9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 ♪ [music] ♪ 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 - [Tyler] Now what are [br]the key macro ideas? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 We're still on like two words[br]so the biggie here, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 "prosperity matters." 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Sounds trivial, but a lot [br]of people actually deny it, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 though I'm not sure [br]they really mean what they're saying. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 They'll say something like, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 "Oh, you know, life was much better[br]back in 1910," or back whenever. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 But I think there's a lot [br]of evidence from economics. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 It can't tell you ethically [br]that a wealthier country 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 is better than a poorer country, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 but it can tell you that most [br]of the things people want, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 they get more of it[br]in wealthier countries. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And I don't just mean money --[br]if you look at health, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 infant mortality, the ability [br]to choose a career you want, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 women's rights, minority rights,[br]political liberty, democracy, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 civil liberties...[br]air conditioning!
