First of all, all Baldi's Basics games belong to Basically Games. This video was created for entertainment and informational purposes.
I also have to give a SPOILER warning for absolutely everything, so I recommend you play it first or watch it at your own risk.
Along with a warning of loud sounds and flashing images that may cause a risk of epilepsy.
This is my first video and project, so I'm new to these things, so if there are any mistakes, I apologize, but constructive criticism is welcome.
I won't be using Loquendo (for the most part), it will be my real voice, I'm not used to speaking in general and I have speech problems, but I hope you can at least understand what I'm talking about...
Oh! And of course, CRINGE WARNING! I'm putting it here just in case, Loquendo is very serious about this kind of thing.
Without further ado, I hope you enjoy it!
AAAH, yes
Baldi’s Basics
that educational game that looks very cheap and ugly and with questionable learning methods.
Today I'm going to talk to you about this game, from somewhat useless facts to things that will make you say
W O W
I present to you...
The ultimate Baldi's Basics iceberg.
I'M CLARIFYING, THERE ARE SPOILERS FOR ALL THE GAMES
YOU'RE WARNED.
Anyway, I recommend you try the game.
It's free on itch.io and Steam, and it's fun after all.
Without further ado, let's begin.
[LEVEL 1]
[Game Jam]
It's a contest where you're given a certain amount of time to make a game with a certain theme
but generally it's not that much time. It all starts with The Meta Game Jam 2018
where the theme is to create a game about games, that is, it can either break the fourth wall or make reference to other games
Oh! And guess who took first place
Yeah...
Farfalle
Farfalle OS?
which is… a simulator where you talk to a developer about making a game?
And then it breaks the fourth wall and stuff…
Well, Baldi’s Basics took second place.
-Mystman12-
Also known as Micah James McGonigal (The goat)
creator of Baldi's Basics and founder of Basically, Games!
who has a quirky sense of humor
(XD)
has been developing games for quite some time and it took him two hours to beat his own game.
[Baldi’s Basics Classic]
Also known as Baldi’s Basics in Education and Learning
it was first released on itchi.io on March 31, 2018.
Although there was a "demo" version on Game Jolt released on March 27 of the same year
not much has changed from the previous version.
This game had only nine characters, eleven elements, and a single subject.
Its premise was to be a game that isn't what it appears to be
inspired by old educational video games with touches of comedy and parody.
[The Impossible Question]
It is the third question that appears on You Can Think Pad
which is three advanced math problems superimposed on top of each other.
It is currently programmed to have no solution and always mark any answer incorrectly
except for the codes.
[99 Game over]
There is a 1 in 99 chance
In other words (1.01%)
that a small orange rectangle with the number “99”
cut out to look like two pair of eyes.
then loud, distorted sounds will play and the game will crash seconds later.
[Secret Chalkboard]
There's a hidden chalkboard that says "THIS PROGRAM IS CANCER" with multiple "99s" around it
This can be found in the classic version and Birthday Bash.
[Secret Endings]
There are three secret endings in total
all of which feature NULL
(or previously known as Filename2)
He is a corrupt and secret character within the game, the following endings can be unlocked with these steps
all of which have in common that they suddenly close the game
1. -Answering all the questions wrong-
this apart from making the game more difficult than it is
instead of finishing the game an image of Baldi appears suggesting a margin for improvement in his office
upon entering his office you will see a stretched Baldi and NULL
he begins with his typical monologue of destroying the game before something bad happens.
2. -In Birthday Bash-
you have to use a teleporter which can only be obtained through vending machines with a low probability
This is used to get to the Principal's office
where he'll be. It says basically the same thing, but with disappointment
Although, in the remastered version, you do the same thing
except the Baldloon is destroying the school
NULL will yell at you and scold you for what you did.
3. -In the remastered version-
it's found in Baldi's basement. The way to get it is:
-Play the demo mode-
you must first collect the seven notebooks, after this additional questions will begin to appear on the machines
when the last additional question is answered the machine gives you a portal
more specifically next to a poster about scissors
this will open a small room that leads to some stairs
Once we enter the basement we go to the shrink machine room
after a while NULL appears, who begins to insinuate that we continue playing to discover the "lore"
he mocks us, and already fed up with life he tells us the typical, and then force the game to close.
