welcome to the largest study on climbing
falls for the last 2 years we have
measured and analyzed hundreds of Falls
big small with heavy and light climbers
and one of the main questions I had is
how does extra slack affect the fall or
more precisely does falling more reduce
the pendulum into the wall and how hard
the climber is going to hit the wall so
long story short yes it does but not
always if the catch is soft like in this
case we can see the correlation how
falling more reduces the horizontal
speed however in the case of a hard
catch the fall exceeds rope's ability to
absorb the impact and the climber is
pulled back up and into the wall even
harder and then we had some more
peculiar discoveries so if you're
