0:00:04.080,0:00:08.970 After a year and a half of agonizing waiting,[br]and the r/hollowknightmemes community trying 0:00:08.970,0:00:14.500 to sacrifice me to appease the Team Cherry[br]gods, Hollow Knight Silksong finally has some 0:00:14.500,0:00:17.970 news in the form of a brand new trailer. 0:00:17.970,0:00:25.869 Not only that, but Silksong will be releasing[br]day one on Xbox Game Pass for PC, Xbox Consoles, 0:00:25.869,0:00:27.240 and the Cloud. 0:00:27.240,0:00:31.770 This means that Silksong is officially coming[br]to Xbox, which hadn’t been officially confirmed 0:00:31.770,0:00:33.190 before now. 0:00:33.190,0:00:34.590 But it makes sense. 0:00:34.590,0:00:38.879 Team Cherry and Microsoft seem to be on good[br]terms, considering the first Hollow Knight 0:00:38.879,0:00:41.310 is already on Game Pass. 0:00:41.310,0:00:45.980 And Team Cherry even streamed Hollow Knight[br]on Microsoft’s own beloved streaming site, 0:00:45.980,0:00:46.980 Mixer. 0:00:46.980,0:00:51.540 The Silksong trailer was shown during the[br]Xbox and Bethesda event at the Summer Games 0:00:51.540,0:00:52.540 Fest. 0:00:52.540,0:00:58.140 According to Xbox, every game shown in this[br]event will come out in the next twelve months. 0:00:58.140,0:01:03.830 That means that Silksong won’t release any[br]later than June 12th 2023. 0:01:03.830,0:01:08.210 This was even confirmed by Xbox on Twitter. 0:01:08.210,0:01:12.550 But some people have challenged this since[br]Silksong doesn’t appear on this image that 0:01:12.550,0:01:13.550 Xbox shared. 0:01:13.550,0:01:18.990 But even if Silksong was in this image, it[br]still says that developers are “aiming” 0:01:18.990,0:01:20.600 for these release dates. 0:01:20.600,0:01:22.960 So nothing is concrete here. 0:01:22.960,0:01:27.710 All that said, and I am really hoping I’m[br]correct here, Silksong will definitely be 0:01:27.710,0:01:29.810 out within the next 12 months. 0:01:29.810,0:01:34.771 It’s not really clear if the game is launching[br]on Xbox the same day as PC and Switch, and 0:01:34.771,0:01:39.140 we still don’t have confirmation of a PlayStation[br]release, but I’m sure time will tell on 0:01:39.140,0:01:40.560 all those questions. 0:01:40.560,0:01:44.940 Regardless, the real reason we’re here is[br]to dive deep into this new trailer to see 0:01:44.940,0:01:48.670 what Team Cherry has been cooking up for us[br]these past 18 months. 0:01:48.670,0:01:51.700 Does Hornet have any new moves to show off? 0:01:51.700,0:01:54.810 Will any exciting bosses be making a debut? 0:01:54.810,0:01:57.990 Will Kimmy Gibbler from Full House make an[br]appearance? 0:01:57.990,0:02:01.710 Let’s find out. 0:02:01.710,0:02:04.130 First up, we see a Rating Pending logo. 0:02:04.130,0:02:08.890 That means that Team Cherry has submitted[br]Silksong to the ESRB to get an age rating 0:02:08.890,0:02:09.890 for the game. 0:02:09.890,0:02:14.340 I don’t know how long it takes for the ESRB[br]to rate a game, and I’m also not sure how 0:02:14.340,0:02:18.700 complete a game needs to be before the rating[br]process can begin. 0:02:18.700,0:02:23.400 But if I were to take a complete guess in[br]the dark, I’d say this is a good sign. 0:02:23.400,0:02:28.020 Afterwards, we see a few strands of silk,[br]and then Hornet shouts. 0:02:28.020,0:02:29.400 Hegale! 0:02:29.400,0:02:33.200 The first shot of the new trailer takes place[br]in what appears to be an early area of the 0:02:33.200,0:02:34.200 game. 0:02:34.200,0:02:38.010 We’ve seen it several times before, and[br]I’m guessing it’s what connects the opening 0:02:38.010,0:02:42.500 Moss Grotto level to the Forest of Bones fiery[br]area. 0:02:42.500,0:02:46.099 Interestingly enough, the Moss Grotto doesn’t[br]seem to be in this trailer at all. 0:02:46.099,0:02:49.110 We’re introduced to some new enemies here. 0:02:49.110,0:02:52.780 They appear to be moss-like creatures suffering[br]from male pattern baldness. 0:02:52.780,0:02:58.190 This shot does tell us to “Fight for the[br]Fate of a Haunted Land”, and we’ll see 0:02:58.190,0:03:03.530 examples of that later in the trailer, but[br]maybe these bugs are also suffering somehow, 0:03:03.530,0:03:05.940 causing them to lose their leaves. 0:03:05.940,0:03:10.709 We also see these small bugs that fly away[br]when Hornet comes near, similar to what Maskflies 0:03:10.709,0:03:12.490 do in Hollow Knight. 