Hi everyone, I'm Barbara.
I'm here in Veneto, in North Italy,
and it's been exactly one week that I'm in a quarantine
at my own home.
I've been posting and making videos about
coronavirus and how it spread and I was there
three weeks ago when it all started in Vo.
Since then I've got a lot of questions, so I thought I'm going to answer them,
and I also asked you on Instagram.
The first question is: "Can you go outside?"
The answer is yes and no.
We can go outside.
The rules are not really strict, but also not really obvious,
so we can go out for example,
the pharmacy or to make groceries.
We can do everything which are...
we can say emergency actions.
Like, for example, doing sports,
so like jogging,
or having a walk--like older people are usually having walks in Italy--
you can do it but it happened for example
one of my friend told me like Innapoli there was an older man
and the policeman asked him "what are you doing?"
and he said "well you know ahh just walking"
and they sent him home
so it's uh, so the policeman can stop you and ask you to
to go home.
Uhhhhh
A lot of people are asking about
uhhhhh
if there will be any food. Theres enough food.
the basic things are still working
so there are groceries and there are like vans who are coming and going
and they are bringing
uhhhh
the food and the supplies
with masks and you know, gloves.
The trashhhh uh, the trashmen are coming
so the basic needs are are happening
so yes, there will be enough food.
you don't have to worry about that one.
a lot of times I saw this question
when will it be over?
ummmm
we don't know that yet. And that's the whole problem.
You know, in all of Italy
In all of Europe, and all around the world
we dont know when its going to
ha- uhhh
to be over.
The numbers are still going up
like really
the numbers are really high. every day
there's like hundreds of new people who are uhhh
checking in because they have the symptoms
So the problem is that we don't know when its going to be over.
Its difficult to say at this point.
Another question is connecting to this one.
Why the numbers are high in Italy?
The whole thing started in Italy because of three things
One of them is the tourist. In Italy the tourism is really really strong and big
Everyone loves to go here
obviously because it's one of the most beautiful places
and fantastic places on earth. But everyone likes to come here
so a lot of people come here.
so that's why it started here. And then people started
to spr-
to mooove
and go back to there own country
and started to spread
The second reason is because
this is a really old country
the average
uhhhhhh
life age
uhhhh
is eighty....eighty-five years old
so people dies in average eighty
eighty-five years old
which is really really high
and this means theres a lot of
really old people here
and they are the ones who
who
we need to be care.. cared about
because they got the virus really easily
and its dangerous for them.
and the third one is that I think it because
uhhhh
the italians are having
a really like small distance between
each other
So, for example norther countries
like uhh
Norwegian or Swedish people
they are keeping
one..one-half meter distance
between each other
when they are talking
Italians...for Italians its like
20 centimeters
so the distance is really really small
which means
its very easier to get the virus
so i think that's the third reason.
what is the reality of life
under the lock down?
ummmmmm
I have to say it's quite
uhhh
quite the same.
I do quite the same things
as I usually do
Its because I'm an artist
So I'm reading a lot
and I'm painting, I'm working
I'm editing videos.
So I'm doing kinda the same
uhhhh
the only weird thing is that
I dont
uhhh
I dont I dont go out
and that is..like we cant
got out and for now it's fine
but it will be at one point
it will be difficult.
I;m lucky because I have my
boyfriend and his father here
so I'm not really alone but
meeting with other people is going to
I'm going to miss it at one point
Now I'm really fine with it
Im talking with a lot of people
I talk with my frieeeenddss on skyyyype
and and you know, video chats.
So that is really cool. You can keep
communicating
and you know I was thinking about
make some wine talk with my friends
through skype, so I think uh
you know that can that can work.
But yeah its weird to be
to be in sweatpants all the time
but a-a again I usually I do this all
the time
Sylvia gibberish is asking
Do you make stock-stockplies
of food and medicine?
Are supermarkets open?
I ready that it some towns people
are not allowed to leave their apartment.
True. We have a lot of food now.
Just yesterday we had groceries
and we are making, we try to make it
every second week to go to groceries,
so we are not going there every day.
Medicines we have some kind of
medicines,
like for headache, for stomach-ache,
for fever,
so the basic ones, we have them, yes.
Supermarkets are open, as I said.
Another question from Yamato Domoshete,
"Why don't you immigrate to Hungary?" Oh, ok.
"Italy has once again entered a difficult time,
and it will take a long time to recover."
I answered him wrong when I wrote
back to him,
but ok now I understand the question.
I don't want to go back to Hungary
because at the first part when
there
was no one who was infected
in Hungary,
no one had the virus in Hungary,
I decided not to go because I
didn't want me to be the one
who brings the virus there.
I had this warm nationalism
feeling
inside of me that I have to
protect my nation, and I was like,
ok, I'm not going to Hungary,
because
what if I have the virus,
and I don't want to bring it to them,
and I didn't want to be that person,
so that was my first thought,
and then I didn't want to go there
because I thought the healthcare
in Hungary
is way worse than the Italian one,
so it's one person minus,
so if I get sick, I don't, you know,
occupying a bed there from
someone else,
and also I didn't want to leave
my boyfriend here alone,
because he's writing his thesis
now,
and he's also working at the
same time,
so he's really overwhelmed,
and I just want to be next to him
to help him.
You everything asks, "Are you prepared?"
"Will you get food shipped in?"
"I am praying for you here in Ohio."
Well, thank you!
I've got a lot, a lot, a lot of different
messages
and comments from you guys
from all around the world,
and I have to tell you that
it warms my heart so much,
because it, it's coming from
really everywhere,
I got messages from different
parts
from America, from Australia,
from China, someone wrote
from
Scotland, from the Netherlands,
someone even wrote me from
Nigeria, so, I'm really getting a lot
of messages from you, and you know,
asking how we are, and I really,
really hope that you don't have to go
through all of this, even though
I don't feel that it's so bad,
if I can say that, in my life,
and I didn't have to experience
wartime,
or any kind of horrible diseases
that, you know, kills, which kills
my family, and [inaudible]
a lot of people in the past
experienced this, so I think staying
at home for a couple of weeks
is not a big sacrifice.
Epstein didn't kill himself asks,
"How old are the people who
have died?"
I have to check exactly the
thing, because I am not sure
about the exact numbers,
but I know that most of them
are over 60 years old.
Ok, so let me see the Instagram
questions.
kikikiksky, kikikiksky, kikikiksky is
asking,
"How is the current situation?"
"Hope any better news."
Well, thanks, and unfortunately
not,
and the numbers are still going
high, higher and higher, so
eventually there is no good
news now, and I think that we
will be on the top I think one week
from now, and then it will go down.
If someone has the virus
and doesn't show any symptoms
from 5 days to 11, which means
that before the quarantine,
a lot of people met, so those
people
were still spreading the virus
so I think when the Prime Minister
asked for the quarantine plus 11 days,
that will be the highest point of the
virus,
and then hopefully it will go down.
Bachviki is asking in Hungarian,
Basically, her question is about if
the racism is stronger than ever, or
if it is lighter than before?
It is difficult for me to answer to this,
I don't really see any articles or
people talking about on Facebook,
about that it's anyone else's fault,
or, so I don't really see that,
I mean, for sure, there are a lot
of people who thinks that, but
I don't really see that.
"More babies or divorces?"
I like this question, very difficult
to answer. I think both of them.
I mean, they are saying [inaudible]
articles people are writing
what you should put in your stock,
and next to rice and pasta,
and they are saying also condoms,
some of you wrote me from China,
that yes, we should be prepared that
in nine months from now, we are
going to have a lot of new babies,
which is awesome, I think.
