[How to sign up]
Welcome to the Open Translation Project!
To start contributing,
go to TED.com and set up a profile.
Then you will need to register
in our online
translation and transcription tool, Amara.
To do so, go to Amara.org
and then sign in
by using your TED profile.
Now select your languages.
In the Open Translation Project,
in addition to translating
English TEDTalks,
you will also be able
to translate and transcribe
TEDxTalks delivered in other languages.
So here, select all of the languages
that you feel confident
translating and transcribing.
Afterwards, click "Apply to Join."
You will be asked to respond
to a few questions.
Be as accurate as possible,
and remember to answer
all of them in English.
When you're ready,
submit your application.
Let me give you a hint!
Don't forget to confirm your email address
in the email sent to you by Amara.
This will allow you
to receive a notification
when your application has become accepted.
We usually take up to five days
to approve an application.
You can use this time to prepare
by browsing our training material
on TED.com and our Wiki, OTPedia,
and you can search for TEDTalks,
TEDxTalks and TED-Ed lessons
that you might want to translate.
After your application
has become accepted,
get in touch with the OTP community,
in our general Facebook groups,
"I translate TEDTalks"
and "I transcribe TEDxTalks,"
and find your specific language group
in the ever-growing list on OTPedia.
And for now,
happy transcribing and translating!
