Leroy: The Coronavirus high-risk group speaks out.

  • 0:06 - 0:09
Oh you know people with disabilities
  • 0:09 - 0:12
    have already been
    isolated, you know?
  • 0:14 - 0:17
And the country is finally waking up
  • 0:18 - 0:21
to the realities of people with disabilities
  • 0:21 - 0:25
We work from home. Many of us
  • 0:25 - 0:28
do our whole work from the bed.
  • 0:29 - 0:33
    We've been telemarketing
  • 0:33 - 0:35
    ever since the internet began.
  • 0:36 - 0:40
I'm glad that the rest of the world
  • 0:40 - 0:46
is waking up to what the people
  • 0:46 - 0:49
    with disabilities have
  • 0:49 - 0:52
    been living since day one.
  • 0:52 - 0:56
    The question is, after this,
  • 0:56 - 0:59
are we going to really sit down and
  • 1:00 - 1:03
look at how we can implement
  • 1:03 - 1:06
some of the things that people with
  • 1:06 - 1:10
disabilities have been doing since day one
  • 1:11 - 1:15
The media is so idiotic because if you
  • 1:16 - 1:21
look at any other things, it takes
  • 1:21 - 1:25
brown and black people. If you look at
  • 1:25 - 1:29
    who's working in grocery stores
  • 1:29 - 1:33
    whose doing this essential work...
  • 1:33 - 1:36
    My sister works with banks.
  • 1:37 - 1:40
She has to go to work.
  • 1:40 - 1:42
    It makes sense that
  • 1:42 - 1:45
black and brown people are affected more
  • 1:46 - 1:47
    by this virus
  • 1:47 - 1:50
The thing is, what are we
  • 1:50 - 1:52
going do about it as a country?
  • 1:53 - 1:56
    I think Institutionalized Racism
  • 1:56 - 2:00
    kills us constantly, every day.
  • 2:01 - 2:07
With the virus, it just compounds it.