0:03:12.490,0:03:17.510 They look like baby versions of the Moss Knight[br]and that makes me a little uncomfortable. 0:03:17.510,0:03:20.819 The next shot appears to take place in a new[br]area. 0:03:20.819,0:03:24.860 It appears to be some kind of crypt or abandoned[br]church. 0:03:24.860,0:03:30.209 We have seen a graveyard-like area in previous[br]footage, so it might be somewhere close to 0:03:30.209,0:03:31.209 that. 0:03:31.209,0:03:36.709 We see Hornet do some pretty standard platforming[br]here by diving head first into balls. 0:03:36.709,0:03:39.930 Hornet also has a new tool equipped that we[br]haven’t seen before. 0:03:39.930,0:03:44.709 We’ll be seeing it later in the trailer[br]so put a pin in that detail for now. 0:03:44.709,0:03:49.600 In the next shot, we see Hornet dismount off[br]the Bell Beast at what I assume is some kind 0:03:49.600,0:03:50.600 of station. 0:03:50.600,0:03:55.830 I’m guessing that this is an early game[br]station somewhere near the green bony area. 0:03:55.830,0:04:00.459 As mentioned previously, the Bell Beast will[br]be like the Last Stag in Hollow Knight, the 0:04:00.459,0:04:05.040 only difference being that you have to actually[br]fight and subdue the Bell Beast first. 0:04:05.040,0:04:07.520 This next shot is fucking awesome. 0:04:07.520,0:04:12.200 Hornet appears to be inside of some large[br]scale industrial grinding machine, and is 0:04:12.200,0:04:15.920 forced to jump from platforms as they fall[br]out of the ceiling. 0:04:15.920,0:04:20.489 Conceptually, this reminds me a lot of something[br]like the Crystal Peak in the original Hollow 0:04:20.489,0:04:21.489 Knight. 0:04:21.489,0:04:25.249 And it’s fun to compare these two, because[br]it really shows how much Team Cherry has refined 0:04:25.249,0:04:27.729 their craft over the past five years. 0:04:27.729,0:04:30.139 We also have a new tool on display. 0:04:30.139,0:04:34.460 The left tool appears to be similar to the[br]Pimpillo we saw in the reveal trailer. 0:04:34.460,0:04:38.220 We know that Hornet is able to upgrade her[br]tools throughout the game, so this could be 0:04:38.220,0:04:42.160 an earlier version of the pimpillo item that[br]doesn’t have fire. 0:04:42.160,0:04:47.139 This tool is never used in the trailer unfortunately,[br]so we’ll have to wait to see how it works. 0:04:47.139,0:04:51.629 The second tool is some kind of drill which[br]we saw in the Edge magazine interview. 0:04:51.629,0:04:55.430 And don’t worry, we’ll see Hornet drill[br]some bugs soon enough. 0:04:55.430,0:05:00.680 Another new detail about these tools is a[br]slight change to these HUD sprites: they now 0:05:00.680,0:05:02.199 have what appear to be arrows. 0:05:02.199,0:05:06.139 I’m guessing that this means tools will[br]use directional inputs. 0:05:06.139,0:05:12.129 So you have one tool button, and you press[br]that along with up or down to use a certain 0:05:12.129,0:05:16.949 tool, similar to how items worked in the old[br]school Castlevania games. 0:05:16.949,0:05:21.619 As mentioned in previous videos, these tools[br]have a limited number of uses, but when Hornet 0:05:21.619,0:05:27.270 rests at a bench, she is able to pay shell[br]shards picked up from enemies to rebuild them. 0:05:27.270,0:05:31.650 Next, we see Hornet riding an updraft to move[br]upward through a room. 0:05:31.650,0:05:36.219 Team Cherry explained in the Edge Magazine[br]interview that Hornet’s larger profile over 0:05:36.219,0:05:40.279 the Knight forced them to make Pharloom larger[br]than Hallownest. 0:05:40.279,0:05:45.240 Figuring out how to integrate verticality[br]into this larger world probably influenced 0:05:45.240,0:05:47.270 them to add things like this. 0:05:47.270,0:05:51.930 It seems much faster and less committal than[br]having to ride an elevator, like we see in 0:05:51.930,0:05:55.409 the City of Tears, so I’m really digging[br]this. 0:05:55.409,0:05:58.089 One of Hornet’s tools is a Lifeblood syringe. 0:05:58.089,0:06:03.099 We’ve seen it before, it basically just[br]gives her additional Lifeblood hearts. 0:06:03.099,0:06:06.069 The next shot appears to be in some watery[br]area. 0:06:06.069,0:06:10.369 What’s most important about this shot are[br]these white flowers growing here, similar 0:06:10.369,0:06:14.569 to the ones seen during the Lace fight shown[br]off in the reveal trailer. 