WEBVTT 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 (Lia Commissar) Hi! This morning 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 I'm going to talk about education and neuroscience, 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 both generally as a field that's developing 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 but also, the specific work that we've been doing in this field. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 The Wellcome Trust -- OK -- 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 the Wellcome Trust, for those of you who don't know, 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 is the second largest charitable foundation globally, 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 with the aim of improving health. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 And it does that by funding lots of bio-medical research, but also 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 by funding work in the social science and humanities, 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 funding lots of education work, doing lots of engagement work 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 and also lots of policy work. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 So I'm going to talk through a few things this morning. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 Firstly, what has neuroscience got to do with education? 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 What impact does it have on education at the moment? 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 The work that we've been doing and then, thinking about the future. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 So, what has neuroscience got to do with education? 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 Well, if education is about learning something, 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 be it knowledge or a skill, 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 and neuroscience is the study of the nervous system and the brain, 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 then they're pretty linked, in my opinion. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 And it's not new to kind of talk about the brain, in relation to education. 1:13
