Today we are going to show you the East coast of Menorca

starting with the towns and then with the typical food from island

and ending with the most popular beaches.

Here you can see the town hall of Mao .

It was built in 1835 and is next to the Santa Maria’s church.

Santa Maria’s church was built between 1748 and 1772.

In this square we celebrate the typical ‘Fiestas’ of Mahon.

Going up the street we can find the “pont de sant roc”.

it’s the last part of the city wall.

Going down the street we can find the fish market and the market square.

Now a days the fish market is used as a meeting place where people go to drink and eat bar snacks.

As you can see at the entrances, it was built in 1927.

The market square is a square building that goes around a patio

and there are some little stalls with fruit, and typical products from Menorca.

In the same street we can find ‘Costa de ses Voltes’ that goes to the harbour.

Here there are lots of restaurants

and some time ago there used to be some discosbut they are all closed now a days.

Now we are going to move to Es Castell,

a little town situated on the South-East of the island.

Es Castell is the first city in Spain where you can see the sun rise,

so people usually go to Cales Fonts.

In this town there are some places where you can go swimming or berth your boat.

The most famous is Cales Fonts,

there are lots of restaurants.

There is also Cala Corb,

here you can find Es Cau,

a place where people from the island meet and sing typical songs from Menorca and have a nice time.

Also there is a little 'moll' called Moll de l'hospital

Here we are in ‘Plaça Explanada’

where all kids come to play

and on the 24th and 25th of July people celebrate Saint James fiestas with horses.

Here we can also find the town hall and the police station.

During the last few years

some volunteers have been rebuilding two mills

and now they are finish look very different.

Now we are moving to another village.

This is an other sall town

but it has some special tourist resorts or beaches

for example Binibeca o Punta Prima

Lets’ start with Punta Prima,

it’s a tourist resort as Maria has just said.

It has a big beach and in front you can see ‘Illa de l’aire’

a place where many lizards that we can only found on that island live.

now let’s go to Binibeca an old fishers’ village

All buildings are painted in white

and is a very quiet place.

Next to it there is also a beach called Binibeca.