[The player's friend]
We're mentioned in the instructions
saying that our friend forgot his notebooks and we volunteered to pick them up
Not much is known, and he hasn't been mentioned again
all I can gather is that he has a terrible memory.
[Dr. Sbaitso]
Is an artificial intelligence speech synthesis program released in late 1991
for MS-DOS-based personal computers
This is the voice 1st Prize uses; the parameters for its voice are...
Eeerm...
I'd better leave a video in the description that explains it better.
[Birthday Bash]
It was released to celebrate the game's first anniversary on April 1, 2019
It's basically the same as the base game, but includes party hats, streamers, gifts, and other birthday party goodies
With an ending where you end up in the school with multiple glitches and you have to solve a puzzle that ends with it being destroyed.
[Baldi's age]
He's 29
Want to know more unnecessary facts?
His last name is Baldimore
his birthday is June 3rd, and his favorite color is green.
[Placeface]
It frequently appears as an Easter egg, it is like the bully's head but less deformed
His appearances include the Test Room, the glitched school, obstacles in NULL mode
and off-map behind some doors in the Field Trip: Camping demo.
If the hacks are activated, he'll be seen wandering around randomly
and if he sees the player, he'll chase them until they're out of sight.
[Field Trip Demo]
It's a demo for excursions that was going to be included in the kickstarted version
but it was permanently removed from itchio.io because it's a version that wasn't going to be in the final version
Here you have to collect firewood to keep the fire going, but while you're going to get the sticks
Cloudy Copter drains the campfire's life
Or the bully shows up to steal your sticks.
Once the flame is extinguished, Baldi comes to hit you with a ruler.
However, in the Plus version, specifically 0.3
there's a minigame where you have to solve the addition and subtraction problems that come with the firewood
using the indicated number that appears on the campfire
After a while, four pieces of firewood will appear
If the number is incorrect, you lose a star
This version has been removed.
It returned in 0.7 with two minigames, one called Campfire Frenzy
where you control 1st Prize to place items that keep the campfire going
and avoid items that extinguish it
It gets faster each time, though it slows down every so often, but it'll still get faster.
The other is called Pick-Quick-Nic
Baldi is...
very
H̷̨̼̬͔̦̤̣́͒̃͆͆̓̆́̂̐ ̶̡̝̻̜͉̲̹̖̻̊̉̀̉͊̎ͅU̵̘͕̰͌̂͐̑͘ ̸̡̧̝̙̿͗̽͛Ņ̵̙͔̞̰̪̎͒̇̀́͜ͅ ̵̡̨̳̠͍̙̄͐̍͋̿̕͘͘͝͝ͅG̷͚͂͗̈́̀̂̍͠ ̴̬͚͔̱͖̳͛͋̋̇̌͋͐̾̈R̴̡̦̯͍͖͔̳̘̭̦̍͒͐͋̂̋̑̔̽͝ ̶̟̣̺̮͎̺̄Y̷̨̨̗̦͖̞̠̫̯̾́͆͘̚ͅ
the idea here is to pick a food that Baldi doesn't think of
or else he'll get sad
He progresses faster and faster and the objects become more confusing
Sometimes bombs planted by the bully will appear that you have to remove quickly or else Baldi will explode when he swallows all the remaining food
If you perfectly complete these games, you will receive a ton of powerful objects.
[Secret Codes]
There are several secret codes you can set on the Can You Think Pad.
Which are:
Once you enter this code, it will display the message "THIS IS WHERE IT ALL BEGAN" and send you to the Test Room
where Placeface and green and orange textures with the text "Place the holder" are displayed
The number next to the message is a reference to the date when the game began it's development, which is March 17, 2018
“USE THESE TO STICK TO THE CEILING!”
Using this code makes everything appear upside down
using this in Birthday Bash you can find NULL as it teleports us to the low-
(struggles a lil' bit)
lower floor :D
"If Baldi's Basics really released in 1999!"
Activates Authentic Mode
I'll talk about this and other modes later; for now...
the number refers to the year Sonic's Schoolhouse was released
which is October 18, 1996.
“Time for some cool tunes!” B)
Teleports the player to the music room, as you might guess it is a room with the game’s soundtrack
here you can also slow down the music or speed it up
there are some exceptions where this does not work.

“EPILEPSY WARNING! HIGHLY UNSTABILITY!”
Activate Chaos mode.
“Click the question mark!”