0:06:14.569,0:06:19.830 Another area we’ve seen that has these flower[br]petals is the arena where Hornet fights Seth. 0:06:19.830,0:06:24.440 Seth can be found waiting amidst tangled roots[br]at the base of the Citadel. 0:06:24.440,0:06:28.699 From this, we can assume that this area is[br]somewhere close to Seth’s arena. 0:06:28.699,0:06:32.279 We still don’t know how these flowers tie[br]into Silksong’s grander narrative. 0:06:32.279,0:06:37.349 But we know that similar looking flowers that[br]were carried to Hallownest by the Grey Mourner 0:06:37.349,0:06:40.030 carry some sort of strange power. 0:06:40.030,0:06:42.719 Seemingly capable of stopping the Void. 0:06:42.719,0:06:46.059 We can see in this shot that Hornet has a[br]basic pin tool. 0:06:46.059,0:06:50.969 She also has a broken silk meter here, which[br]I assume is the result of having died and 0:06:50.969,0:06:53.199 not yet retrieved her cocoon. 0:06:53.199,0:06:57.870 The next shot shows Hornet riding a horizontal[br]platform as it zooms through the Forest of 0:06:57.870,0:06:59.159 Bones. 0:06:59.159,0:07:00.809 Nothing much of note gameplay wise. 0:07:00.809,0:07:03.389 But let’s take a look at the heads up display. 0:07:03.389,0:07:07.839 We’ve seen a number of different HUD designs[br]already in this trailer, which were shown 0:07:07.839,0:07:10.469 off earlier in the Edge magazine interview. 0:07:10.469,0:07:15.800 But this design is not only new, but also[br]functionally different from the other ones. 0:07:15.800,0:07:20.149 We don’t know for sure, but it seems like[br]the HUD changes depending on what crest Hornet 0:07:20.149,0:07:21.840 has equipped. 0:07:21.840,0:07:25.929 Crests allow Hornet to use different types[br]of tools in different quantities, but it seems 0:07:25.929,0:07:28.190 they can do more than just that. 0:07:28.190,0:07:31.819 Notice how this HUD design has a few differences[br]from the other ones. 0:07:31.819,0:07:36.849 Not only is the actual area of this top meter[br]smaller, the bottom meter has a notch in a 0:07:36.849,0:07:38.449 different location. 0:07:38.449,0:07:42.999 From what I can tell, once Hornet’s silk[br]meter fills up to this notch, this top meter 0:07:42.999,0:07:47.939 lights up, meaning that Hornet can perform[br]her healing move, Bind. 0:07:47.939,0:07:53.759 This means that Hornet can actually heal herself[br]with less silk when she uses this crest. 0:07:53.759,0:07:59.029 This HUD also appears to open up into a harp[br]when enough silk is collected to use Bind. 0:07:59.029,0:08:03.550 There’s plenty more to talk about with these[br]huds, but we’ll be revisiting this later 0:08:03.550,0:08:05.369 so hold tight. 0:08:05.369,0:08:11.069 As for Hornet’s tool here, we never see[br]it in action so I have no idea what it does. 0:08:11.069,0:08:14.440 This next shot is so dope, Hornet ziplining! 0:08:14.440,0:08:17.689 I just love this shit, it’s so cool looking! 0:08:17.689,0:08:20.909 This appears to be an area we’ve seen since[br]the reveal trailer. 0:08:20.909,0:08:22.929 I always call this area a clocktower. 0:08:22.929,0:08:25.610 It’s never been confirmed or anything. 0:08:25.610,0:08:28.050 But it would make sense to be a clocktower. 0:08:28.050,0:08:32.600 We know that the bugs in the Docks keep track[br]of when certain things needing to happen based 0:08:32.600,0:08:33.810 on a bell toll. 0:08:33.810,0:08:38.470 A society like this would probably use a giant[br]clocktower with a bell in it to keep things 0:08:38.470,0:08:40.010 running orderly. 0:08:40.010,0:08:44.310 In this area, there’s also a new enemy who[br]puffs up like a hedgehog whenever someone 0:08:44.310,0:08:45.460 gets close to him. 0:08:45.460,0:08:49.690 If you thought that last shot was cool, check[br]this out! 0:08:49.690,0:08:51.990 Hornet taking an elevator. 0:08:51.990,0:08:52.990 Hell yeah! 0:08:52.990,0:08:56.760 I know I’m taking this piss right now, but[br]I just want to say how happy I am to see a 0:08:56.760,0:08:58.570 new Silksong trailer. 0:08:58.570,0:09:00.940 What is this 2019?! 0:09:00.940,0:09:05.210 This could be the elevator that finally takes[br]Hornet up to the Citadel. 