Se llama Amara, y es un sistema de subtitulación

que le permite a voluntarios de todo el mundo-

en cualquier parte del mundo- traducir videos en tiempo real.

Nadie de nosotros habla todos los idiomas

pero Amara nos puede brindar acceso a millones de videos

en una variedad de idiomas.

Pensemos en esto como un tipo de Wikipedia para la subtitulación.

So, for example, in Japan after the tsunami,

volunteers translated a documentary about Chernobyl

that was viewed 500,000 times in Japan during the crisis

During the Arab Spring, organizations like Al Jazeera used Amara

to enable the translation of videos into English, into Italian

which were viewed all around the world.

Amara is growing very quickly

and organizations like TED and the PBS Newshour

are incorporating it into their programs

We hope and believe that it will prove truly useful.
