Virtua Gamer >>Rafael Fernandes: Super Monaco GP is a classic racing game that was released in the year of 1989 for arcades, and was ported to many consoles and personal computers of the time. Of them all, the Mega Drive was the system that received the best version. Despite the reduced graphics as compared to the original, the gameplay was maintained, and new game modes were added, like the World Championship, based on the 1989 Formula 1 season. For these and other reasons, Super Monaco GP is still remembered to this day, and you can check out a lot more about this game in my review, here on my channel! [Cash register sound] But have you ever stopped to wonder who is this illustrious lady in a bathing suit on the main screen? ♪ [Romantic music] Yes, this sensual blonde, with this voluptuous body and this hair blowing in the wind. Looks more like a shampoo commercial, right? Probably she was a beautiful model hired by Sega to pose for the photo and be immortalized in the title screen of the game. And to never again have any news of her whereabouts to this date. Not really. This is a model that appeared naked in Playboy during the 1970s, called Mercy Rooney. Some pervert designer at Sega took this photo of the magazine, copied everything, disguised it to not get too obvious and done. There is the woman of Super Monaco GP. To prove it's not my imagination, take a look at the two images side by side; look at the hair, how it is identical! And to confirm, she was not the only copy in it! In the arcade version, this screen appears when you can not complete the qualifying race, part of the practice. So, this is Claire Rambeau, another model that appeared naked in the magazine in the 1970s, and here she is a little more tanned, to disguise it too, right? Well, it seems that someone at Sega was an avid reader of the magazine, eh? >>Luiz Felipe Scolari: Hottie! Ha ha ha! >>Rafael Fernandes: So, now you know: this discovery is another example that Sega in the 1980s was crazy, and loved to take drawings and pictures of films, comic books, and et cetera, and put them in the games without the slightest shame or fear of being sued. I'll talk more about them here soon. Meanwhile, I'm sure of one thing: you will never see the title screen of Super Monaco GP with the same eyes… Produced by Rafael Fernandes @rafafernandes64 facebook.com/virtuagamer ♪ [Rad Mobile Original Soundtrack: Name Entry]