0:09:05.210,0:09:08.770 Interestingly, we see a lot of cobwebs in[br]this room. 0:09:08.770,0:09:13.280 We know that Pharloom is haunted by silk,[br]but it’s nice to see it manifesting in a 0:09:13.280,0:09:15.270 physical way like this. 0:09:15.270,0:09:17.480 We also see a new tool in Hornet’s inventory. 0:09:17.480,0:09:20.850 But we never see her use it, so I’m not[br]sure what it is. 0:09:20.850,0:09:23.700 It kinda looks like a grappling hook? 0:09:23.700,0:09:28.630 This other one is just a flying familiar,[br]probably similar in function to bugs created 0:09:28.630,0:09:31.350 by the glowing womb charm in Hollow Knight. 0:09:31.350,0:09:35.830 This creature seems to be similar to the one[br]we saw in the previous shot, but painted red 0:09:35.830,0:09:38.100 to match Hornet’s drip. 0:09:38.100,0:09:42.940 In the next shot, Hornet fights some enemies[br]on what might be a bridge between two large 0:09:42.940,0:09:44.090 structures. 0:09:44.090,0:09:47.520 To me, this looks like it’s just on the[br]edge of the Citadel. 0:09:47.520,0:09:52.680 The Xbox website actually uploaded a few additional[br]screenshots of Silksong, and we can see another 0:09:52.680,0:09:56.370 area that looks like it’s near the entrance[br]of this large city. 0:09:56.370,0:10:00.090 There’s even an enclosed bridge in the far[br]background. 0:10:00.090,0:10:02.900 Another interesting detail here are the white[br]bugs. 0:10:02.900,0:10:06.760 They appear to be the same type of bug that[br]Lace was conducting before the fight in the 0:10:06.760,0:10:11.540 Deep Docks, which might also be the same bug[br]that freed Hornet from her prison at the start 0:10:11.540,0:10:12.540 of the game. 0:10:12.540,0:10:15.950 Do these bugs naturally live around the Citadel? 0:10:15.950,0:10:18.870 Are they connected to the white flowers somehow? 0:10:18.870,0:10:22.730 We also see silk just lying around this area[br]too. 0:10:22.730,0:10:27.320 Getting back to the trailer, we see Hornet[br]do this tasmanian devil move. 0:10:27.320,0:10:32.050 This appears to be like her pogo attack we’ve[br]seen before, but modified to be more like 0:10:32.050,0:10:33.260 a spin. 0:10:33.260,0:10:38.340 It appears that Hornet’s pogo, dash attack[br]and standard attack are actually different 0:10:38.340,0:10:40.450 depending on which crest she has equipped. 0:10:40.450,0:10:45.310 In fact, in this same scene, we see her do[br]a modified dash attack where she leaps into 0:10:45.310,0:10:46.840 the air like a Naruto character. 0:10:46.840,0:10:47.840 Probably. 0:10:47.840,0:10:48.840 I haven’t seen it.. 0:10:48.840,0:10:51.590 And for her standard attack, it looks like[br]she does a claw slash. 0:10:51.590,0:10:55.820 You can see Hornet’s HUD has these little[br]claws on it in this shot. 0:10:55.820,0:10:59.800 Since we’re on this topic, let's cover the[br]other crest attacks really quickly. 0:10:59.800,0:11:04.070 The harp crest’s regular attack is pretty[br]similar to the base crest. 0:11:04.070,0:11:07.320 The dash attack sends Hornet way back if it[br]connects. 0:11:07.320,0:11:12.040 And the pogo launches you slightly upwards,[br]kinda like the Hollow Knight pogo. 0:11:12.040,0:11:16.750 The spikey crest appears to have a wider swing[br]for its base attack with an uppercut dash 0:11:16.750,0:11:19.810 attack, and a sweeping pogo move. 0:11:19.810,0:11:21.890 I honestly think this system is pretty cool. 0:11:21.890,0:11:26.470 It’s interesting to think about which crest[br]moveset might make certain bosses or enemies 0:11:26.470,0:11:28.260 easier to deal with. 0:11:28.260,0:11:32.990 Getting back to this shot in the trailer,[br]Hornet has some kind of orange jar that we 0:11:32.990,0:11:34.950 never get to see in action. 0:11:34.950,0:11:39.230 She also has the tri pins equipped, which[br]we do see her use later in the trailer. 0:11:39.230,0:11:43.040 There’s also a different looking cap on[br]the end of the silk meter. 0:11:43.040,0:11:46.530 We get a better look at this from one of the[br]pictures uploaded to Xbox. 0:11:46.530,0:11:50.370 It appears to be something that increases[br]how much silk you can hold. 0:11:50.370,0:11:53.870 I’m fairly certain this is some kind of[br]tool upgrade. 0:11:53.870,0:11:58.350 Believe it or not, but there’s one more[br]detail we need to address in this shot. 0:11:58.350,0:12:02.380 There appears to be some figure watching Hornet[br]from the background. 