with Al but first let's welcome the

other people who are joining us on this

hangout the fans and followers of EL

James will come to you shortly to get

your questions but now let's turn to el

james first al are you surprised by how

successful and how popularly novels have

been i think surprise really summing it

up I think gobsmacked shocked terrified

all those kind of words into mind it's

been them it's happened very very very

quickly so I haven't really had a chance

to get used to it yet imma keep pinching

myself thinking this is actually

happening to somebody else and actually

that's probably I can deal with it

really it's all happening to somebody

else but is yes then it's been an

extraordinary extraordinary couple of

months well yeah so far so yeah it's

some i'm amazed completely amazed and

you didn't intend to write a noble

understand as well you basically took it

up as a bit of a hobby is that right

that's right yes yes also i just used to

post it on the incidence of chapter at a

time it's great fun really really good

club and and yeah just gonna be here

basically a man or even in my world

history okay well as you can see people

know this is a bit jumping the gun but I

was just wondering about and I know

you're working on more books and I was

wondering if you would go about it the

same way as it write it on San fiction

and

kind of edit to their already just

finished with that process and now doing

something different huh I think I've

actually got to I went to novels before

for every starting packages on I'd like

to revisit them and I'm actually in the

process of rewriting one of those I also

start rewriting the other one and I have

three other ideas as well so I'm I don't

know I actually don't know what I'm

going to do next and this is a

conversation I need to have with with a

few people but I I'm quite passionate

about all of them what I will miss is

writing a chapter at a time and posting

it up that is such a good it's such good

fun it really is good fun and I really

really enjoyed that process but it's

also i mean i have two completed novels

i just got to rewrite them so that's

that's also gonna be fun as well and i

agreed in forward to some peace and

quiet so I can get on and do that

because all of this stuff for doing this

is crazy so so I'm looking forward to

that great thank you and actually owe

you when you wrote these books you were

typing on your phone on the train and

things like that weren't you so this

whole process has been kind of shock to

you yes yeah i was typing it whatever

whatever and wherever i got inspiration

to write so I'm not just typing out

it'll do you know got scrap of paper

back of an envelope whatever I was just

doing that or we're not late but which

she carried your writing you should

carry all the time so yes it's um yeah

it's yeah that's what I was doing but

I'm very large and I max probably right

sit on that and stay very safety of my

home so let's turn to the actual

characters and Anastasia and Christian

tell us a bit more about them well there

what can I tell you about them anastasis

sort of young

two shelves averted kind of setup head

books most of her my cell life she's so

bright she's spunky she's um she doesn't

quite know what hit so when she goes

into he's Christian Grey who is super

very wealthy successful entrepreneur who

has certainly existing tastes she was

your question next oh I just want to say

how much i absolutely love the novels

like it has an exam last week and I

couldn't study for it because oh I'm

sorry that's okay I really didn't know

how good it was gonna be and I was like

but anyway and I know at first it was

published this were Australian publish

what was it like to transition to a

larger partnership well it was not of

hectic really only we are these I only

signed the deal with random house in 7th

March and then we had to turn the

novel's around very quickly they did oh

they did a fantastic a very quick copy

edit on 50 shades brands i did a bigger

edit all the shades of grey and i turned

it around to be something like two days

i believe it came back to them so

quickly and then they then they then and

put it out I can't even remember which

data I just lost some sense of time this

process so we did that and then and then

I went to Hollywood to meet lots of

people i was actually editing the other

two books while i was in Holly do it so

it was just absolutely crazy crazy crazy

morning so so yeah it's been it's been

been really hard work and the guys at

random house

in the USA and UK have done an amazing

job in getting these books out there and

just it's been astonishing how they've

been coming how hard they've worked and

you know it's some it's are just so you

know taste it just blows me away all of

that just blows me away well it's am

riding high in the top seller lists and

countries all over the world isn't it

and it's available future purchase and

first of all I just had to apologize for

my parents I didn't know I was gonna be

on camera you look great what I'd like

to know is obviously recently we came to

the information about fifty shades it's

going to be made into a film fingers

crossed Sam who do you envision in the

role I understand the ian somerhalder is

quite keen on this and I'm all for that

but later and I'm actually very cool out

I'm pleading the fifth on any costume

issue anything I just then it's very

very quiet and it's very very early

stages we need to find a producer we

need to find a script on the script so I

am going to say nothing about the car

picture in the roles of arms I don't

I mean whether I continue the series

will write it from criticism questions

dear one we wanted to ask and whether

you have where to use the Christian and

a nine ten years now and would you think

about writing about them and their

lately is I I would tell you that but I

don't want to spoil it for people who

haven't read the second book the second

so I if you if you want to ask me that

in six months time i will tell you but

it's it's kind of difficult because I

cook yeah I know I know where they're

going to be and together then I today

and also as i'm not sure if anyone's

asked this already but i use thinking of

writing and the three against on Kristin

Christians pointed unit I'd say I can't

tell you how I just put those things the

second question for Yale James I just

wondered what Al stands for and if

you're ever going to tell us and I'm

just wondering why you chose to put that

on the book hookers oppose your full

name um like

I spent about three minutes siding I

needed to see him I thought I didn't

know I had no idea these books of your

successful material I thought I would

continue writing and I've continued were

killing us to keep them separate so the

EDA she stands for Erica which is my

name the oh I'm not really what that

stands for and yeah interserve is its

kind of sort of family name way back

when so that's what that that's what

that sounds like the thing is I thought

I was into a place to work in up until

january i was working in television and

tell me owning a time and you know

making TV programs and i kind of miss my

mates from from from pet where I used to

work but some it's it's I just decided

that I do I wanted to keep them separate

you know writing sort of romantic erotic

novels and it's working in TV like best

to have two different personas okay

that's okay you know you wrote the you

say you're from London there but the

book is actually based in Seattle isn't

it why did you choose to base it there

well because of its origins really the

Twilight novels take place on in

Washington State and I chose the apples

another reason is that my favorite also

assess her one of my favorites or assess

her normals there was set alot renault

um one of my favorite north I wouldn't

call now she wrote a novel called love

song for Raven which is another romantic

picture and I got some second a rat in

and around but actually the islands

obviously act and sound so yes that's

congratulations on your success

is it and you've really helped a lot of

people and a lot of marriages so

congratulations okay i think it was

Sophie wasn't in oxford who had a second

question there Sophie I just wanted to

the cutters the novel's stand out

compared to others of its tagline erotic

novels because I don't read a lot of

erotica they're just wondering is there

other any sort of similarities or

differences to survive I've written all

to other erotic novels is that an to

other items I don't know it so that's

our own some really interesting question

it's item find it very difficult to

touch judge who I bring analyzable over

it I like a good love story with you

know well rounded characters and so what

I think I've ever read I've not read I

think there could be kink is my name it

will learn to forward to that server

question to us without I haven't

relevant actually been able to meet for

a long time I've been so busy writing

missed reading a fat joke I better have

only met a few Ticknor was the last

couple of years and i missed it really
