In the quiet misty morning When the moon has gone to bed When the sparrows stop their singing And the sky is clear and red When the summer's ceased its gleaming When the corn is past its prime When adventure's lost its meaning I'll be homeward bound in time Bind me not to the pasture Chain me not to the plow Set me free to find my calling And I'll return to you somehow If you find it's me you're missing If you're hoping I'll return To your thoughts I'll soon be listening And in the road I'll stop and turn When the wind will set me racing As my journey nears its end And the path I'll be retracing As I'm homeward bound again Bind me not to the pasture Chain me not to the plow Set me free to find my calling And I'll return to you somehow Bind me not to the pasture Chain me not to the plow Set me free to find my calling And I'll return to you somehow In the quiet misty morning When the moon has gone to bed When the sparrows stop their singing And the sky is clear and red When the summer's ceased its gleaming When the corn is past its prime When adventure's lost its meaning I'll be homeward bound in time Hey Hollensfamily This was one of the most special videos I have ever made It was such an incredible feeling to work with these amazing highschoolers And I kind of wanted to tell you where the song came from I... I had been looking for another folk song to do cause I'd been really, really wanting to And I came across this song, and I reached out to one of my best friends, Megan Purdue Who is a choir director up in Portland, Oregon And I was like: Hey, I'm thinking about doing a song called "Homeward Bound" Do you think your choir would wanna do it with me? And... The story she told me... There's some things in life where you just think that things were meant to happen And you can call it divine intervention or you can call it happenstance But there was a young, a young girl by the name of Io Korol Who had just passed away that week And this song was by far her favorite It was the song that she Would go around school singing And it kind of ended up being her choir's... song for the whole year... and... So when I reached out, I had no idea... But it ended up being a video that had so much more meaning Which is why this song and video is dedicated to her Megan, her choir director, said that she was the kind of girl who would go around the school Singing and not caring what people thought about her, and, you know I can't respect people like that enough You know, people that just don't care what people think about them and... You know she... she passed at a really young age, suddenly, and... That took me... you know... Well past I was 30 until I could, I could get to the point in my life where I could just sing and just not care what people thought about me, and you know... I don't know... people like that need to be celebrated so... I'm so happy that her choir got to be part of this and I reached out to another one Of my friends from the a capella group that I founded at the University of Oregon Who was the choir director at both... 2 different schools in Eugene, the town I live in Churchill and North Eugene, and we got to make this video So, I really hope you guys enjoyed it, I hope you got goosebumps when The last scene comes in and you can see everyone on the risers... It's just a special song This song couldn't have been made without the support of my Patrons at Patreon And if you guys would like to learn more about that, I really encourage you To click through and check out Patreon I have a link down below as well Please pass this on to... anyone you love It would mean the world to me And... yeah... celebrate life, and love, and don't take any moments for granted To many people spend life focusing on disappointment and fear and hate Especially this time of year Just celebrate love and celebrate your life and tell those around you that you love them Love you guys, music coming all the time Peace!
