Sí, aqueste definició em representa bé.
Jo no hi havia legit pas sobre això de políglota. Vaig aprendre la paraula fa u o tres anys.
Oh sí, podria ésser jo.
Per cada idioma tinc diferents raons per aprender-ne, pot ser per visitar un pais o per coneixer persones d'aquest.
A vegades solament els estuido perquè estic interesat en la llengua mateixa.
Because every language has a different worldview, a different way of expressing things, different words for things that may or may not exist in another language.
It's fun if you take it with the right approach, but it requires an attitude, because you need to really challenge yourself everyday.
You need to go into this unknown world, like I'm not that smart,
and everybody around me is better than me and it requires some social skills.
There's no such thing as a language-learning gene in the sense that some people have it and some people don't.
Maintaining multiple languages is a life choice. It's not something you do. You don't learn languages and then say ok, so now what do I do.
You have to shape your life around your choices for languages.
♪ If you want language training that requires all your brain, simultaneous story listening is your call. ♪
♪ Or you can translate single words, especially the word for bird. ♪
♪ Just be sure your languages are languages at all. ♪
It is a unique thing that the web is really bringing people together in a way that nothing else has.
And for the polyglot community especially, it enables you to talk to people from countries you would never see.
We're all really passionate about languages, dare I say, nerdy. It feels really nice to share in that passion with people
and to feel that they understand you and your passion to know really specific words and how to express yourself in a new language.
It's fun to be here at the conference and to meet people whose names you recognize
because you saw them three years ago when they made a Memrise course and you said, "Oh hey!"
At least if the Gathering is not what I expected, at least I'll have Berlin.
And then I was very pleasantly surprised, I didn't see Berlin at all!
♪ So, keep learning when you leave this place, your own pace is the best pace. ♪
♪ And just face it, there is nowhere we can stay. ♪
♪ There is no hocus pocus, use a cooking clock to focus. Turn your mother and the Internet away. ♪
As a polyglot, you're actually giving an example to people out there who feel alone in a community
where nobody else around them likes languages to the same degree and wants to learn multiple languages.
We just created a facebook group and right now it has over 1000 people.
And the Gathering should add to the previous one and show a good example that this is a good activity and if you are timid, if you are afraid to join,
put aside your prejudices, even if you only speak 3, 4, 5 languages. Join in and strengthen the community of polyglots.