It activates debug mode
but you have to unlock all three secret endings and also NULL mode
otherwise it won’t activate and you’ll get the message
“Find all the secrets first!”
[Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered]
Is a game that brings together recreations of the classic version
Birthday Bash and the demo of the plus version into one
with new mechanics such as the Baldicator or design changes
It was released on October 21, 2022
it was originally planned to be released on March 31, 2021
but was delayed several times due to reasons such as wanting to add more things and make it look like a finished game.
[Baldi's Basics Plus]
It is a game that is being updated regularly, being like the definitive Baldi's Basics game
it takes place in a large building called the Super Schoolhouse, it has an elevator
it will have 25 new characters in the future, including 10 returning characters
random maps, more subjects, events, field trips and more stuff
You can find it on Steam for $10. But in my case it costs 18,500 pesos... (COP)
and that's not even enough for me to exist :(
Cough cough same
[Farm Field Trip]
This is one of the game's excursions that is currently unavailable. In its first version
it featured a corn maze where you have to find a flag to complete the course
In version 0.3.2 to 0.3.8 it was a corn maze but 2D
with a barn in the corner, here we had to guide the animals according to their sound through the farm in a time limit
if we miss this limit or take the wrong animal we will lose a star and the farmer will scream.
[Unused content]
I'm going to talk about some things that were removed
other things will be talked about later because they cover more information.
This audio was removed because the randomly generated numbers would create impossible problems to solve
for example: 0 divided by 0
Before version 0.3
Baldi would say all the numbers at once and immediately start following you.
In the version 0.3, he'll count up to 10 normally.
"No eating food in the halls 🗣️"
The principal will give you detention if he sees you eating an Energy Bar
this was replaced with the dialogue of:
🗣️🔥🔥
In the version 1.3
[Mrs. Pomp's numbers 3-9]
It was originally intended that she would give you more time to go to her class.
[Dialogues to be confirmed from Johnny]
It could be used when trying to buy something you can't pay.
It could be used when purchasing an item, hovering over an item
or an unimplemented feature.
It could be used for that function without implementing a character's suspension.
[Logos]
Logos like Mystman12 and Meta Game Jam 2018 used to appear in the classic version.
Starting in version 1.4, they were removed.
There's also an MPTK logo in the Plus version
which was strangely modified in version 0.3.5.
[Numeric Sprites]
This was supposed to be used as an indicator of how many additional questions were solved
but it was moved to the math machine
It was also planned to be added as a stopwatch in the battle against NULL.
[You Can Think Pad Zoom]
When pausing the game or viewing an advanced map
a "You Can Think Pad" would appear, zooming in.
Currently, only the last frame is used with a transition effect.
[Zero power tubes]
There is an unused texture of the elevator without power tubes
because once we have lost the last tube it sends us back to the menu.
This is an image of Mystman12's avatar, used as a poster marker and temporarily as the broken window texture.
[Ventilation]
This is a structure that wasn't implemented in the full game's Early Demo.
The idea behind this was that the player was the only one who could pass through them; other NPCs couldn't
However, it was eventually added in 0.8 of the Plus version.
This screen was removed from party mode
I guess it was removed because it turned out to be too "basic".
[Why the other NPCs can't go to detention]
Well...
-Arts and Crafters-
-1st prize-
-Chalkles-
and -Gotta Sweep- (My fav char :P)
are not human (i mean is kinda obvious :P)
apart from the fact that the latter belongs to the school Staff therefore the teachers cannot be sent either
Playtime and Mrs. Pomp are jumping
Baldi is teleporting
The bully can't move at all, although they still send him for bullying.
I guess Beans is the exception and they turn a blind eye to him.
[Arts and Crafters slammed] (hehe)
In the KickStarter video, while Mystman is talking about the game
he suddenly throws Arts and Crafters into the air with his wooden ruler.
Tragic, isn't it?
[Unused footage from the KickStarter video]
Few will have noticed that there is a video uploaded about the content removed from the KickStarter on Mystman12's channel
well that's it, several scenes of him fooling around that were not used.
[The cursor]
The cursor displayed in the game is the same hand as the 1st prize.
And.. yeah that's it :/
[Inspirations and references]
I will relate several references and inspirations that are found within the games:
Its graphic style is very similar to the Baldi’s Basics games.
The Arts and Crafters squeak was created using a corrupted Donkey Kong Country 2 ROM.