0:12:02.380,0:12:07.420 This being appears to be one of the vault[br]keepers mentioned in a Team Cherry blog post. 0:12:07.420,0:12:11.380 So these bugs seem to be keeping an eye out[br]for any potential looters who might stumble 0:12:11.380,0:12:12.930 upon their secret. 0:12:12.930,0:12:18.640 The next shot shows Hornet fighting an enemy[br]in what appears to be some windswept desert. 0:12:18.640,0:12:23.441 This area is really interesting looking, perhaps[br]located on the outskirts of Pharloom, close 0:12:23.441,0:12:25.170 to the outside world. 0:12:25.170,0:12:29.930 The tool she has equipped will be used later[br]in the trailer, so hold tight on that. 0:12:29.930,0:12:34.510 This next shot shows Hornet using some kind[br]of silk consuming skill to dash through these 0:12:34.510,0:12:37.770 freaky enemies that kinda look like baby Bell[br]Beasts. 0:12:37.770,0:12:42.690 I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I[br]believe that this shot takes place not far 0:12:42.690,0:12:46.390 off from where the last shot was, but I could[br]be completely wrong. 0:12:46.390,0:12:51.870 Next, Hornet uses a drill tool to turn into[br]a blunt and attack this guy. 0:12:51.870,0:12:54.610 She then throws a Pimpillo at this other enemy. 0:12:54.610,0:13:00.540 The Pimpillo was actually in the reveal trailer[br]as well, and… it looks a little bit wonky 0:13:00.540,0:13:01.590 now. 0:13:01.590,0:13:05.490 This next shot appears to take place in a[br]tower we’ve seen a few times in the reveal 0:13:05.490,0:13:07.660 trailer and screenshots. 0:13:07.660,0:13:13.040 There’s speculation that this might be the[br]“Soaring Warlord’s Tower” in Greymoor 0:13:13.040,0:13:15.930 mentioned in a Team Cherry blog post. 0:13:15.930,0:13:21.400 Hornet uses another attack against this big[br]eyed monster, which might be either a Crawbug 0:13:21.400,0:13:26.600 or a Dustroach, two more creatures mentioned[br]in a Team Cherry blog post. 0:13:26.600,0:13:31.290 I think they are supposed to be Crawbugs,[br]since they are said to be nesting type bugs 0:13:31.290,0:13:34.200 that live in dilapidated towers. 0:13:34.200,0:13:37.830 And I mean, look at this thing, the buck teeth. 0:13:37.830,0:13:39.560 The disgusting tail. 0:13:39.560,0:13:46.270 It’s very clearly supposed to look like[br]a filthy, disgusting, bubonic plague infested 0:13:46.270,0:13:48.170 James Corden. 0:13:48.170,0:13:53.520 Once Hornet kills this monster with what appears[br]to be a nail art, or I guess, needle art, 0:13:53.520,0:13:57.490 a small icon appears in the bottom corner[br]of the screen. 0:13:57.490,0:14:02.090 The two best guesses for what this is are[br]either for completing a quest, or unlocking 0:14:02.090,0:14:05.030 an entry in this game’s version of the Hunter’s[br]journal. 0:14:05.030,0:14:09.900 It’s speculated that the Huntress is this[br]game’s Hunter equivalent, but this icon 0:14:09.900,0:14:11.730 doesn’t really look like her. 0:14:11.730,0:14:14.010 So I’m guessing this is for a quest. 0:14:14.010,0:14:19.510 And if Crawlbugs are nesters, it would make[br]sense for there to be a quest to go kill one. 0:14:19.510,0:14:23.530 Next we see Hornet fighting an ant enemy we[br]saw in the earlier trailer. 0:14:23.530,0:14:26.260 She also throws some caltrops at it. 0:14:26.260,0:14:27.940 Nothing much else to say about this one. 0:14:27.940,0:14:30.340 I wish we got more ants in this trailer. 0:14:30.340,0:14:32.960 I wanna see the ants. 0:14:32.960,0:14:36.180 Next is a scene in a swamp area located somewhere[br]in Greymoor. 0:14:36.180,0:14:40.900 We’ve seen this place before in the Edge[br]magazine interview, but an interesting detail 0:14:40.900,0:14:44.510 here is the flower petals floating down from[br]above. 0:14:44.510,0:14:49.330 This implies to me that this area might be[br]located directly under the area we saw earlier 0:14:49.330,0:14:50.690 in the trailer. 0:14:50.690,0:14:54.660 We know that there are tangled roots above,[br]which might explain these large root looking 0:14:54.660,0:14:56.830 things sticking out of the ceiling. 0:14:56.830,0:14:58.750 Hornet also uses her spike tool as a weapon. 