If you thought we'd seen
the peak of Bieber Fever,
get ready for the epidemic's
new strain, la Fiebre de Bieber.
And the source?
Latin heart throb Luis Fonsi and Reggaeton
King Daddy Yankee's "Despacito (Remix)"
featuring Justin Bieber
swooning us all in Spanish.
The YouTube song premiere racked up
over 20 million views in the first 24 hours
of its release, making it 2017's biggest
YouTube music video debut so far.
The original "Despacito" was already
a huge success on Billboard's Latin charts,
currently spending its 12th week
at #1 for Hot Latin Songs.
And now, the remix, released on April 16th,
has given Bieber his 12th Hot 100 Top 10 hit
& the first for both Luis Fonsi
and Daddy Yankee.
As a matter of fact, and music history,
this is the first mostly Spanish track
to hit Billboard's Hot 100 Top 10
since "Macarena" in 1996.
"Hey, Macarena!"
The "Despacito (Remix)" song page is currently
No. 3 on Genius' Top Songs Chart for the week.
And while we're all singing along
to Bieber's spanish serenades,
do you know what the heck
he's actually saying?
If you don't, you're in luckā¦
it's time to translate!
Ok y'all ready?
Translation:
"Slowly, I wanna slowly
breathe on your neck."
"Let me whisper in your ear,
so you remember when you aren't with me."
"Slowly, I want to undress you
with kisses, slowly."
"Sign the walls of your labyrinth
and make your body a manuscript"
Ooohhh,
there's more
"Step by step, slow slowly
We get closer, little by little"
"When you kiss me with those skills
I see you're naughty with your delicacy."
It's been a little over a week since
the "Despacito (Remix)" dropped,
and it's already Spotify's first
spanish-language song to reach no. 1
globally plus digital sales for "Despacito"
have soared 510 percent to 60,000,
previously peaking at No.48 and now re-entering
at No. 8 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart.
Yep, no one's safe from
la Fiebre de Bieber this time around.
