Have you ever asked yourself: what is distance? In physics, it's the space between two points. Have you ever wondered how can distance help a person find his own peace? I think at some point, everyone wants to be away from everybody, be alone, and just think. For some people, distance means getting out of their comfort zone. For others, it's an adventure, for others it’s chance to find their personality. Distance makes us realize all those details. I think at some point everybody needs distance to find his-her peaceful world. Not many people may know, that according to Steve Jobs's biography book, he was interested in Buddhism and when he was working at Atari, he wanted to travel to India to explore Buddhism deeper. Arriving in India, Steve Jobs got to meet the guru who had been reincarnated and taught him all about Buddhism So, he decided to explore it himself. He went up to Indian mountains and after exploring, came back. Right after returning, he founded Apple. It sounds strange nowadays that an IT genius set up Apple after staying in Indian mountains. I think most of us like sea paintings by Ayvazovsky, but not everybody knows that he painted the four most important paintings of his life, when he was alone in the Crimea peninsula, when there were only him and the sea. Distance plays a very important role in our life. It helps to appreciate the people, who were near to us. American writer, Aleksandar Hemon, once said: "It seemed that we loved each other better, when there were large swathes of oceans between us. The daily work of love was often hard to perform at home." I can guess some of you think I’m very cruel person and that I don’t care about missing each other. But believe me, I am more human. American “Good Night Lamp” company made special lamps, that people take with them when they travel, or just will be far from relatives or friends. So the light turns on, when one goes to work, comes back, eats, yawns, goes to bed, etc. It’s interesting, isn’t it? This is how “Good Night Lamp” decided to cut the distance. After all, let’s love each other, both near and far. Distance shouldn’t be an obstacle for love. At the end let me quote Nobel prize winner Albert Camus: "Distance is a great science, that helps us to redefine us and the world." Thank you! (Applause)