0:14:58.750,0:15:02.050 And the enemy is kind enough to fly right[br]into it. 0:15:02.050,0:15:03.260 How nice. 0:15:03.260,0:15:07.130 Hornet also has a tool that looks similar[br]to the weapon the enemy is using, which we 0:15:07.130,0:15:10.930 see her throw like a javelin in the Edge magazine[br]interview. 0:15:10.930,0:15:15.220 The next scene takes place in one of the Deep[br]Docks rooms we already saw in the Silksong 0:15:15.220,0:15:16.300 demo. 0:15:16.300,0:15:19.480 But Team Cherry made a huge change. 0:15:19.480,0:15:20.480 See? 0:15:20.480,0:15:23.020 Yeah, it’s pretty blatant right? 0:15:23.020,0:15:26.610 There’s now a heat wave distortion effect[br]being applied. 0:15:26.610,0:15:30.870 The next shot shows Hornet fighting against[br]some burrowing bug creature carrying some 0:15:30.870,0:15:32.620 sort of pitchfork. 0:15:32.620,0:15:38.240 The enemy looks pretty fun to fight, but what[br]interests me more here is the location itself. 0:15:38.240,0:15:42.490 This is probably another part of Greymoor,[br]since Team Cherry said it’s the largest 0:15:42.490,0:15:44.080 area in the whole game. 0:15:44.080,0:15:48.310 The area is full of these strange objects[br]sticking out of the ground. 0:15:48.310,0:15:53.940 I think the only other time we see a similar[br]design is an enemy in the tower area who is 0:15:53.940,0:15:55.910 partway offscreen. 0:15:55.910,0:16:00.170 So I think this area is probably somewhere[br]near this warlord tower. 0:16:00.170,0:16:03.440 These objects also seem to be collecting silk. 0:16:03.440,0:16:07.120 It seems like all of Pharloom is covered in[br]this silk. 0:16:07.120,0:16:08.770 Enemies shed it when they get hit. 0:16:08.770,0:16:12.650 Hornet seems to be encompassed by it when[br]she enters Pharloom for the first time, and 0:16:12.650,0:16:15.390 now we see it collecting in these things. 0:16:15.390,0:16:20.490 We can see a giant windmill in the background,[br]which could indicate that this area is windy. 0:16:20.490,0:16:25.420 So perhaps there’s silk in the air that[br]these bugs are collecting using these tools 0:16:25.420,0:16:27.910 and then using that silk to do…. 0:16:27.910,0:16:29.160 Something. 0:16:29.160,0:16:33.760 It seems these bugs are aware of the silk’s[br]apparent power, especially considering they 0:16:33.760,0:16:37.300 walk around with slightly oversized scissors. 0:16:37.300,0:16:42.110 The next shot in the trailer is a sequence[br]where Hornet has to escape from rising lava, 0:16:42.110,0:16:45.040 while these freaks with messed up teeth spit[br]at her. 0:16:45.040,0:16:48.000 Like seriously, I hate to even look at these[br]things. 0:16:48.000,0:16:49.260 what are they, (expletive)? 0:16:49.260,0:16:54.900 It looks like Silksong will have a lot more[br]of these scripted platforming sections. 0:16:54.900,0:16:57.090 Which is definitely exciting to see. 0:16:57.090,0:17:01.260 Hollow Knight’s platforming doesn’t really[br]get pushed much outside of the White Palace, 0:17:01.260,0:17:06.230 so it’s nice to see these platforming challenges[br]more integrated into the entire world. 0:17:06.230,0:17:11.509 Also, these shells all over the walls remind[br]me of the Masks found in the Holy Grounds, 0:17:11.509,0:17:17.459 an area planned in Hollow Knight for the Forest[br]of Bones, but was ultimately cut. 0:17:17.459,0:17:19.069 Next we see Hornet take the elevator… 0:17:19.069,0:17:20.069 down! 0:17:20.069,0:17:24.370 Can we just take a second to appreciate how[br]awesome this is. 0:17:24.370,0:17:29.379 The next shot shows Hornet stabbing somebody[br]laying on a platform with a cloth over their 0:17:29.379,0:17:30.379 face. 0:17:30.379,0:17:34.200 This might be similar to how the Knight destroys[br]the Dreamers in Hollow Knight. 0:17:34.200,0:17:38.500 It gives very similar vibes, especially with[br]all the candles. 0:17:38.500,0:17:43.059 This room is probably located at the top of[br]the tower area, and I’m guessing this character 0:17:43.059,0:17:47.950 is being haunted by silk in some way, and[br]Hornet is here to release them. 0:17:47.950,0:17:51.450 Or, you know, murder them in their sleep. 0:17:51.450,0:17:56.330 When the screen flashes white, we do see what[br]appears to be some kind of face. 0:17:56.330,0:17:59.259 At the very least, we can make out a pair[br]of eyes. 0:17:59.259,0:18:01.779 Is this supposed to look like a crest? 