? Did the Lord Shade even exist in the past, or did it only come into being 00:27:41.389 --> 00:27:47.419 because of the Godseekers? A more involved Void does jive nice with the Radiance’s 00:27:47.419 --> 00:27:53.099 dialogue where she calls the Knight her ancient enemy. Did the Radiance combat this Void monster 00:27:53.099 --> 00:27:54.450 in the past? 00:27:54.450 --> 00:27:59.229 Alright, let’s move on to the cutscene. So the Lord Shade comes down from the sky 00:27:59.229 --> 00:28:04.159 and gives the Godseeker a friendly hug. You can hear the Godseeker’s voice in this scene, 00:28:04.159 --> 00:28:10.539 and to me, it sounds like she is more in awe than she is scared. After all, the Godseekers 00:28:10.539 --> 00:28:15.419 were looking for the most powerful God, and now, there’s one in her presence. Also, 00:28:15.419 --> 00:28:20.330 in Godseeker mode, Godseeker keeps talking like she gets off to being pulverized by a 00:28:20.330 --> 00:28:25.360 god, so this all makes sense. After this scene we see the Void leaking out of the Godseeker 00:28:25.360 --> 00:28:30.149 in the Junk Pit. The Void then erupts out of her, seemingly unleashing itself into the 00:28:30.149 --> 00:28:31.779 land of Hallownest. 00:28:31.779 --> 00:28:36.850 The final scene takes place at the Temple of the Black Egg. Hornet watches as the Radiance’s 00:28:36.850 --> 00:28:42.429 infection fades away, and we hear the sound of footsteps and rattling chains. A figure 00:28:42.429 --> 00:28:45.950 appears in front of the camera and Hornet prepares herself for battle. 00:28:45.950 --> 00:28:50.370 We can tell from this scene that the Radiance is truly dead, since the infection is fading 00:28:50.370 --> 00:28:54.980 away. Why does killing the Radiance in Godhome kill the real Radiance? Since it Radiance 00:28:54.980 --> 00:28:59.869 was already in the Dream world, maybe attuning to it works in a different way than normal. 00:28:59.869 --> 00:29:04.940 One of the Godseekers in Godhome says “A bridge”. Maybe all the Godseekers did was 00:29:04.940 --> 00:29:09.119 find a way to bridge the Godhome with the dream inside of the Hollow Knight’s mind. 00:29:09.119 --> 00:29:12.840 Getting back to the cutscene, some people have said that the infection is being turned 00:29:12.840 --> 00:29:16.469 into Void, but I think these vines are just normally that dark. 00:29:16.469 --> 00:29:21.059 Let’s talk about the figure approaching Hornet at the end of the cutscene. It’s 00:29:21.059 --> 00:29:25.549 obviously the Hollow Knight. We hear its chains rattling, we see the bottom part of its shell 00:29:25.549 --> 00:29:29.729 and we also see it’s nail. And since the Radiance is dead, the Hollow Knight would 00:29:29.729 --> 00:29:35.029 presumably no longer be infected. But this does raise the question. How the fuck did 00:29:35.029 --> 00:29:39.190 the Hollow Knight free itself from the chains? This doesn’t make a lick of goddamn sense 00:29:39.190 --> 00:29:44.309 to me. Seriously, did it somehow pull off some sort of reverse reverse David Blaine 00:29:44.309 --> 00:29:49.409 maneuver? I mean I get what Team Cherry is trying to do. After all, ending it with Hornet 00:29:49.409 --> 00:29:53.909 just standing there like a dumbass wouldn’t have been that exciting. But it still bothers 00:29:53.909 --> 00:29:55.159 me. 00:29:55.159 --> 00:29:59.239 This ending totally caught me off guard. I honestly thought the Hornet DLC was going 00:29:59.239 --> 00:30:03.239 to be a prequel. In fact I had a whole video planned where I was going to go through and 00:30:03.239 --> 00:30:07.759 predict what I thought would happen. Luckily I was too lazy to get that done before this 00:30:07.759 --> 00:30:12.230 update came out. But now that the new ending seems to be strongly hinting at a sequel, 00:30:12.230 --> 00:30:17.130 I am actually really excited. The Shade Lord looks absolutely terrifying, and I have no 00:30:17.130 --> 00:30:21.529 idea how Hornet is going to stand any chance against it. Yeah, I don’t think her needle 00:30:21.529 --> 00:30:26.779 is going to do shit. However, thanks to an alternate ending, we do have an idea of how 00:30:26.779 --> 00:30:28.669 the Void might be defeated. 