>> So I work here on campus as well as a waitressing job in the community and a babysitter so, as you can tell, my schedule is very busy. >> I never was a crane operator but I was a heavy-lift operator, a basic lift. I worked in the dock, you know on the dock and in the ship hole. I worked in the warehouses and stuff like that for 15 years. That job came to a dead-end and that's why I came back to college. >> So I work at the tutoring center that we have on Columbia College as a tutor. Usually, like I tutor the whole day or just segments in between classes. >> My schedule is definitely busy between work and school, whether -- if I'm not at work, I'm in class. And if I'm not in class, I'm at work so throughout my day; work, school, work, school. I work 20 hours and then I'm also, I have five classes. >> I actually work two jobs. One is here at Columbia College where I work as a tutor in our academic achievement center. My other job is at a local camp where I work outside running things like zip-line and our archery course and I also work in the kitchen. And that job is mostly weekends. >> When I manage my finances, the first thing I do is I set forth just my [inaudible] necessities; utilities, house payments, what I think I'm going to spend on food and then I have a little bit just stored away for personal stuff. >> I, myself, don't have a specific process I use for money. I just try to watch what I spend and not spend too much on things I don't really need. >> Oh, it's very important to manage your money. You know, don't get too happy when you get some money because you'll find out you'll mismanage it. So you've got to have the principles of what do you need to do every month? Take care of your needs and maybe you can deal with some wants but the needs are the most important things. You've got bills to pay. You've got books to buy for your college education. >> Managing my finances has kind of been a thing that I've always been really good at with saving my money, building my credit, having a savings account for if things were say to happen, having a calendar and writing out what bill is due when, when I should use my credit card or anything like that. >> For me, money management is about tracking what you spend and trying to stick to a monthly budget.
