Translation & Subtitles: thoseguiltyeyes | scandal-heaven.com ⠀ Hello! RINA here. There's something I'd like to leave behind for later, which is what I'm filming today. It's about why my heart's been beating fast recently every day. Like... Yeah... I think those fans who check our info closely will know this, but on August 21st of this year, SCANDAL will be celebrating our 17th anniversary. That's such a long time! Even I'm surprised at how the years have just stacked up. Although 17 isn't a nice round number, it's a very important... point in time for us. 17 years is the world record for the longest-running all-girl band with no member changes or hiatuses. Right now... We're trying to set the world record for the longest-running all-girl band with the same members. We might be able to get the new Guinness World Record for that. I'm sure there are a lot of people who watch these videos who have been fans for a long time, and others who recently came to know me through my videos. I hope to spend this important time with as many people as possible and have a good time together. Lately we've been preparing every day for August 21st, having meetings and such. We've been thinking about how we can make the days until then wonderful, the band members and our team. The excitement is growing each time things proceed. I've never felt this way before. What kind of day will it be? How can we continue on after it? There are so many unknowns, which is why my heart's been racing lately. We've appeared at a handful of festivals and events this year, and during those MCs we've talked about how we're trying to set this record. It's like this year is all about that. At any rate... We hope that many people learn about this. We want to have fun with our fans, spread the word, and have the current SCANDAL be directly conveyed to everyone. We will be playing a concert on August 21st, the day of our anniversary, in Osaka where the band was formed. Rather than a concert, it's more of an event. This is an event where we'll be announcing the results of our challenge for the world record. We're of course also doing a live performance, but it'll be more of a special day. Content-wise as well. We're a band that has a very unique story. We're a band whose beginning is one that you've never heard happening elsewhere. The four band members met at a dance & vocal training school in Osaka. Although the four of us had never been in a band before, a teacher there recommended that we try out instruments. We started playing our respective instruments. That's how we started. From there, we all taught ourselves how to play without knowing anything. We started writing lyrics without really knowing what to do. I was a third-year middle schooler at the time (14/15 years old). It was only a matter of a few days, but I was the last one to be invited to join the band. I vividly remember my summer vacation when I was 14. I had joined that dance school, but I was invited to join the band right after I joined the school. Although I couldn't do anything—dancing, being part of the band, singing— I wanted to try anything I had the chance to do. When I first met the other members... I wanted to do something with these members. That's all I had to rely on when we started the band. Every day, day after day, the four of us would play together, practice, and every day there were either days when we could do one more thing, and days when we couldn't. Day after day we'd have fun. But since none of us joined the school with the intent of being in a band, we were conflicted, of course. We had joined the school thinking we'd work hard at practicing dancing and singing, so although we were of course like, "So we're going to be a band as of today?", little by little, as the four of us spent each day together, our feelings came together and set our minds to doing this. That's really how we were until a few years after our debut. Now, the four of us have been together for 17 years, and our fans have been there all that time. We're really grateful for that. I hope we can continue to do our best to deliver what we can now. Yeah. So, at any rate... I'd like to what I can do every day and head towards August 21st. After August 21st, we have our tour in October coming up, and we're planning things we haven't yet announced. The band is still continuing on, but [August 21st] is one big goal for us. I've really never felt this way before. Whenever a dream of ours comes true, we always talk about how we've reached a checkpoint. There's a slightly different feeling to this one. So I hope we can greet this one big goal with a smile and jump in to whatever's after that. There are so many things we don't know, but for now, I hope we can all celebrate SCANDAL on August 21st and that knowing that day will come will keep me going and working hard until then. Our story's already so long that it's hard to look back on it in detail, but we do have a lot of songs. There's still some time before the event, so if you'd like, I hope you can enjoy our music in various ways, listening to our old songs and such. Heart-pounding, right? How will I even feel? I can't imagine it. But it's an amazing thing. We really worked hard. That really might be so. It'll probably be the day when we receive the most praise ever. So... It would make me really happy if you could enjoy it with us. Yes, so today... That's right; I didn't mention the title [of the event]. The event is called "Sekai Ichi" (Best in the World). "Sekai Ichi," our 17th anniversary event on August 21, 2023. It's a great, big title. But it is grounded in reality, and all of us decided on that title. It's crazy. This is something you only get to do once in a lifetime. That's why we'll make this an event filled with fun and enjoyment in every detail. Today, we'll be shooting photos of us wearing the Sekai Ichi merch. So I'll be recording a little of that as well. It's time to head out and go to the shooting spot. I'm off! I'm at our office. First, we're going to record comments and such. (A note for the fan club [It's secret]☁) This is the most popular towel. I wrote it with a brush. "Sekai Ichi" towel. So cute. I guess all the calligraphy I've ever done was for this. It's like you're giving a presentation. Like you're saying, "I wrote this!" I want you to take some like this. That's cool. Okay. Thank you. Pick one of these up, okay? (Shooting for our fan club [It's secret]☁) Show me the "Sekai Ichi" bracelet. Nice. The "Sekai Ichi" text is divided in half. Nice design. The shoot's done! We took some good ones. We're a little short on tickets for August 21st, so I'm afraid there will be a lot of people who won't be able to come, but whether you can come in person or not, I hope that all of us can enjoy that day together. Let's make it a great day! It's extremely hot every day, so let's take care of ourselves and stay healthy. That's all for today. See you in my next video! Bye bye!