00:30:28.669 --> 00:30:32.779 If the player has successfully delivered the Delicate Flower to the grave in the Queen’s 00:30:32.779 --> 00:30:37.570 Garden, more flowers will begin to grow in that spot. These flowers can be taken to various 00:30:37.570 --> 00:30:43.589 other NPCs in the game. This is probably what Team Cherry meant by romantic options. Still 00:30:43.589 --> 00:30:47.999 can’t give one to my waifu though. Taking the flower to the Godseeker unlocks an alternate 00:30:47.999 --> 00:30:53.019 ending where the Godseeker and the Void disappear, presumably stopping the Void from tearing 00:30:53.019 --> 00:30:54.529 into Hallownest. 00:30:54.529 --> 00:30:58.519 The description for the flower says that it glows with a pale light, which is usually 00:30:58.519 --> 00:31:03.529 a sign of something having a connection to the Pale King. Turns out that’s not true. 00:31:03.529 --> 00:31:07.950 Eternal Emilitia tells us that the flower’s pure aura is no match for the light of the 00:31:07.950 --> 00:31:13.249 Pale King. The White Lady also tells us that the flower is not even from Hallownest, implying 00:31:13.249 --> 00:31:18.320 that Mysterious Ze’mer brought it with her from some other land. We have no clue where 00:31:18.320 --> 00:31:23.530 that was, but there is something about Mysterious Ze’mer that is worth pointing out. After 00:31:23.530 --> 00:31:27.789 completing the Flower quest, Ze’mer nopes the fuck out of existence, similar to how 00:31:27.789 --> 00:31:32.099 the Delicate Flower caused the Godseeker to also disappear. That’s about all we know 00:31:32.099 --> 00:31:36.609 for now. It seems pretty likely that the Hornet DLC will get further into exactly what is 00:31:36.609 --> 00:31:38.159 going on here. 00:31:38.160 --> 00:31:42.180 And that’s it. That’s all of the lore I can mercilessly beat out of this update. 00:31:44.860 --> 00:31:48.420 Okay, there is one more thing, you can now find the Nailsmith’s body floating in the 00:31:48.420 --> 00:31:54.160 water near the Junk Pit. I’m glad Team Cherry gave us that image. But yeah that’s it. 00:31:55.600 --> 00:32:00.500 Well, there’s also the Eternal Ordeal. This is a minigame of sorts where you have to fend 00:32:00.509 --> 00:32:05.549 off against an endless stream of Zotes. It’s a cool area, but there isn’t any lore to 00:32:05.549 --> 00:32:10.629 discuss. For some reason, Team Cherry didn’t add Journal entries for the additional zotelings. 00:32:10.629 --> 00:32:16.039 This is unacceptable. Alright I actually am done this time. There’s nothing left in 00:32:16.040 --> 00:32:17.160 the game to talk about. 00:32:18.080 --> 00:32:22.620 But there is something not in the game that I need to talk about: Glorified charms. In 00:32:22.620 --> 00:32:27.220 case you hadn’t noticed, they kind of don’t actually exist. Rumor is these charms would 00:32:27.220 --> 00:32:31.409 have required the entire game to be reworked so that they wouldn't completely break everything. 00:32:31.409 --> 00:32:35.320 But Team Cherry hasn’t put out a formal blog update saying why the charms were cut 00:32:35.320 --> 00:32:39.139 or even what they would have been like, so I don't really know for sure. This update 00:32:39.139 --> 00:32:43.179 is still amazing regardless, but it is still a bit of a bummer. I just hope Team Cherry 00:32:43.179 --> 00:32:46.989 fills us in on how the charms were going to work at some point in the future. 00:32:46.989 --> 00:32:52.019 So where does this update leave us? This isn’t 100% confirmed but it looks like Hallownest 00:32:52.019 --> 00:32:56.840 is about to get totally fucked by the Shade Lord, and it’s up to Hornet to stop it. 00:32:56.840 --> 00:33:01.289 How will she do that? Hell if I know, that’s Team Cherry’s problem now. They’re the 00:33:01.289 --> 00:33:04.820 ones who have to come up with a solution to this problem that actually makes sense. I 00:33:04.820 --> 00:33:08.710 mean, I’ll try and figure it out, but my theories can be as ridiculous as I want as 00:33:08.710 --> 00:33:12.269 long as I put the word “speculation” in the video title. That’s the beauty of having 00:33:12.269 --> 00:33:14.269 a lore channel after all. 00:33:14.269 --> 00:33:20.519 Speaking of which. I know this happened like two months ago, but thanks for 10,000 subscribers. 00:33:20.519 --> 00:33:24.711 I’ve really enjoyed being able to make these videos for the Hollow Knight community, and 00:33:24.711 --> 00:33:28.859 I love hearing your theories in the comments section and on some of the other websites 00:33:28.859 --> 00:33:35.230 like Twitter, and Discord, and Reddit and LinkedIn. I promise to continue doing whatever 00:33:35.230 --> 00:33:38.349 it is I am doing. See you in 12 weeks!