0:18:01.779,0:18:03.870 Is this how she unlocks them? 0:18:03.870,0:18:05.380 Stabbing people in the head? 0:18:05.380,0:18:09.420 The next shot features our good old friends[br]Garmond and Zaza! 0:18:09.420,0:18:13.330 They appear to be helping Hornet on a quest[br]to defeat some wild beast. 0:18:13.330,0:18:17.880 We’ve seen this creature before in screenshots[br]and I always thought those white dots were 0:18:17.880,0:18:21.480 supposed to be its eyes, but now I see they[br]are fangs. 0:18:21.480,0:18:24.990 I can’t be the only one who thought this,[br]right? 0:18:24.990,0:18:27.679 Anyway, Hornet has some kind of boomerang[br]tool. 0:18:27.679,0:18:30.150 But unfortunately, she never uses it. 0:18:30.150,0:18:34.700 We’re getting to the end of the trailer[br]now, and Team Cherry is just gonna keep throwing 0:18:34.700,0:18:36.149 bosses at us. 0:18:36.149,0:18:39.039 We finally get a better look at the Last Judge. 0:18:39.039,0:18:42.220 He carries what I think is supposed to be[br]a censer. 0:18:42.220,0:18:45.909 Censers are little incense burners that are[br]usually tied to chains. 0:18:45.909,0:18:50.830 They are used a lot in Catholic ceremonies,[br]and we can even see them being used as such 0:18:50.830,0:18:52.480 in the background of this scene. 0:18:52.480,0:18:57.549 It also might be intentionally designed to[br]look like a bell, since that’s kinda a big 0:18:57.549,0:18:58.869 motif in this game. 0:18:58.869,0:19:02.940 There’s also another screenshot of the Last[br]Judge throwing his censer like a ball and 0:19:02.940,0:19:03.940 chain. 0:19:03.940,0:19:08.519 We also have some footage of this from a tweet[br]Xbox sent out after the trailer dropped. 0:19:08.519,0:19:12.580 As for who this guy is and how he’s connected[br]to Pharloom, he could be in charge of the 0:19:12.580,0:19:14.900 prison we saw back in 2020. 0:19:14.900,0:19:19.240 We’ve seen one other enemy who might be[br]related to the Last Judge. 0:19:19.240,0:19:23.980 Perhaps these are officers looking for criminals[br]to be arrested and judged. 0:19:23.980,0:19:29.899 Getting back to this shot, Hornet throws what[br]is most likely a bugle chip at the Last Judge, 0:19:29.899,0:19:32.080 which then bounces around off the walls. 0:19:32.080,0:19:37.279 Funnily enough, the next shot shows us where[br]this tool probably came from. 0:19:37.279,0:19:40.830 These two enemies are wearing giant bugles[br]on their heads. 0:19:40.830,0:19:44.279 I’m happy to see another boss fight with[br]multiple enemies. 0:19:44.279,0:19:46.260 They’re such a fun challenge. 0:19:46.260,0:19:50.799 I’m not exactly sure where this is, but[br]we can see some kind of stone structure in 0:19:50.799,0:19:53.600 the background and some sand as well. 0:19:53.600,0:19:57.269 So maybe it’s near that sandy area we saw[br]before? 0:19:57.269,0:20:02.240 On the other hand, these guys kinda remind[br]me of shellfish, so it might be closer to 0:20:02.240,0:20:05.350 that pier area we saw in the reveal trailer. 0:20:05.350,0:20:09.289 The next shot appears to take place in the[br]crypt-like area we saw earlier. 0:20:09.289,0:20:14.940 A strangely humanoid monster covered in leaves[br]and grass attacks Hornet from above. 0:20:14.940,0:20:18.960 This is probably the most striking thing in[br]the entire trailer. 0:20:18.960,0:20:23.370 Maybe even a bit out of place with how human-like[br]it is? 0:20:23.370,0:20:28.100 Then again, I think this enemy is supposed[br]to be unsettling in a certain way, so maybe 0:20:28.100,0:20:29.799 that’s intentional. 0:20:29.799,0:20:36.049 The next shot shows Hornet fighting against[br]this chef and ON MY GOD HIS ASS IS HUMONGOUS! 0:20:36.049,0:20:40.679 He literally swings his gigantic ass at Hornet[br]as an attack. 0:20:40.679,0:20:43.320 Is this what’s been delaying Silksong so[br]long? 0:20:43.320,0:20:45.669 Getting the ass attack right? 0:20:45.669,0:20:50.580 Did Ari Gibson see one too many inflated Hornet[br]images and just snap?! 0:20:50.580,0:20:56.840 Anyway, this character, referred to lovingly[br]by the Hollow Knight community as Ass Jim 0:20:56.840,0:21:00.039 appears to be located somewhere in the tower[br]area. 0:21:00.039,0:21:02.879 So keep your eyes peeled when you get to that[br]part. 0:21:02.879,0:21:08.249 In these last few shots, we see Hornet go[br]up against an enemy we saw in the first trailer. 