about your occupation?

-Umm, well...

No, no, I said I'm in acting.

-Yeah, I say, "I'm an actor," but...

I told them I also do other things, 
like interior design and stuff.

-That's just a part-time job!

What are your thoughts 
about acting recently?

Still the same.

I want to pursue it.

I want to be on movie sets.
I like being on site.

But, haven't you been doing 
design and such as well lately?

You're writing books and stuff.

You also film and do music.

But what you're saying is that 
acting is still your main focus. Right?

I want to be working as an actor.

I put the same amount of effort 
in everything I do, though.

And it's not like they're all 
completely different things.

I think actors who only see themselves 
as actors are not very interesting.

But in that case, I think you should 
become an acclaimed actor first.

It's like even though you 
work at an eel restaurant,

you're only getting good at 
cooking Western style food,

when you don't even 
know how to fillet a fish.

So if you decide to do eel, you really 
need to know how to fillet and grill it.

And sometimes, you make that delicious 
omelette rice for your co-workers.

That would be great, I think.

But if people don't like the eel 
you cook, that's not the way to go.

It's not like I'm worried,

but that's the attitude I think 
you should take towards acting.

But I know that for you,

you don't have whole-number goals 
like one, 50, or 100.

You're more like, 
"How about 34.79 or 65.23?"

I'm sure that thought is 
always present in your mind.

But that's really hard 
to follow sometimes.

-It's kind of hard to understand.
-Yes, I get that.

Because nobody's done that before.

So in order to make people root for you,

you should have a reasonable explanation 
for what you do.

There's a part of you that doesn't 
want to decide?

Rather than that,

when you have some kind of 
goal or dream, it's like...

Everybody says they have that.

But that would mean 
that it's just prep time now.

Like an apprenticeship.

I don't really like apprenticeships 
or preparation.

I want it to be the real thing.

That's the way I do it now.

I don't want to have to approach people 
saying, "I'm an apprentice."

When people say, "You know, that guy 
used to be an apprentice,"

I'm sure the person 
they're talking about never was.

I don't think they did it 
with an apprentice's mindset.

But later, it's easier to say they were 
apprentices. so that's what they say.

If you get what I'm saying...

He's really good at finding ways 
to explain himself.

But I get what you're saying. 
You're absolutely right.

But let's go back to the example 
with the eel restaurant.

You don't want to become an expert 
at washing dishes, do you?

First, you wash dishes like crazy,

and then you learn how to fillet 
and grill the fish and make it delicious

and that's what you really 
want to do, right?

I'm washing the dishes now.