The Chaos Mode code is a reference to the release date of Donkey Kong Country in the United States
In November 21, 1994.
The image of 99 comes from a corruption of Donkey Kong Country.
The bully's quote...
could be inspired by the pumpkin's line
Since this game is one of Mystman12's favorite memes he made it sound similar.
Johnny's unused voice line
It's a direct reference to Murshou when you don't have enough rupees to buy something
YES
THAT
M E M E
The same thing happens in Glitch mode with Baldloon but with random characters.
Mystman12's inspiration for the game looks even more miserable.
Wha-
What is this supposed to be?
H
H E
H E L
H E L P
The creator's username itself is inspired by this game.
-Mystman12-
The debug mode code is a reference to the US release date for macOS
On September 24, 1993
The screen transitions in the Plus and Remastered versions are based on the screen transitions in Myst.
Being a 3D game, they have the same similarity to camera movement
such as only looking to the sides without the possibility of looking up or down
and the design also makes it so that the player does not change elevation.
Some wall textures are reminiscent of the textures in Sonic's Schoolhouse.
The thank you GIF for 100,000 downloads is a direct reference
to the image of Sonic beating the level with all the answers correct.
The door textures are the same size.
The main texture of the Math Machine is inspired by the blackboard with a math problem.
Number balloons are similar to bouncing number objects.
The audio...
is rarely heard when entering the test room is a reference to an unused audio clip from the game.
Some textures and sprites are based on in-game sprites, such as ceiling lamps, or floor textures.
The title screen for Baldi’s Basics looks a lot like the boxart for Sonic’s SchoolHouse.
Baldi's voice may have been inspired by Waluigi's voice.
0th prize could have been inspired by Mario's outfit since they are similar
it is also possible that it comes from an animation error in the Mario series.
The procedurally generated levels in Baldi’s Basics are inspired by the same way the game generates levels.
Gifts work the same way they do in ToeJam & Earl, giving you a random item.
The Bsoda is a reference to the Windows Blue Screen of Death
BSoD
both as a name and a slogan.
The gravity chaos event and map in the plus version are likely inspired by the 3dMaze screen in Windows 95.
The fake error screen has a computer with the blue screen of death.
[Kirkland Signature Protein Bar]
The object... Energy Flavored Zesty Bar
is a saturated version of this bar.
[Libman Precision Angle Broom]
The previous Gotta Sweep design was a photo taken directly from this brand of broom
but the design was changed to avoid legal issues.
This item is directly inspired by this brand of oils.
The dialogue of...
from the bully, is a reference to the video "Preschool Bully"
It's possible that Playtime's appearance, more than just her hair and eyes
is inspired by PilotRedSun's art style.
The 0th prize design was meant to be a reference to PilotRedSun's style
but it didn't turn out the way I wanted, and that's why we have Gotta Sweep.
In Baldi's basement
Baldi appears with the death meme pose
this while NULL is talking
the achievement artist put this as a joke without expecting it to be used for real.
A Chalkboard reads
“Look! A Homestar Runner reference!”
A track called “Runner Star Home” that was used in the KickStarter is also a reference to the web series.
[The Amazing World of Gumball]
The Principal's whistle is a reference to Banana Joe's whistle.
🔥🔥🔥
Both media share the creation of characters in various styles, such as drawings and 3D.
Sussie was the inspiration for Arts and Crafters, when Mystman12 tried to edit an image of her in the dark from far away.
It was a big inspiration for the game. Especially in a clip that resembles an educational game
its humor is quite similar to what would become Baldi's Basics.
Several sound effects come from the Warner Bros sound library.
There would be the portal, nana' peel, all the excursion sounds
the sound of the balloons popping and the sound of the fog machine come from said library.
[Children's songs]
The Playtime song appears to be a combination of several songs made for children
such as...
"Ring a Ring o' Roses"
"A-Tisket, A-Tasket"
and "It's Raining, It's Pouring."
And the song is named after the second one I mentioned.
The song Playtime uses in Birthday Bash is loosely the Happy Birthday to You song.
The music track “99” appears to be a parody of
“Mary Had a Little Lamb”.
[The water fountain was destroyed]
And to finish the first level of the iceberg
we're going to talk about the fact that the place where they took the original photo of the water fountain has been demolished
so this model is all that remains of said fountain.
[LEVEL 2]