0:21:08.249,0:21:11.980 But unfortunately we can’t see their ass[br]at all. 0:21:11.980,0:21:14.120 Then we see Hornet fighting Lace. 0:21:14.120,0:21:17.840 If you want to see her ass, I’m sure you[br]can find it online somewhere. 0:21:17.840,0:21:22.940 And the final shot of the trailer shows our[br]good friends, Garmond and Zaza. 0:21:22.940,0:21:24.830 How nice. 0:21:24.830,0:21:29.159 And that’s it for the trailer, there are[br]still a few screenshots I haven’t mentioned, 0:21:29.159,0:21:35.130 but there’s nothing new in them, so I wouldn’t[br]bother studying them too closely. 0:21:35.130,0:21:37.160 And that’s all the new stuff we got from[br]the Xbox Event. 0:21:37.160,0:21:38.160 So allow me to share my scatterbrained thoughts. 0:21:38.160,0:21:39.160 I’m really excited to fight these bosses! 0:21:39.160,0:21:40.160 Outside of the lore, the boss fights are probably[br]my favorite part of Hollow Knight. 0:21:40.160,0:21:41.160 We’re actually up to about fifteen revealed[br]bosses for Silksong already. 0:21:41.160,0:21:42.160 Moss Mother, Bell Beast, Trobbio, Scarface,[br]Lace, Camelita, Seth, Sharpe and his buddies, 0:21:42.160,0:21:43.160 Last Judge, Golem thing, Two members from[br]the band Devo, Hideous Vine Hag, American 0:21:43.160,0:21:44.160 guy, Wears a skull on his head guy, and the[br]Scholarly Suite. 0:21:44.160,0:21:45.160 And I’m hoping there’s plenty more bosses[br]we haven’t seen yet. 0:21:45.160,0:21:46.160 And obviously, the areas look incredible. 0:21:46.160,0:21:47.160 You have no idea how badly I want to play[br]through that clocktower level. 0:21:47.160,0:21:48.160 Seriously, it’s killing me. 0:21:48.160,0:21:49.160 That said, one criticism I’ve seen of Hollow[br]Knight is how samey some areas look. 0:21:49.160,0:21:50.160 And Silksong kinda falls into that same category. 0:21:50.160,0:21:51.160 It’s hard to know what areas I’m even[br]looking at when I do these analyses. 0:21:51.160,0:21:52.160 But that more muted palette is a deliberate[br]choice from Team Cherry, and I do think it 0:21:52.160,0:21:53.160 helps keep the world feeling more grounded. 0:21:53.160,0:21:54.160 But I will be curious to see what more casual[br]people have to say once the game launches. 0:21:54.160,0:21:55.160 I think the biggest improvement here over[br]Hollow Knight has to be the platforming. 0:21:55.160,0:21:56.160 It looks so fun and engaging. 0:21:56.160,0:21:57.160 As much as I love Hollow Knight, its platforming[br]is a bit limited, mainly due to so much of 0:21:57.160,0:21:58.160 the world being accessible with very few movement[br]options. 0:21:58.160,0:21:59.160 Hornet is more agile out the gate, so Team[br]Cherry should be able to push the envelope 0:21:59.160,0:22:00.160 a lot more in that regard. 0:22:00.160,0:22:01.160 So much of the lore is still shrouded in mystery. 0:22:01.160,0:22:02.160 I feel like this time around we got to see[br]a much better look at how silk is really screwing 0:22:02.160,0:22:03.160 things up in Pharloom. 0:22:03.160,0:22:04.160 It’s getting everywhere, it seems to be[br]what’s responsible for whatever is plaguing 0:22:04.160,0:22:05.160 this bug. 0:22:05.160,0:22:06.160 So that’s nice, but we didn’t really learn[br]anything more about the song aspect of Silksong. 0:22:06.160,0:22:07.160 And we still don’t really know what’s[br]going on with these white flowers and bugs. 0:22:07.160,0:22:08.160 So looks like there’s still plenty of lore[br]to uncover about this game. 0:22:08.160,0:22:09.160 I haven’t mentioned the music in the trailer[br]at all. 0:22:09.160,0:22:10.160 And that’s because you should know by now[br]that the music is just fantastic as always. 0:22:10.160,0:22:11.160 It sounds like a frantic battle theme, maybe[br]a generic boss encounter song. 0:22:11.160,0:22:12.160 I honestly have no idea, so we’ll have to[br]just wait and see. 0:22:12.160,0:22:13.160 All that said, 0:22:13.160,0:22:14.160 The real takeaway from this trailer doesn’t[br]really come from analyzing all the little 0:22:14.160,0:22:15.160 details. 0:22:15.160,0:22:16.160 I mean, that stuff’s great and all, but[br]I think the best part about this trailer really 0:22:16.160,0:22:17.160 just comes from watching Silksong in action.
