WEBVTT 00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:02.950 Hello and welcome back to my channel! 00:00:02.950 --> 00:00:04.860 I'm very excited about today's video. 00:00:04.860 --> 00:00:07.715 It's a topic that I have wanted to do for a very long time. 00:00:07.715 --> 00:00:09.271 We're talking about lighting. 00:00:09.271 --> 00:00:12.197 I'm going to give you ideas for different lighting setups. 00:00:12.197 --> 00:00:14.939 We're in a pretty small space. So, keep that in mind. 00:00:14.939 --> 00:00:18.259 You are not limited by the size of room that you're in. 00:00:18.259 --> 00:00:21.710 But first, before, we get into the meat of this video 00:00:21.710 --> 00:00:25.274 I would like to take a moment to thank today's sponsor [meow] smart home. 00:00:25.274 --> 00:00:28.144 So, we'll be using their devices to help 00:00:28.144 --> 00:00:30.096 us make these lighting setups 00:00:30.096 --> 00:00:32.182 more convenient and intuitive. 00:00:32.182 --> 00:00:34.935 You'll see what I mean in just a sec so let's get into it. 00:00:34.938 --> 00:00:38.170 We set everything up for this particular lighting setup yesterday 00:00:38.170 --> 00:00:40.157 because we just wanted to get ahead 00:00:40.157 --> 00:00:44.183 so, unfortunately there is no BTS of how we set this up but I am going to 00:00:44.183 --> 00:00:48.718 walk you through exactly what we're using to light this beautiful scene 00:00:48.718 --> 00:00:50.440 that you're seeing right now. 00:00:50.044 --> 00:00:54.633 The coolest thing about this setup is that most of what we're using as light sources, 00:00:54.633 --> 00:00:56.689 you probably already have at home. 00:00:56.689 --> 00:00:59.174 So our first light, our key light-- 00:01:00.326 --> 00:01:01.410 Thanks Luna. 00:01:01.410 --> 00:01:03.347 As I was saying, our first light, our key light, 00:01:03.347 --> 00:01:07.757 is actually the beautiful window that I am facing right now. 00:01:07.757 --> 00:01:09.793 So it's a little bit sunnier in here today 00:01:09.793 --> 00:01:12.637 than it was yesterday when we originally set it up. It was way more overcast 00:01:12.637 --> 00:01:26.767 yesterday and that was giving us a beautiful diffused, soft light on my face and that's typically what I love about natural light is it is really flattering, especially when it is an overcast day because it's already adding that natural diffusion. 00:01:26.767 --> 00:01:34.727 But today, because it's much more harsh, and usually it is in this room in the morning; it's very very sunny so we've added a diffusion panel. 00:01:34.727 --> 00:01:41.976 If you don't have something like this at home, you can repurpose a sheer curtain, you can use a sheet off of your bed. 00:01:41.976 --> 00:01:49.216 Anything white and sheer that's a little bit opaque that'll allow you to just nicely diffuse that light source on your face. 00:01:49.216 --> 00:01:54.054 So, you don't necessarily need to go to Amazon and buy your own diffusion panel if you don't want to. 00:01:54.054 --> 00:01:57.024 Next, behind me we've got some practicals lit. 00:01:57.024 --> 00:02:01.024 We have our own lamp that-- 00:02:01.024 --> 00:02:09.544 I love this lamp. It's from (Streptube?). I think it was only about $100 and what I love about it is you can position the head of it to kind of shine in any direction you want. 00:02:09.544 --> 00:02:19.288 So we have it tilted at just the right angle to give a little bit of a glow and reflection on the cabinets over here which I actually quite like 'cause it's a little bit golden 00:02:19.288 --> 00:02:28.164 and it's a little bit higher so that it's giving me sort of a low hair on this side light which I like because it adds a little bit of depth to the frame. 00:02:28.164 --> 00:02:29.460 Then we just lit a candle. 00:02:29.460 --> 00:02:35.346 All of those little light sources in the back just add some depth and some interest to your overall shot. 00:02:35.346 --> 00:02:47.246 My favorite thing about how all of the lights are set up in this office and actually how all of the lights were set up in our previous office space as well is that they're all voice-controlled using a smart speaker. 00:02:47.246 --> 00:02:56.153 In this office, we have the echo dot setup. So, when we're lighting everything, I can just yell at [meow] to do whatever I want: to turn on lights, to change the color of them. 00:02:56.153 --> 00:02:59.143 So, allow me to demonstrate. 00:02:59.143 --> 00:03:02.943 [Meow] please change the light to blue. Echo: Okay 00:03:02.943 --> 00:03:06.483 I didn't even say lamp, I said light. She's so smart. 00:03:06.483 --> 00:03:17.913 So in the old office space, if you guys remember my setup, I had multiple pendant lights hanging in the background and I didn't always want to run around and turn on each of them at once so I had those set up with a smart switch. 00:03:17.913 --> 00:03:26.443 And, with this lamp, I actually have a smart bulb. So that bulb connects directly to my smart speaker and it's really easy to pair. 00:03:26.443 --> 00:03:31.446 It honestly just saves me so much time from walking over, manually changing the color. 00:03:31.446 --> 00:03:37.274 You can do it on your phone too but it's always just easier to just yell out a command and have it happen. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 so lets show you a couple more lighting setup 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 and they'll increase with complexity as we go 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 I could have sworn I heard footsteps coming from the second floor. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 they got louder and louder and I knew they were something that was out of this world 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 do not use camexa if you have certain medical conditions. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 Camexa may cause new or worsening your urinary retention problem. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 some people are just here for the wrong reason 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 and I am just trying to find love. okey 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 this is really hard for me to make. but I recognize that I've made a mistake 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 and I want to apologize to every single one of you 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 and thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting this channel 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 right now join planet fitness for only one dollar 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 only 10 dollars a month 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 no commitment. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 hey turn on the ring light. - ok 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 oh yeah> so as you can see this is a very versatile setup 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 yet very very simple. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 all we have behind us is an RGB ring light that we got off Amazone. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 then we hooked it up to a smart plug so now I can tell to turn it on and off 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 to whatever light; however, this isn't a lifx bulb so I do have to... 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 the control please. I do have to change the colors with this handy dandy remote. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 but I can do that all by sitting here. 99:59:59.999 --> 99:59:59.999 it's so easy.
