Hello! RINA here.
Long time no see.
It's been a bit since I updated,
but thanks for your patience!
Today, since a certain something just arrived
and I want to show it to you guys,
I'm filming this video.
Let's get right to it.
I haven't properly unboxed it, though.
Ta-da!
Um...
I mentioned this in my previous video,
but on August 21st we celebrated our 17th anniversary,
and on that day we set the Guinness World Record
of the longest-running all-girl band.
It's a new record, so it's us who established it.
We're the longest-running all-girl band in the world with no member changes and no hiatuses.
It's amazing.
Shall I open it?
We had played a concert on August 21st, our anniversary.
Thank you to everyone who came to it!
We announced right before it that there'd be a livestream of it,
and thank you as well to those who watched it!
It made me happy - everyone's so busy, but they cared about us.
On that day...
We did put on a concert,
but the awards ceremony was the main part of this special event.
We did get this same plaque that day,
but each of us were able to also get one individually.
We got those in the other day.
They were delivered to our office, and from there I brought it home.
Where should I put it?
Where should this be displayed?
I'm still not sure.
Some of the other members had it sent to their parents' houses,
but HARUNA and I brought them home with us.
Are there reflections in it?
Here's what it looks like.
It's awesome.
It's impressive, isn't it?
Check it out.
How do I avoid showing reflections?
The details are written in English.
This is awesome.
I'm really happy.
On the day of...
I'll put this somewhere else.
Should I stand it up?
What should I do?
I don't know what's correct to do.
Is it okay here?
It's kind of hard to see, but oh well.
I want to put it a little closer.
I could also put it down here.
For now...
I'll put it in a safe spot.
Okay.
On the day of...
I went on stage not knowing at all how I was going to feel.
The event proceeded with everyone reflecting on the past
and talking about the present.
The moment we received the award,
the audience was crying,
and it brought back so many things.
I thought, "A lot of things have happened,
but the four of us didn't give up nor quit.
We've been working hard for such a long time."
I thought of how I'm so grateful
to our fans, my band mates, our staff,
and everyone close to us.
My heart was full.
I also talked about this back then,
that how we got this #1 spot was very much like us.
We may not be a band that has made any spectacular records or results,
but we never gave up and overcame many obstacles one day at a time,
and we were able to leave a record of what we had achieved.
We became the best, not because we beat anyone else,
but because of all the days we spent together.
That made me so happy and glad.
And...
It's been a month since then,
so within that time frame we've done many interviews and such.
We've had some opportunities to talk about what we're up to now,
but at any rate, what we're currently feeling is a bit of relief.
Like...
We had our sights set on achieving this record for a few years now.
It was like a dream—rather, one goal of ours.
We had been active for a long time,
so there was always a sense that we must not stop for anything,
and that we had to run through everything to get there.
We'd always been doing what we want to do, and it was fun.,
and I think it was a good pressure to feel like we were pushing ourselves,
but now that we're finally released
from the days of having a goal to achieve,
I feel a little relieved and liberated.
These past few years, aiming for that day was like the final goal we had.
So sometimes I wondered what we'd do if we burned out after that day,
or what we should do after that.
There were times I thought vaguely about that.
Even now, we don't have a clear idea of what we'll do next
or where we're heading towards.
But we're continuing to live our daily lives together,
writing new songs,
getting new songs ready.
One has already been released digitally.
Currently, we're thinking that every day will continue on like always,
with the four of us playing music together.
It'd be nice if we could find our next goal while we do this...
Well, even if we don't,
we hope to keep our minds and bodies healthy.
I really think we worked hard.
I'm very happy as a musician to have achieved this record,
but as a human being,
having done something that...
How should I put it?
Something I can really praise myself for
makes me very happy and grateful.
After the event, and the moment it hit midnight,
our new single "Highlight no Naka de Bokura Zutto" (We're Always in the Highlights)
was released on streaming sites.
I'm really glad that we decided to release it digitally
on this day, after the event was over.
By doing that, I thought to myself, "All right; we can keep going!"
It made me feel pumped up,
so I'm glad we did that.
It'll be out on CD in October.
There's a B-side song and a bonus video.
The video is about the four of us discussing our future together,
so if you'd like, please check it out.
I think this is also revealed in the title of the song,
but this song's music and lyrics were written by MAMI,
and this song expresses our past struggles
and our renewed determination to be on stage for as long as possible,
in a raw and honest way.
It's not often that we can play a song in such a way
that our feelings are released into the sound when we play it.
And when we talk about the song, we know exactly what to say about it.
Like...
After 17 years,
our feelings when we're on stage have changed a little bit at a time.
That's what we thought as we made the song.
You know...
When we first started out...
We were teenagers.
We didn't know a lot of things,
and there were a lot of things we'd never done,
so there wasn't much to be afraid of.
We were like, "Let's just go and create a stir."
That kind of momentum comes from being a kid.
Thinking about it now,
it's like we almost had nothing to burden us down.
Every year,
the feelings and thoughts that we put into each piece of work grow,
and we began to feel a sense of fragility in it.
It's like we're going up, laying down our lives little by little.
When the entrance music is playing and the four of us are huddled together,
listening to the cheers of the audience...
It's like we're giving it our all today and leaving ourselves there.
We've continued to be a band in our teens, 20s, and 30s,
and there's a goodness to each moment,
and a passion to each moment.
We've honed so many things.
As women, as musicians, and as human beings,
I feel that we're able to go out there and deliver our message in the flesh.
I think that might be the most important thing.
I personally really like the current SCANDAL.
I've always liked us, and thought we were cool.
I think we're awesome.
So...
I really hope that you'll enjoy this band together with us!
We're currently preparing and planning for our next tour,
hoping to create a good space and have some good times.
Our next tour is in October.
For this...
We'll be playing 3 shows at Zepp venues in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka.
We decided to go for only 3 shows.
This tour is celebrating the 15th anniversary of our debut.
We held a tour called "Kanshasai" (Giving Thanks) for the 10th anniversary of our debut.
We're the most surprised that that was 5 years ago,
and how fast time flies by.
When we wondered what to title this tour,
we had the idea to name it "Kanshasai vol.2."
There's a lot of courage, excitement, and determination there, too.
Hoping that we can continue to hold a "Kanshasai" tour every 5 years,
we decided to go with "Kanshasai vol.2" for the title.
I mean, next up would be during the 20th anniversary of our debut, right?
Supposing that we are able to do it.
That's crazy.
You've never seen an all-girl band do that before.
Really...
I don't know if it's okay to say this yet,
but we're currently making a new album.
When it's done, it'll be our 11th original album.
So...
Going back to what I said earlier...
We've achieved our big goal,
but we're still going to continue to create all kinds of fun things,
so I hope you'll keep watching us!
Hope you don't miss it all!
We'll be doing lots of things,
so please continue to look forward to them!
That's about it for today's video.
At any rate, I thought I'd share this news on YouTube as well
to let people know that we've set a world record!
I'll post info about our new song and other info in the description box,
so if you're interested, please check it out!
Thank you very much!
See you in my next video!
Bye bye!
