Hi, Todd Simpson from Mozilla.
I'm going to show you a demo of WebRTC
in commendation with our social api which
which we currently stand Firefox.
so here we go!
So... here we are.
On the screen you can see the nightly version of firefox
with some social integration.
This is just a little sample social integration that we done for ourselves.
Running on the right hand side of the browser
with this prosoner signing and the guest mode.
For Todd, I just login using guest mode. And I'm signing into a sample provider
And here you can see the other people that are currently
signed in, including my good buddy Rainer.
And I'm just gonna right clicking on Rainer's name
initiate a video call, webRTC call with him.
So there he is!
Hi Rainer, how are you?
How is it going?
Great!
So as well as having videos here,
And you publishing social api, this video window float with you.
So as I move around the web, I don't always go back to a tab to continue talking to Rainer.
He is there wherever I go on the web.
Beyond the audio and video, we also integrated for data channel support.
So we can massage back and forth to each other. You know saying "hi".
Let's going over the WebRTC data channel between two of us.
Once you've got audio and video in this nice floating window
I can go to any site I want.
For example, I'll go here to google images,
And I know that Rainer loves kittens,
So we'll search pictures of kittens.
When I see a kitten, I can simply drag that image, and drop it on to our conversation.
And TADDA! over on the Rainer's mechine
he's actually just seeing what I saw.
Which is pretty cool.
Of course, you could do that with images and any other content on the web.
So here I'll drop a video over, and you'll see that on the Rainer side
it automatically get the video.
I can go to a specific site like CBC.ca.
And I can grab a tab. And actually drop that tab in.
Guess what? Rainer can see exactly what I'm watching as well.
And finally, Of course, this also works for meta files.
Here I've got my file dealer on the mac.
I grab a file, and I'm gonna share that file with Rainer.
Sent him a Firefox logo.
So that's it. You've seen the integration of social and WebRTC
allows to do this peer to peer connections video/audio
and data, and also having them flow with us when we move around the web.
Thanks Rainer.
