But, I mean, when's the last time a friend 0:01:45.100,0:01:52.820 of yours was diagnosed with pellagra or beriberi, or some of these actual...or scurvy. These deficiency diseases. 0:01:52.820,0:02:01.110 Okay now, have you ever heard of anyone diagnosed with[br]the overnutrition symptom like heart disease or diabetes, 0:02:01.110,0:02:03.370 or high blood pressure, or...I mean 0:02:03.370,0:02:09.280 these are diseases of not under consumption - of over consumption. Cause overconsumption 0:02:09.280,0:02:15.730 of saturated fat and cholesterol, and sodium,[br]etc. So, but still the field of nutrition is in 0:02:15.730,0:02:21.300 this kind of deficiency mindset making sure everybody[br]gets enough. Whereas people are dying by the 0:02:21.300,0:02:28.269 millions, not...at least in the developed world.[br]Not by what they’re not getting enough of 0:02:28.269,0:02:30.539 but what they are getting way too much of. So, that's why... 0:02:30.539,0:02:37.870 ...there really needs to be this change in thinking.[br]The whole field of dietetics towards let's 0:02:37.870,0:02:43.340 make sure you're not getting enough. And there's[br]something we really, you know, are concerned about, I mean, 0:02:43.340,0:02:47.439 there are a few nutrients that ninety seven[br]percent of Americans don’t get enough of: 0:02:47.639,0:02:54.390 Fiber! 3% of Americans get enough fiber. 98%[br]of Americans don’t reach the minimum for 0:02:54.390,0:02:59.420 potassium right? Where is potassium found?[br]Greens, beans okay. So, I mean, 0:02:59.580,0:03:05.400 you want a deficiency disease? That’s what[br]you should be going after but most of the 0:03:05.400,0:03:09.440 diseases are caused by getting too much of[br]the bad stuff. And so, that's really where we 0:03:09.440,0:03:15.210 need to think. I mean, that's what people are going[br]to die of. Well, then okay you[br]can run into, you know, deficiencies.
